Much the same as TREVORSDAD I too have the phrases running in my head when out on my own. 'Plan for the left', 'lose the view.....', etc. Once again, brilliant video and commentary. Hope the throat improves sir,
I passed my DAS in November and I have found these vids invaluable. I ride and do my own commentary (I may be mad) to myself in the way Advanced does - I find this really helps me concentrate - a useful tool.
I had my assessed ride with Cov &Warks IAM last Friday - no surprise - average throughout, which is pleasing as I can now do a lot of learning the Advanced way.
The puil had never had any formal training, after passing his Direct Access, whne he went and boughtthe Pan European.
Yes a little too much commentary, but what I was trying to do was to encourage forward scanning, using a more responsive gear and moving in the carriageway to getthe view, based on safety. I tend to use a lot of chat, but we did without intercoms after dinner.
I always wonder when I do this commentary, is it instruction......The likes of IAM and RoSPA, seem to frown on it. Intercoms, don't use them. I like them as I can work in a semi controlled environment. But I have to be careful not to turn the client into a robot of myself. I have found a fair few clients look at the Youtube clips and are familiar with my teaching methods and don't object to the commentary. Next step is two way comms so they can talk back to me. It does work well.
I did DAS course. To much chatter in your ear is very distracting. Couldn't most of this could be taught in a class? I always say use causion, that way you'll live long enough to gain the experience etc.
He is one with his machine and the road, Aggressively dedciphering road information and taking countermeasures.
I like the way he is always approaching the turn from the best possible angle. This guy is 100% attention to the machine and the road. It so tempting to go into daydream mode. I do some of my best thinking on the bike, besides on the crapper.lol. Constant vigilance is a good thing to adopt. Than, I can learn to daydream, once I master this new type of aggressive thinking.
"But I have to be careful not to turn the client into a robot of myself. "
I cannot see that being a bad thing to happen. :-)

Not sure at what stage the "pupil" was at, but that is a hell of a lot commentary, he should be left to his own devices a lot more than that

Excellent, sure he has benefitted enormously. Things tend to quieten down after food!

Two way comms would be very unsafe, I reckon
