  • Stokes hella tall lol

  • DAMN- Stokes is one S-L-O-W motherfucker !

  • LONG LIVE THE BRUINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah thats sehorn number 18 @ :36

  • Best UCLA vs. USC game ever! I was sitting on the 5 yard line in section 1 of the Rose Bowl. I distinctly remember the talk at our pre-game tailgate party, about how our walkon QB (John Barnes) was starting against our crosstown rival USC & we weren't sure how he would do. Well, he & the rest of the team showed the trojans what belief in yourself can do for you. Awesome!

  • I am looking for footage on Sean Conway. He is a center who will be playing college football for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers this fall.

  • love it, love it!! Go Bruins!

  • too bad Stokes sucked in the NFL

  • There used to be such classic, exciting games between these 2 schools now SC has just run the gauntlet. I admire Coach Carroll and the way he turned USC around but UCLA - what happened? The entire football program keeps "Rebuilding" itself year after year w/o success, bowl victories or anything.

  • the Dorrell years put the program back a few years. Now that the protocol son has returned (coach Neuheisel) and back to back top ten recruiting classes - were on our way back.. Go Bruins

  • i was 2 years old when this happend that was an amazing play! & i can even hear the grat Bruin Band in the backround i love it!

    -E$

  • Son - I was there at this game.

  • wow & how did u feel lol?

  • wow they should have put sehorn in against stokes he was at least 6'2 and fast

  • that should have come back! thats a false start on the tailback!

  • According to the NCAA football rules:

"One player may be in motion, but not in motion toward his opponents goal line. A lineman may not be in motion at the snap. Other players must be stationary in their positions without movement of the feet, body, head or arms ... ."

As the tailback wasn't moving forward (man in motion), and as long as he wasn't trying to simulate the beginning of a play (and that would have to be at the interpretation of the ref), he should be OK.

  • @rongee

No, that was pretty blatant false start...but I like J.J so screw them.

  • @drrll13 big deal. a minor issue which had no bearing on the fact that USC's defensive backs were little incompetent rats and couldn't keep Stokes from taking it 90 yards right in their faces.

  • Plays like this got me to pumped up when the Niners Drafted Stokes. It's too bad that he didn't pan out in the NFL.

  • Small school (Owens) vs Big, Pampered school (Stokes).... it was no secret JJ didn't have a great work ethic.... and Owens did....

  • JJ could have been great

    but ur right

  • You saw it right away watching 49ers games in 1996, you could honestly tell that T.O. was going to be a stud in the league.

  • Walk-on QB Barnes was watching this game from the coliseum's nose-bleed section the year before.

Disney bought the rights to his story.

  • THATS HOW WE ROLL!!!

    GO BRUINS!!!!

  • AWESOME!

    barnes to stokes!

  • sad days for our trojans..welp glad its just a memory. and good lord i forgot we had those ugly ass decals for a bit. 90s college ball was like another era....short jerseys but alot of guys i grew up admiring too.

  • Goddamn stokes was slow lol. Cool play though

  • Stokes was magic. I was 6 years old and in the stands at this game....what a memory, i'll never forget this play.

  • stokes was slow as shit. over rated big time.

  • That was the greatest Bruin play of all time! I was there on north east side about the 30yd line. It was amazing see this play develope and Stokes carry that pussy trojan into the endzone!!! Go Bruins!!!

  • that is Jason Oliver on D for USC, not Jason Sehorn

  • I know, but Jason Sehorn was also on the USC team during that year and played in that game (if you'd have watched a replay of the entire game, you'd know that). I was just mentioning players of note from both teams; Jason Oliver, IMO, didn't fit that description.

  • I WAS THERE TOO! One of my favorite memories of my time there.

  • sweet. watch this a thousand times and it never gets old.

  • I was at the game as well, sitting in the alumni section in the southeast corner of the Rose Bowl. This game remains my all-time favorite, not only for the way both teams fought back & forth, but for the story of how John Barnes rose from total obscurity to put on an absolutely stunning performance.

This game is scheduled to be rebroadcast by Fox Sports Prime Ticket this Saturday, 7/28/07, from 1AM-3AM.

  • I was there, and I will never forget it as long as I live. GO BRUINS!!!
