All ship engineers should learn from the Titanic incident. A ship may have state of the art electronics, but if it doesn't have up-to-notch watertight compartments better than the Titanic, it is doom to sink fast. Did this ship have watertight compartments? You're right ships are getting too heavy for the waters. Lifeboats normally go on the top deck, but on modern/new ships, they are on about the middle height decks or lower decks, not on the top decks. Still that issue about watertight compartments. Has anyone fixed it?
I've always thought these super cruise ships look unstable and top heavy. It seems the ability to launch life boats became compromised very early on. Even a lesser accident on one of these ships I think they might have problems launching half of life boats because of listing.
I've also always wondered what would happen if one of these ships encountered any kind of rough seas.
Haven't they designed this ship with better watertight compartments better than the Titanic? But with the Titanic there was a flaw with the watertight compartments design (overhead). Since the Titanic disaster, all ships are required to have sufficient lifeboat capacity.

I'm from New Zealand where in the past few months a shipwrecking (The Rena) had taken place. You could call me a conspiracy theorist or crazy or whatever, but I'll tell you that this is no accident. It's too much of a coincidence that ship drivers are crashing like it's the latest trend. Not only do shipwrecks kill coastline life from oil leaks, the Corexit they spray to break up the oil poisons us! Mexico's experienced the effects of this nasty stuff. Our government clearly doesn't give a fuck.

@eruweraranj0r I am also from New Zealand. So called 'accidents' like this have happened a lot, past and present. I reckon it will continue in the future.
It seems to be a government tactic to stop people rioting.

The caption of the ship toke a different route to what normal ships would take so because of his move he hit the reef and the crew didn't realize the seriousness of the situation so the ship wasn't equipped to handle that amount of people trying to get of in an emergence so people are dead because of a stupid move

You're right ships are getting too heavy for the waters. Lifeboats normally go on the top deck, but on modern/new ships, they are on about the middle height decks or lower decks, not on the top decks. Still that issue about watertight compartments. Has anyone fixed it?

I've always thought these super cruise ships look unstable and top heavy. It seems the ability to launch life boats became compromised very early on. Even a lesser accident on one of these ships I think they might have problems launching half of life boats because of listing.
I've also always wondered what would happen if one of these ships encountered any kind of rough seas.

Haven't they designed this ship with better watertight compartments better than the Titanic? But with the Titanic there was a flaw with the watertight compartments design (overhead). Since the Titanic disaster, all ships are required to have sufficient lifeboat capacity.
