Can someone get this guy an award please? Ryan, the things that come out of that brain of ours is amazing! Keep up the amazing work! You ARE making a difference. The world needs more Ryans.
it's true of all victims not just natives. But i know natives are the most unprotected. They say "do something," what shall i do? My son is molested by his father and CPS throws the case out, prosecutor does nothing, what shall I do? Sometimes with abuse we are powerless. How do we act powerful when we have none.
This is a beautiful poem, and powerful video. I have a question for the 1491s that may seem really obvious, but is Sedelta Oosahwee related to Sarah Oosahwee-Voss? When I first saw her in the "Three Little Indians" clip I thought she looked really familiar. Sarah Oosahwee-Voss recently graduated from the master's program here at Central Washington University. I never met her, but I spoke with her husband, Eric, on several occasions and have seen her picture up in the anthropology department.
@TrekMofo2k6 I assume they're probably related, I just thought I'd ask to be sure. Love and respect to all of the 1491s from a Yakama Reservation "Rezican."
when my sister was raped in beltrami county, her attacker was never brought to justice because the county attorney didnt want to marr his perfect conviction record. i wish him more ill than the attacker himself.
Miigwetch for the heartfelt words as poem. All women matter what ethnic group can understand the importance of this message. Many of us come from violent backgrounds that do not honor women. Your message is important for women and men both. For women, it lets us know a male is prayerfully teaching this lesson to other men. For men, hopefully it will reach the abuser and cause a change of heart.
A nation is not conquered until the hearts of its women are on the ground. Then it is done, no matter how brave its warriors or strong its weapons.” Cheyenne Proverb.
Powerful, well written. the facts are there, the visual is awesome. As a survivor, Miigwetch Ryan Red Corn and all the men and ladies who made this possible. Miigwetch for not forgettin our mother aunties grandmothers neices daughters! As an Ojibwe woman, as a survivor, as a statistic...Gitchimiigwetch...you didnt forget us!
Im going to use this for work and I know the guys will use it for their groups as well . The more people we can show this too the more it will make everyone think.
fantastically amazing and it sent shivers down my spine....beyond words
OMG, i cant express how much this video is needed, i am absolutely floored by this... thank you so much, all over Mi'kmaq Country many who watch this, can only respond in Tears..................................
Nobody is going to save us, people in general care more about some damned movie star that their neighbor across town being murdered. We know what happens, in the old days our communities stopped this abuse. Get involved in the legislative branch, but find the courage to stand against it when you see it. We have to stop this ourselves - men and women with courage to stand up and not be quiet, not look the other way. Thank you guys, awesome job!!
Great production guys, you make me cry. As a woman who has been victimized and violated violently since before I can even remember, we as women have to draw the line and stand up for ourselves and others. Don't turn your head away or refuse to get involved, stand up and refuse to be quiet about this. Scream until someone hears you! Women are the live-givers and the ones who nurture our children - if we are going to turn around our societies it has to be US that do it!
WOW.....made me cry for all those who have gone thru these times and that still are!!!!! PLEASE be strong and stand up! Do something now for our loved ones!!!
This is so wonderful and I applaud you all for approaching this subject that needed addressing so badly in Native country and elsewhere. These statistics must change NOW.
