  • i saw i guy with a 540BB with two huge turbo's very sophisticated make a estimated 3000HP inwhich 1000HP had to be tuned out to b drivable he ran like a 5.46at246mph...sumwhere along those lnes..low compression..huge boost setup.....high compression just means u pump fancy gas and caint run huge boost......if u want to go fast..lower the compression and increase the boost..youll be makeing more than what u make now.....also u can still run pump gas on this if u retard da shid out of the timing

  • for example a turbo may squeeze a xtra 6.0 literes of air/fuel mixture on top of the 5.7 literes or air/fuel already made if this were a 350 ...but if u running 12:1 compression you already hive too much cylender pressure on your 5.7 to accept a additional 6.0...so u got to lay off the boost..and say buy buy to mosterous power

  • You make the best HP with lower compression and tons of boost.This ultra high compression set up they got here seems to work good but expect more ware and tare on the pistons/con rods

    .its been prooven that a lower dome piston suffers less ware and tare and less overall pressue on the top of the piston this guy makes 900hp..i was thinking "thats all"?. u runnin all this super high compression i expected 1200+ that well..his pistons are already so stressed out he caint increase the boost anmore

  • An example I forgot to mention: Look at Top Fuel dragsters... The baddest of the bad. They have a CR of about 6.5 to 1.... They are also running about 100psi of boost. They aren't class restricted to a certain CR, so they obviously chose a very low number because it allows them to cram a larger amount of mixture, and run more boost then they would be able to with a high CR. I am just very curious about your setup, because practically all high boost engines use very low CRs...

  • @Longway2fall you also have to consider "island of diminishing returns" where, in order to make the 6000+hp needed to clear 1000ft/1320ft in less than 4.5 seconds you're going to need to give up static compression ratio. the amount of boost a top fuel engine makes exponentially adds to the high combustion pressures already. Plus at idle, the engine is in positive boost pressure so its ALMOST as if the engine is using a high compression build. the difference.... squish.

  • @rotor13 TRUE but the engine at idle "isent" producing much boost compared to "always" being at 12:1 compression....the amount of boost "does" add to the combustion pressure like you said "but" domed piston dont recieve pressure hits as much as high comp since the top of the piston is ferther away from the actual spark..

  • @rotor13 Well, top fuel engines have NO squish, so I guess what you are saying is that this motor has lots of squish, and that is why high compression is OK. I do agree that squish is a great thing, and lets you run higher compression, but I guess I didn't know the guy considered flat top pistons to be high compression... Anyways, this car is almost the same in the fact that it is always boosting, because as soon as it leaves the line it will be making boost...

    Also take to the fact the discussion we were having is a $150k motor vs an $50k motor (at the most). pretty impressive i would say, that an inline6 3.0 (assuming it isnt using a stoker kit) has the capability to make 1500+hp at nearly half the cost of a V8 engine whether n/a or blown, with nothing more than off the shelf parts.

  • The compression issue is a valid question... What CR are you running? Besides reducing detonation possibility (allowing more boost) I was under the impression that a larger chamber allows you to cram more air/fuel, like having more displacement. Cylinder volume+Chamber volume=total air/fuel volume, which would be more with a bigger chamber. Make sense? If you wanted more combustion pressure you could just increase the boost...

  • Funny how they are saying that running high comp pistons in this engine is dumb. Forced induction isn't about low compression, it's about increasing the pressure in the combustion chamber. Whether you start with 7.5:1 or 12:1, only difference is the amount of space the fuel/air is being pushed in.

    You'll always make more power with higher compression, on identical engines bolt for bolt. Trick is having the tune to back it up. High compression means lean burn and detonation are easy to come by.

  • saviouremmanuel its an Enderle 110 Fuel pump as used on V8 methanol engines with blowers and being my car i should know its a Fuel pump, The car makes just over 1100hp without the NOS running a big converter TH400.

    The car is the fastest small tyre supra( under 10.5 inch) in the world so i think we know what pistons to use :)

They are known around the world for their amazing work. 3rd) They know how to tune the car to their needs, you don't. 4th) Supras with over 1400hp (Ryan Woon, Cody P., S.W., John P. etc.) all have 3.4L stroker kit and MASSIVE tires to put the power on the road. This Supra is set to be the world's fastest on SMALL tires so no need to get to 2000hp because it will only burn rubber for the whole 1/4 mile.

  • @saviouremmanuel With how automotive technology has evolved in just the last 10 years.... you no longer need low compression pistons when theres A LOT better education on tuning and more quality parts and fuels that we have today.

    My boss built his 2JZ with 11:1 pistons pushing 35psi on an old greddy T88 making around 1000hp on 124octane with a REALLY lean afr and aggressive timing even for the race gas... still going strong after 4 years of drag racing

  • @rotor13 THE qusestion is why would u build a high compression engine .. and pump that fancy gas..when u can just build a lower compression engine with gobbs of boost and a boost controller....you will make more power....your engine will be under less stress . and you can pump 87 gas..not to mention u will make "way" more power than high comp engines...go figure

    87 octane? I hope you're exaggerating, as 87 has a very low resistance to detonation. Even when using massive amounts of boost, low octane fuel needs a much richer AFR, and very very conservative ignition timing to keep a motor happy, and the potential for power is lost and the fuel cost would be more than if using a higher octane fuel in the first place along with higher compression.

  • @saviouremmanuel not to mention you'll have the power band for as long as a few hundred rpm!!! what a waste of money..... all boost tuning is for people who want to create dyno queens... meanwhile actually building up the motor and not running as much boost, will allow for a much more responsive machine, perfect for ALL applications not sitting @ WOT for a few seconds, waiting for the turbo to spool and then riding the rev limiter until the wait for the next gear, in a line

  • @saviouremmanuel Yeah, try keeping your head bolted down at 60+PSI. Or just run 50psi on higher compression. Since when will you make more power on low compression? where the hell did you get that from, and how the hell will you run that much boost on 87 Gas, good luck getting a clean spark and neat combustion. Try E90 or Meth. I think GASmotorsport knows what they are doing, they have proved their selves over and over.
