  • how would you distinguish 10X10 from 1X1? You'd get "1" in both cases...right?

    Nevertheless, impressive!

  • Dear Math, Grow up and solve your own problems!

  • I didn't listen, did he use latus multiplication?

  • that was fun! I had fun with 429 * 736 even though counting 240 dots/intersections was tedious.

  • HAHAHAHAHA THIS VIDEO WAS HILARIOUS!

  • Ummmm.... If you're brain is a little slower, normally, and can't multiply past 12x12 I have a real easy suggestion for you. Calculator but I found it semi interesting =]

  • the method isn't really anything new. it's just a different way of writing it down.

  • lol i could figure this out in my head in like 5 seconds. what a waste of time.

  • @rmsprowler

Then I would be afraid ad tell you to get a life:p

  • Okay, now do it with digits larger than three.

    ...

    Exactly.

  • If you want to become good at math go to my youtube channel: (Youlovemathematics). In my channel i will teach you everything about math step by step. I will start with teaching you (necessary basic math skills) and then I will teach you the more advanced math topics. Just click on Playlists when you are on my channel and you will be able to watch my math videos in order. I promise that i will teach everything in an easy way. Math is easy if you have a good teacher.

    youlovemathematics

  • That's an amazing method.

  • i like it all you guys shouled appriciate It and I have a math problem for the great minds out there it will be in my channel and i'll try psoting it as a video responce if he will accsept

  • This isn't new, about 30 years ago, a class mate in elementary school showed it to me.

  • this isn't new...

  • its so boring , banal , obvious, not practical , time wasting( in normal way its much quicker ) paper wasting ( for big number like 989 * 967 i guess you need an a4 paper) solution. you are just counting the crossing points which obviously each is created by a pair of any two digit multiple result kind of cunfusing with out showing on papaer but you know what i mean

  • not a formula, and not new

    FAIL

  • That's not actually new,it's rather ancient.I think chinese(if I remember well) people invented this method of solving ecuations.

  • its not very practical,i found formulas for math that wouldnt help anyone do anything, lol

  • its kool, but i think its more of hueristic

  • How do you know which parts to circle and when?

  • It's clever, but it's not really a formula. It's more of a gimmick. It's a creative way of organizing the repeating sums that constitute a product.

  • nice i love this formula thnx alot : )

  • Try adding consecutive numbers such as 1+2+3. Up to whatever number you want. I have come up with a mathematical formula that will work for that. It even works with fractions.

  • this is a good way. exelent. but. what if it was 999 X 999. theres alot of lines then lol

  • you can do that one in your head. 999x1000 - 999=998001

  • wow!!!!!!! i love it!

  • can you do some different numbers like 413 * 5222 i mean not only 3 or only 2 numbers

  • easy you guys are so dumb i found ten new ways to mutiplay anything

  • So much quicker than

    21

    13

    63

    210

    273

  • i did both problems mentally before you finished drawing the lines

  • fake

  • haha, how can you "fake" math? At least when it's so cut and dry like this?

  • Interresting..

    Yeah ! It's amazing !

    And not difficult .. Thanks ! =)

  • Well actually, if u need to draw 9 lines, for 9 than it takes up more space, and if u simplify that by just writing 9 and drawing 1 line, you get a different method that already exists, so this is actually making that method a bit harder and calling it a new method :> .

  • that is pretty amazing...

    lol

  • very interesting..

  • I work with fifth graders and they are going to love this. It's not practical, as were all taught a much faster method as children. Very interesting though...

  • No shit. Jeebus. This is God.

  • And this is different than using an abacus? That is essentially what you are doing no?

Just bust our the calculator next time.

  • This belong to maya's culture

  • I DID see it before because you stole that video, dipshit. and this is really no " hard mathematic problem" LOOOOL

  • I did it in my head in 4 seconds...thanks

  • I just did it in 3.

  • my teacher might get very angry if i do that

    .........

  • YES!!

2:29 in my life actually WORTH!

  • the drawing is cool but on i test i would much rather use my hand TI-89, it can do it much faster

  • kevinwsitu you are a retard he did get it right Moron

  • lol for the 123*321 he got the answer wrong

    it is actually 39483

  • Watch the video, he did get 39483. In the last few seconds, he adds the middle number, getting 14. This forms the middle digit, plus 10, which gets carried to the 8, forming 9.

