  • I am a cubs fan but I love edmonds in chicago he was awsome. That fuck jim henry should have gave Edmonds a contract in 09. Now Edmonds is back from retiering and with the Brewers. He said that he was going to murder the people that keep him out of baseball. Murder them Edmonds.

  • All of Cardinal Nation salutes a true Cardinal - #15 Worn by Champions; McCarver and Edmonds ... Go Cards

  • Edmonds for HOF. Great fielder and hitter.

  • was def at game 6 when he hit that walk off home run.. loudest ive ever heard busch stadium

  • awsome song

  • the cubs should be thanking jim edmonds

  • Jim Edmonds is awesome, what a great guy on and off the field! I wish he was still in STL.

  • A class act of a center fielder. This comes from an Astros fan who wanted Edmonds dead after the 2004 NLCS. Those were a fun couple of series in 04 and 05, unfortunately we never got our world series victory.

  • yes i am a cardinals fan and i thought that the 04-05 NLCS were the best games ever. im only 15 though, but they had everything. Walkoff HR's, amazing catches, great pitching. it was a fun series to watch both years.

  • cardinal rock

  • For all of you 'TARDS' that think there should of been video. Games and video footage are officially licensed and copyrighted to the MLB. He couldn't post video if he wanted to. Some tards don't think be for the comment...

    WebJim!! RIP

  • I still can't believe how great the '04 line-up was for the Cardinals. Walker, Edmonds, Rolen, Pujols and Renteria. Are you F'ing kidding me? There hadn't been an order of such caliber since the '61 Yanks with Mantle, Blanchard, Howard, Maris and Berra. Murderers Row. I've seen the way Cub fans treat their players when they have a bad day, they boo and throw trash on the field. Cub fans didn't deserve to have such a great player within the confines of Wrigley Field. Go suck a fat one, yuppies.

  • What was even stranger was how pathetic the Red Sox made them all look in the 2004 WS. Of course the Red Sox had some great pitching that year, but no one expected Edmonds, Rolen, and Pujols to just collapse like that. Walker did hit pretty well, though.

  • Didn't the Cards beat the hell out of the Red Sox at Fenway last year? Just checking....

  • LOL I was talking specifically about the 2004 Red Sox and Cardinals. The 2008 teams were almost completely different. But it is amusing that you think a meaningless regular season series 4 years later that no one even remembers, can somehow negate the fucking World Series. Hahahaha

  • All I'm saying is we collapsed in the 2004 series, we were a better team than the Red Sox that year. We've won the World Series more than the Red Sox have, and we beat the crap out of them in their house last year. It doesn't matter how much ESPN coverage they get, the Cards are still better now and all for time.

  • The Cardinals were not, in any way, better than the Red Sox that year (or 2008 for that matter; any shit team can get lucky and win a 3 game set, it's not a huge accomplishment, sorry). Getting back to 04, the Cardinals rotation was atrocious. They did lose Carpenter (is his arm made of glass?), but even with him, the rest of the staff was just plain mediocre, which was proven in the Series. The Cards had amazing hitters that year, but when you don't have the pitching, it's over. And they didnt

  • they had 3 15+ game winners other than carpenter. just cuz they're names you never heard of doesn't mean they're bad. you suck and you dont know shit.

  • lol they were 15 game winners because they had an amazing offense behind them. You can play this game all you want, but they all got rocked in the World Series, so good luck erasing that history.

And funny how you think I don't know who Jason Marquis or Woody Williams is. Williams STARTED Game 1. LOL

  • we'll see who wins the W.S. this year.

  • i remember that series.

  • The 2004 WS was obviously one sided, but the Cards didn't win 105 games on accident. They had three 15+ game winners outside of Carpenter, a 47 save season from Isringhausen, a 2.38 ERA from Julian Tavarez (setup man), and went 51-21 outside of the NL "comedy" central (which included a 11-1 record in interleague play).

The 2004 Cards just picked the wrong time to play their worst baseball of the season.

  • Wins (team dependent stat; a team's bullpen and lineup can have a big effect on a pitcher's W-L record) and saves are stupid stats. A 2.38 ERA (in 64.1 IP) for a RP isn't really impressive. RP are also only charged with runs by batters who reached base against them.

  • you forgot the old but still good reggie sanders

  • yeah its too bad that the RED SOX bodyslammed the Cards into the dirt that year in the World Series......guess those catches were all for nothing.......he was better last year as a CUB........

  • Too bad he only stayed for 1 year, proberly because of there fans.

