Mexico didn't sponsored this ride/pavilion. The story goes that when Disney approached the Mexican tourist office they weren't interested in sponsoring the pavilion, but Walt Disney believed important to have Mexico and Canada, being borders of the U.S., so they build this pavilion anyway. The designers built the pyramid based on a postcard which had an error: it was mirrored. So, this pyramid it's a mirrored maquette of the actual pyramid.
its kind of like them turning that awesome authentic norwegian resteraunt in the norway section of epcot, into some stupid meet and greet with the disney princesses. I'm going there tomorrow, =/ oh joy.
I loved the 2 people trying to sell you stuff as the boat was passing their area of the ride... The Three Caballeros isn't as good as the old ride... :(
I love this ride, though it's kind of oddly similar to It's a Small World, only in some ways. But isn't the Three Caballeros version practically the same ride with some tweaks to the video parts? To this day, I can't remember if I've only seen the Three Caballeros version on YouTube or actually experienced it. I last was at Disney in 2004...
The 3 Caballeros version is terrible in comparison to this. It's just a series of videos if I recall correctly. I would love to see them improve this ride in general, but they don't seem to invest much into any World Showcase rides; most of them have been the same stuff for my whole lifetime. I'm almost 30.
Omg I used to freaking love this ride! I go to Disney World basically once a year and the year I saw that this was gone and replaced with that Three Caballeros (although I adore Donald) bullshit I was so upset. This is a great addition (as sad a list as it may be) to your list of forgotten Disney attractions~
I am so happy I went so often as a child, and did not get to miss out on the intelligent and nerdy Disney World that once was. Thanks for these videos, very very much.
@peterdinosaurous There is a new ride occupying the space. Still a boat ride "Gran Fiesta" features the characters from 1944 Disney film, The Three Caballeros: Donald Duck and his friends Panchito, a Mexican rooster, and José Carioca, a Brazilian parrot.

I used to live in Florida, and when I went back a couple of years ago my whole family agreed that they ruined EPCOT.

That's what "Pirates of the Caribbean" was until the movies came out
with Jack Sparrow. There used to be no line and the AC was icy down
in the grotto where the boats are. You could relax & cool off on those
100 degree Orlando days in summer.
This July 4,(2011) we stood in line 70 minutes to ride and "search" for
Johnny Depp, whom we say appears 3 times but it might be more!
