I have felt it and yeah it is an emotion that you get..but what do you prove by saying this...That because emotions are not physical you only get it through a spiritual source. Because there is more to life than physical. God is real. tired on facebook, i was just about to retire to bed. then i 'bumped' into this video. man, it's the best collection out there. what? some african-american church folks could have challenged michael jackson in a dance competition.
Been to this kind of church as a kid and learned nothing about the Bible. All they did was give a little sermon and then acted like a bunch jumping beans. They had to put us kids way in the back of the church so that we don't get hurt by these wild dancers. By the time all that was over there were chairs everywhere, like some riot took place. I thought it was funny and still do. I will never step foot into that church again. It's just pure entertainment and very little Bible education.
I will cut a rug for Jesus any time, any place and any day. I once was lost , but now I am found. Body filled with drugs and was dying at 17. I was not in a church but on the streets of Compton when I called on his name, I was off my high. So at 54 I am cutting a rug. I enjoyed the dancing, however, the one that really blessed me was the musician who got out of his seat! I know what prompted him to go into that dance. When God gives you the chords from heaven, it prompts you to go into an immediate praise. Everybody goes there in different ways and I probably would have done the same thing. I saw the Crip Walk, The Dougie, The Harlem Shake, The Twirk, The Electric Slide, The Shuffle, The Running Man, The Mash Potato, The Twist, The Lindsay Hop, The Wop, The Cabbage Patch, some tap dancing and even a couple of line dances all in the name of God. This is both embarrassing and entertaining at the same time.

I used to do this on a regular basis almost every Sunday, and it seemes like that was all I wanted to do. If we didn't "shout", I'd come home telling people "church was alright." We indeed DO need to grow up spiritually and start praising God by loving our enemies, by being honest and truthful in everything we do, and in not getting angry and flying off the handle when people cut us off in traffic, or looks at us cross-eyed. I hear people constantly point out how king David danced 'til he was naked, but I never heard anyone who uses this defense to all this display of emotion as to whether it really was right that David did that. All throughout the bible, nakedness is symbolic of sin. In Revelation, Christ tells us that there's SHAME in nakedness. If so many of you think that David's dancing until his clothes came off showing his nakedness is a GOOD thing, then why do't these people in the clip do the SAME thing??

@34oneshot No, dancing is not a manifestation of the holy spirit. The manifestations, or PROOF if you will that God's spirit resides in us are listed in Galatians 5:22-24. None of those listed include dancing and jumping around. Not saying that it's wrong to dance, and it's definitely not wrong to NOT dance. If one is excited, they jump and dance. Go to a football game, and people jump and dance when their team scores. Music tends to make us dance, and "black churches" are very musically-based

You can say the same thing about the church organ. It will draw emotions from that place. WE must be led by the Spirit. I am not exempt. Feeling and emotion is what usually leads us to dance or move. You see that as well at any football game across the country. Many people are confused about what the Holy Spirit is. I think the difference between Praise & Worship is important Anybody can praise God or express approval or admiration of; commend; extol But worship is what must be done in spirit and truth, some of these people force it clearly but they praising God & with that music playing it makes you want to dance especially if you can & one thing i find is people young in Christ tend to lack the self control the Holy Spirit imparts Like you shouldn't hurt yourself or anybody while praising. decency & order

this was interesting..i think some of them had a sincere praise and others you could tell were in the flesh...it was obvious some of them had practiced. It's sad how some people think they havent had "church" unless they knocked over a baby or swung from a chandelier but i believe some people are serious..No matter what, we still need to go to church because the Bible "is not given to private interpretation" and it is good for us to join together in the name of the Lord..everyone is not playin'

Welp to add rain to these fire comments, just because you shout and what not doesn't always mean you had church. Sometimes it's what was said in the message that would lead up to the shouting and the dancing, that's church. But if you have to dance or feel the need to dance for the Lord, the bible says just like some of you all said, even David dance before his Lord. And at the same time we have to be careful b/c now a days it's all hype, the people that is.

And before anyone gets on my case my two previous comments, I am NOT saying that it's wrong to dance, nor am I criticizing anyone in this clip. But I definitely agree with chachagirl612. I used to do this on a regular basis almost every Sunday, and it seemes like that was all I wanted to do. If we didn't "shout", I'd come home telling people "church was alright." But if we "cut loose" and got all emotional, I came home telling people, "WE HAD CHUCH!" We DO need to be careful about mass hysteria

We indeed DO need to grow up spiritually and start praising God by loving our enemies, by being honest and truthful in everything we do, and in not getting angry and flying off the handle when people cut us off in traffic, or looks at us cross-eyed. Remember, our REASONABLE service is presenting our bodies as living sacrifices, HOLY and ACCEPTABLE unto God. ANYONE can jump and dance and roll on the floor. A pastor I knew once said, "Even a MULE would dance if it heard music."

and last time i checked, there's no "code of conduct" on how to give God praise. Bible says: "do not call unclean what I (God) have made clean." So if God accepts it, why do u deny it? God bless u anyhow. u praise God the way you do. to my dancers, keep dancing into your victory, breakthrough, over your strongholds and over the enemy. oh, by the way, i was born and raised baptist but i do share the style of praise in the apostolic and cogic denominations. I hear people constantly point out how king David danced 'til he was naked, but I never heard anyone who uses this defense to all this display of emotion as to whether it really was right that David did that. All throughout the bible, nakedness is symbolic of sin. In Revelation, Christ tells us that there's SHAME in nakedness. If so many of you think that David's dancing until his clothes came off showing his nakedness is a GOOD thing, then why do't these people in the clip do the SAME thing??