  • how bout some video... what a tard of a poster

  • Man, this man is crazy good

Its a shame Im only fifteen and never really got to see him in his prime

  • i rllly miss seeing him out in center,

but i cnt believe he went to the cubs! =/

the first game i ever saw him play he hit a 2-run homer over the ivy at wrigley against the cubs

  • My dad went to diamond bar high school with jim edmonds and i graduated from there too. i got to meet him, pretty nice guy

  • thanks for making this vid... he was my favorite player with the angels,, when he left,, i became a cardinal fan.. now i root for him to win with the cubs... he's awesome,, i wish baseball would make a Jim Edmonds DVD

  • they do its called 5 dicks for 1 cubbie just kidding he broke our hearts in St Louis but he was old and not worth 10 mill. good move cards move over Jimmy Ank the Tank is taking over in center

  • i wear #15 because of this guy, i just hope he makes 400 home runs before he retires.

  • I went to a cubs v. cardinals game at the atmosphere was rocking, but then I went to a cubs game when they played the White Sox. Whew, way more energy and rivalry than a cards game. Kinda weird cause the Cardinals are in the Cubs division and those games mean more, but seeing the Sox play there was as close as the cubs will get to a World Series. In fact, that IS their World Series...

  • its not really that good of a rivilry cause the Cubs havent done anything in 101 years. If the Cubs would have done something in the last hundred years the rivalry might be better

  • I agree with you!!! Go Cubs Go!

  • guy doesnt play 3/4 of the time still has 14 homeruns. he was special, the cards would not be where they are without him

  • even tho hes a cub, u still gotta love the guy

  • Is Jim pissed? I thought it was a mutual thing, they told him he wouldn't play every day this year so he wanted to be traded to a California team so he could retire in his home state. I hope he does sign a 1-day contract and retire a Cardinal. My dad is a big fan of Willie 51, me myself, I'm 30 years younger and a Jimmy fan. Every game that I see Jimmy hit a homerun but the Cubs lose is a good day to me.

  • Exactly. I root for Edmonds to do well personally and for the Cubs to lose.

And he's been doing quite well for himself since he joined the Cubs.

I still hope that he comes back in some capacity though. He's my favorite player of the post-Ozzie Smith era. And I do have this old fashioned thing called loyalty in my blood.

  • The Cardinals were stupid to let him go. I do not feel one bit sorry for the Cards. I am a huge Cubs fan and I am so glad the Cubs picked him up. He is doing well with the Cubs and I think Edmonds hitting two homeruns against the Cards in one game proves how Edmonds feels about the Cards. The Cards treated him like crap.

  • He hit two home runs to help his current team, the cubs, win the game. Not because he hates the Cardinals. Read any of his quotes in the papers after yesterdays game and you'll know that. He wanted to retire a Cardinal and Still has all of his ties, including a restaurant, in St. Louis. He IS a Cardinal in his blood. He is a cub under contract.

By the way, I'm currently watching my Cardinals beat your Cubs 9-2. With your "ace" Zambrono giving up 9 earned runs. NIIIIIICE!

  • We will see who makes it to the playoffs at the end of the season. Your Cardinals have no chance to beat the Cubs and Brewers.

If you read and listen, LaRussa is bad mouthing Edmonds. Did not you see the state Edmonds gave the Cardinals dugout last night? May the best team make it.

  • LaRussa was stirring up controversy in the earlier series to save face for the stupid mistake he made in letting Edmonds go. He didn't want to show the proper respect for Edmonds that he should have. Unfortunately Tony has a past of this.

Edmonds' flip of the bat may have been at Tony but they've always had a love/hate relationship. As a day to day Cardinal fan since 1982 I know that because I follow baseball very closely. It wasn't directed at his former teammates with whom he's still friends.

  • My bad then. I did not know it was towards Tony. Still, even when Edmonds played for the Cardinals, he was really good. I think LaRussa should have given him the proper respect.

I really do like Edmonds. he is a sold player, and I think he still has a few years left to play baseball.

  • question, do you think edmonds fans (who in turn were cardinal fans) became instant cub fans? since he's been rocking the charts being with the cubs, i would imagine that being the case with his fans n' all.. but since cubs and cardinals are, in my book, the #2 best rivalry in baseball (#1 being yankees and Boston), would they beable to make the turn or would they still be cardinal fans yet continuing their support for edmonds? ive been wondering that for quite some time

  • I answered that in my post on this thread 4 weeks ago. I root for Edmonds individually but still for the Cardinals, not the Cubs. I'm pretty sure most Edmonds fans are of the same mind. I know quite a few who look at it the way I do.

  • By the way, even if the Cardinals don't make post season it will be an exception. But, in those rare years that the Cubs DO* make the post season it is an even bigger exception.

Edmonds is my favorite player and I root for him individually. If the Cubs make the playoffs and the Cardinals don't I will cheer for the Cubs. That's how I've always been. I don't hate the Cubs but I don't want them winning the division at the expense of my Cardinals. A friendly rivalry they call it. 100+ years strong!

  • I will also admit that the Cardinals are a good baseball team. The 10 world series they have won prove that. They are always up there in the division. I do not like them, but I will admit they have some good players.