These two examples are very easy. What happens when you try to multiply 987 by 789. You are going to end up with around 48 different lines.

  • lolz to u... u nv finished watching the video, or u are distracted

  • ...is that not what he wrote down? thats what i saw...

were u thinking it was 3g483?....cuz its not =/

  • cool top know there's stuff out there, but arithmetic is just so much faster

  • wasting time

  • hahas ... cool arhs !

  • wow nice! i mean i wouldnt use it that much but its really cool and original!

  • oh!man.

are you the same guy who talked about her trick?

    mn*pq=m*p*10^2+(n*p+m*q)*10^1+nq

    ...

so,you just count the point number n*p+m*q,

    but that's not cool.

you know why, because the time you spend to count the number of those points wonnt be less to that you caculate 10000*10000.

    OK!Little girl.

    Just Stop .

  • Mmmmm good job, this is exactly how Einstein, Gauss, Hamilton did multiplication not!

Sorry, this is no good. Real math solve real problems, everything else is just wrong, say how do you solve 2837 x 123.76 ? better refill that pen

  • 8496419846146 x 649496465.416851

    ok gimme the answer..

  • 55183946590000000000000

  • lol it took u 2 month to reply my comment..

  • of cource you wanna know how big the drawing was I made of this sum?

  • that takes u 2 month to draw?

    hahaahah

ok ok ... u win.. lol

  • if you could visualize that in your head without drawing it down it would be pretty cool.

  • i watched this on KBSworld last week and i think it's really cool. they showed that we can also use this method in multiplying 12 or more digit numbers.

sure you can solve smaller numbers by simple or traditional algorithm but it's also fun if you could learn other methods.

  • method of old egyptians. i leanred in school.

  • Sweet method, but not much use for multiplying >5 numbers like 968 x 657, take up a whole page!

But hey, I learned something today, thats awesome!

  • love this method younger kids can now learn multiplication a lot faster!!

  • Too bad you could solve the same two problems in 30 seconds using the traditional algorithm.

  • Does this method work with numbers besides 1, 2, and3?

    Quite creative.

  • Guys practice a little then try it with different/bigger numbers, all you need is to think a little more and you will get the correct answers. Very creative.

I like math and I like this video. Thanks for it :)

  • I have a much easier time undestanding math in numbers than in symbols.

  • well ur stupid then

  • i dont get it how do u work out which numbers go first (im 13 :p)

  • that doesn't really works try using 5 to 9 it's gonna messed up lolz...(^^,)

  • Or I could just use a calculater......

  • wow, you can't do math OR spell! I would keep a calculator AND a dictionary handy if I were you...

  • thank you for the comments! well ia m a math professor, and i am happy you viewers like this method! it took quite a while!

  • Well your obviously not a english teacher =P.

  • And YOU'RE an idiot.

If you're going to insult someone's grammar or spelling, make sure your own english is correct.

  • Wow, was that supposed to sting? I never said I was an english teacher, so what if I made one mistake. Your forgetting, this is the internet.

My comment was just made in jest, so calm down before that heart of yours fails. =D

  • lol

  • @pureKomedy

not bad buddy but i am still kinda confuse when u count the lines lol

  • you make a out of an equation a geometric problem - funny stuff. but sometimes you have to forget the calculus algorithm to be fast and accurate. my problem with this algorithm, that it is only fast for those kids that brains operate more graphically not those how have real problems in math.

when you want to learn a practical thing you have to do it.

  • Holy.

  • cool! our math teacher, my dad, showed us that + other stuff last spring :)

  • im so lost could someone explain it

  • how are you supposed to know where to break it up? like.. where do you draw those individual counting 'zones' ? this is also only really time effective for whole numbers whose individual digits are numbers closer to 1 than 9 (less lines)

  • what if there's a zero in the number like 506?

  • dude u should be a math teacher

  • Very cool, but takes awhile. Did you come up with that?

  • Bravo :D

  • Great one, has a lot of logic.

  • Multiplication is so hard for you that you have to do that to find the solution?

  • Nice, but too long to do.

  • wtf?