I really hate the terms "white churches" and "black churches" WE ALL ARE THE CHURCH and not a color. @34oneshot No, dancing is not a manifestation of the holy spirit. The manifestations, or PROOF if you will that God's spirit resides in us are listed in Galatians 5:22-24. None of those listed include dancing and jumping around. Not saying that it's wrong to dance, and it's definitely not wrong to NOT dance. If one is excited, they jump and dance. Go to a football game, and people jump and dance when their team scores. Music tends to make us dance, and "black churches" are very musically-based

Some of this I seen is sad...alot of it is bodly excercise....coming from a musician (bass player) in the Church of God In Christ...my church is a WORD church..we hardly ever shout bit when we do its bcuz of the move of God, i have seen where ppl in church shout then the Word of God is goin forth they sleep...1 thing my pastor said dat is so true we as black are so emotional so quick to shout when music is being played, wat happens when da music stops?

@SuperHurricane75..let me clarify something. The prompt I am referring to is the Holy Spirit. For instance, when you danced in the world it was a song that inspired some emotions that made you dance. You can say the same thing about the church organ. It will draw emotions from that place. WE must be led by the Spirit. I am not exempt. That why I am praying and seeking him but I do not dance so easily just because the organ starts the keys. NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE.God bless.

@lightskinbruh you are correct. Now I am not saying that nothing is wrong for some instances I am just saying, I am not doing all this dancing anymore because I want to see the results in my life. We need the Word of God. David danced because he received the Ark of the covenant back. It was a dance he could not contain. Nobody made him do it, a man was not over him prompting him...NO. His heart was towards his God that he loved. So if you feel that prompt do it Amen... other than than.........

@34oneshot THIS IS ONE REASON, I AM SPIRITUAL, AND NOT RELIGIOUS. Even as a kid, I looked at them crazy, as I do now. I have had so many blessings that I cant even count. I have told GOD thank you, and cried. But I still do not, and wish not to understand the crazy dancing, and then being able to just stop, when the music stops. When my mother shouts, and dance, she has no recollection of any of it. IJS!

If we witnessed (passing out tracks, knocking on some doors, and inviting people to church on a weekly basis) as much as we shout, as the above video so eloquently showed us, we would have more converts to Christianity than the Islamic faith which is currently growing much faster than Christianity. Love a good dance, but lawd do I wish we would win more souls and stop church hoping looking for the next "Chicago Bump"! Time to Stop being a sounding brass and tiknling cymbal and win a few souls.

We have to do better. After all that jumping up and down still is not free. Still didn't learn or receive anything that u can take into the week with u and apply to ur actual life. We are so emotional driven at times it sad. Really it becomes just mass hysteria on Sunday mornings. Thanking God that I have grown up and spiritually matured.

When He speaks, or moves within us it is 2b applied & used throughout our lives w/ significant results not 2 just jump & flap around like insane disorderly humans. Im a praise & worshiper at heart but this insanity is what keeps people from church. This is why d church is seen as ineffective.

Feeling and emotion is what usually leads us to dance or move. You see that as well at any football game across the country. Many people are confused about what the Holy Spirit is. You grow up in church being thought that is the way God moves.Beyond all the traditional & religious rhetoric God is bigger! It's just sad to see that this is all that many people get out of church today.

Because there is One Spirit. And if they truly are in The Spirit then their expression would be similar. If we're doing a waltz then dance the waltz. I wouldn't expect someone to Tango beside me. When looking at some of the vids again. I think that some of this is only pure amusement - very sad.
I have seen videos on youtube of people dancing as if they were in a club. How would a church expect to bring the lost into the churches if this is what they see.
Some people are putting on step shows in these videos. This really hurts to see.
I pray that people will consider the Lord, when they decide to jump up and get busy. Consider why..

I do believe in singing, dancing, and making music to the Lord. Things should just be in order and there should be a time and setting for things.
I wouldn't invite my co-worker or such to a church that has folks jumping up and shouting all over the place. It would like more like chaos and they wouldn't come back.
People can control their bodies - the Lord isn't taking over their bodies - it's only choosing to express an emotion outwardly.

I wonder if most people shout and do this in order to be seen, put on a show, just because others are doing it, or just to do it, -
or is it just because you are really feeling the beat of the music at times - if so then the person really needs to check their heart. Seeing folks recording themselves - is God really on their minds.