  • My friend is a Cards fan, and her and I always have a friendly rivalry going during baseball season. It is all fun and games. All in fun. We laugh and joke about both teams.

  • Wasn't going to throw the 10 World Series and dozens of league titles at you. I thought that would be a cheap shot.

I live in Illinois and my brother is a Cub fan I can imagine that our discussions are like those you and your friend.

Nevertheless, I hope Edmonds gets his 2,000+ hits and his 400+ home runs and goes into The Hall as a Cardinal. He had his best years there and is best loved by us.

My girl took a great picture from behind with my #15 & me looking at an empty Center field in Busch.

  • Good points.

    You make good arguments.

  • LaRussa has been a bastard to some of the signature, fan favorite Cardinals who have left--often not of their own volition. Edmonds and Ozzie Smith are the two glaring examples.

I too hope that Jimmy keeps playing. I have worn my Edmonds jersey to every Cardinal game that I've went to out of protest. Believe me, MANY cards fans aside from me were PISSED when he was let go like a lame racehorse. I'm glad it bit Tony in the ass. I wrote a big long blog about it on my myspace beginning of season.

  • edmonds ab 170 hr 6 rbi 25

    ankiel ab 237 hr 12 rbi 32

actually ankiel is not that much of a upgrade then edmonds yes he has a great arm but edmonds has still proven he can catch the ball with the best of em and edmonds is way more cluth

  • The Cards were stupid to let him go. I think you guys may be short-siding Curt Flood though. He was a great center fielder himself. Nevertheless, Edmonds is my favorite player and I watched him since he played for the Quad City Angels in '89. Both Flood and Edmonds Cardinal numbers should be retired.

And he should have been given the sendoff he deserved.

He was treated with utter disrespect in my opinion. I just hope that he doesn't hold it against St. Louis when he goes into the hall of fame.

  • Edmounds was my favorite player to but the cards had 2 let him go he was getting to old he just not the same player he use 2 be and this is the rebuilding year for the cardinals so far they have done fine with out him and rolen

  • Thats a bold statement. Hes too fragile unreliable now, plus, he doesnt produce. Just look at his numbers. More importantly our outfield is STACKED with younger talent and prospects. Rick Ankiel was a perfect replacement who hits for power, is faster, and has a better arm (not to mention Rasmus, Schumaker, Ludwick). In fact, it was about the most intelligent thing the cards could have done!

  • What me and my dad think that when he retires he is ganna sign a 1-day contract so he can retire a Cardinal.

  • I hope so, but he's pissed with Cardinal management for sending him away.

  • dude my dad works 4 anheischur busch in St.Louis and i met Jim Edmonds, Scott ROle, and So taguchi

  • Yea thanks jim edmonds he has basically won the cubs thier last two games.

  • He won dozens and dozens of games for the Cards and many more in the playoffs. He was a better Cardinal.

  • the cards are better and edmomnds knows it

  • Looking better in Blue, GO CUBS!

  • He might look better in Blue but he'll NEVER play like he did in RED!

  • Yea , he was a Great Cardinal.

  • I second that birdsonbatfan.

  • the cubs can blow me...

  • i hate the cardinals with a sick passion cause im an astros fan but bein an astros fan ive seen jim edmonds plenty and have to admit hes one of the best defensive center fielderss ive ever seen

  • Jim Edmonds is gonna be a CUB!

  • does anyone have the 2004 nlcs game 6 homerun by edmonds??? against the astros to send it to game 7???

  • i found a cell phone upload of it. titled "cards win 8/22" thats the only i can find

  • I'm an Astros fan. That was a killer. As was Game 7.

  • I love this video. It makes me sad though.

Oh won't you come home Jim Edmonds? You look awful in blue. Our team will never be the same. We miss you Jimmy.

  • that sucks...GOO CUBBIESS!

  • hey does anyone know where to find a video of his game 6 winning home run in the nlcs? i can't seem to find it

  • STL loves you

  • Thanx Jimmy. Cardinals Nation will never forget you. You and your beaten body know the meaning of Dedication, hard work and joy

  • Jimmy...you wore the cardinals jersey with pride and represented it as best as any mlb player could...you added such joy and fun to the cardinals tradition...you're the greatest defensive center fielder ever and one of the greatest cardinals ever..thank you ...we'll miss you

  • Noone sacrificed his body for the sport like ballgame! It's a shame contracts aren't negotiated more on heart. I hope he hits 400 and 30 dongs! forever a fan jimmy

  • St. Louis misses you so much Jimmy! The view from the bleachers will never be the same. Best of luck to you #15!

  • jim edmonds you will always be a cardinal and is the greatest centerfielder in cardinal history thank you jim edmonds for everything

  • I LOVE YOU JIMY
