@Orthodoxcrusader where are people being left to die? private charities always step in when people can't afford it, now if people don't speak up when they need financial help and die because of that, it's unfortunate.. as someone who has been heavily involved in charity work, I've never seen someone who's come and asked us for help left to die simply because they can't afford it, that's ridiculous.. it's not the federal government's responsibility

'Private charities'?!? Don't make me laugh, please... They can't cover not even 1% of the case... I mean that's like me personally deciding to help someone and deciding whom to help... If it was an official system embedded in the states institutions it wouldn't still cover 1000% but would do a significant part... atleast 70%... With citizens giving only few hundreds of dollars(or even much less) on a monthly basis...

However, I still maintain that The Federal Government does not belong in this business, our founders wanted a limited central government. If people want to do it at the state level, I'm perfectly willing to have that debate because this country was built on the sovereignty of the states. It is a state government issue to me.

Yes, it could be a state government also...

But that would only make it more complicated, the birocracy bigger and the overall service unbalanced... Unbalanced as some states would apply it better than the others and some wouldn't apply it at all... I guess sometimes they wouldn't allow you getting what's needed done in another state cause you technically aren't their 'citizen' so to say... It would only open new problems... Federal government handling it eases the job...

The Social Security, medicare and medicaid unfunded liability is astronomic - makes your complaint about military spending look like pocket change, that is not a sustainable solution.

Actually citizens wouldn't have to give nothing extra Just transfer few billions from multy(multiplied by 5-6 hundreds) billionic military budge. I simply can't understand people giving money to fund building a ultra-tech armada of from F-35s, F-22s, Supercarriers fighting people armed with a c4 straps, AK47s and boxcutters.

In the majority of worlds countries of which many are incomparably poorer than the US, including mine, people DO have quite humane form of the heltcare system... Not to mention that it seems logical the army funds itself, especially when it's the army that fight for the interests of the corporate elite, not the protection of the people...

P.S. In my country most of the people can't afford to have two American SUVs(many can't even one) but they CAN afford a CT scanner..
