Today it is an independent country with a sizeable minority of Russians and Ukranians. There is part of Moldova that remained part of Romania though, and there is a part of Moldova that remained part of the Ukraine after the coutries that were taken over by Russia became independent again.

If one is a little child that loves own parents, but accidentaly did something stupid and broke something that child is afraid that he/she has upset his/her parents. The fear comes from the fact that one loves his/her parents and does not want to upset them.

So isn't the one who straied away from the right path the one who should fear God the most? Why should those who live the proper way fear God? I say Love and nothing else...
Usually one strays away from God because one does not fear Him. If one did fear God then one wouldn't stray away. Fear usually appears in unknow situations and its purpose is to protects us from doing reckless moves that might hurt us. There are different types of fears. The fear of loosing one's job or fearing your boss or fearing that one's enemy might attack him next time is not the same as the fear of hurting the one you love accidentally.

@calinmiron We must remember that we are created, so we are finite. Only the Mighty God is infinte in everything. So there is no comparision that can be made between finitie and infinite. No matter how much we grow we are still finite. So comparing God's love to us and our love to Him is from my point of view innapropiate.
What we can do however, is to offer our whole finite being to Him, just as He offered Himself entirely to us.

Of course we can image ourselves to be big, but the truth is that we are nothing more then dust, and these are not my words, but God's words that can be found in the Holy Scripture. This I agree with and it drives us to live by His word and be better people. But apart from that, one should not fear anything because this is one of the reasons why Jesus died for us. That understanding of the Tribulation in Revelation is not grounded in Orthodox Tradition, as I understand it. I believe the idea of a literal 7 year Tribulation has only really been accepted widely among the heterodox. Forgive me if I am wrong, I don't spend very much time dwelling on the end times, as my end is likely to come sooner than the world's end (maybe tomorrow?). Blessings to you in Christ.

@calinmiron We must remember that we are created, so we are finite. Only the Mighty God is infinte in everything. So there is no comparision that can be made between finitie and infinite. No matter how much we grow we are still finite. So comparing God's love to us and our love to Him is from my point of view innapropiate.
What we can do however, is to offer our whole finite being to Him, just as He offered Himself entirely to us.

Of course we can image ourselves to be big, but the truth is that we are nothing more then dust, and these are not my words, but God's words that can be found in the Holy Scripture. If saints are big persons is only because of God's love that can make from nothing everything that exists.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. So it is not fear of God but feart that we might upset God, fear that we might "hurt" the One we love and loves us back rather than fear of the consequences. This I agree with and it drives us to live by His word and be better people. But apart from that, one should not fear anything because this is one of the reasons why Jesus died for us. You have helped my understanding of this religion. Thank you again.

@pccrazy1000 i tend to say the opposite. There are many orthodox churches in America. It just depends on which language of service you prefer. There are lots of Orthodox Greeks, Russians, Romanians, Egyptians, English-men etc. etc. etc.

This is amazing. I was raised Catholic but my grandmother was Romanian and her family was Orthodox, and the more I read about the religion the more I wish I was raised with this religion...especially for the music.

i think Romanian Orthodox Church will unite someday all Christians, Orthodox and Catholics should be One Church, the first attempt was the Catholic Pope to visit a Orthodox country (in the first time of history) at the request of the Romanian Orthodox Partriarh, and they stood together sharing the idea that the Church should unite, i heard that the today Catholic Pope Benedict will come again for the 2nd time into a Orthodox country being welcomed in Romania

But unfortunately he did not come to Romania in order to accept that the catholic church has a deceiving teaching and, thus, accept the Ortodox way as the correct one, inherited from Jesus Christ Himself. The Pope came to Romania in order to strengthn the ecumenist movement.... which is, as you know, the pan-heresy of the 20th century. Therefore, we, as Ortodox Christians, are in great danger....

the Great Tribulation? This life is the Great Tribulation by which our robes of immortality are cleansed. We aren't saved from the Great Tribulation, we are saved by it. Beware of Christianity without a cross! Anyone who does not become a martyr for Christ's sake is not worthy of the Kingdom. Therefore, pray for me and all the world.

I am talking about the 7 years of tribulation mentioned on the book of Revelation, which all the hypocrites will pass through. That doesn't mean that our attitude today shouldn't be the same of our beloved martyrs. I am ready to die for the Kingdom. However, God will save your saints that did not live their life's in lies and laziness from that Great Day. This is Biblical. I will pray for you and the world. God bless you.

That understanding of the Tribulation in Revelation is not grounded in Orthodox Tradition, as I understand it. I believe the idea of a literal 7 year Tribulation has only really been accepted widely among the heterodox. Forgive me if I am wrong, I don't spend very much time dwelling on the end times, as my end is likely to come sooner than the world's end (maybe tomorrow?). Blessings to you in Christ.
