You guys did a great job with this.. Can't believe how close it looked to Borge! I'm trying to find more comedian/ piano combinations but so far Borge and Tim Minchin take the cake!
Great job guys; I have always wanted to play this with someone myself (might do it this January). Victor Borge is amazing. I am very lucky because he played Happy Birthday--or his rendition of it--in concert for me when I turned 10. The memory has stuck with me ever since. Keep up the great work you two!
Well, although one of the guys is weaker pianist then another it's still a good effort and it's nice to see Victor Borge genius isn't forgotten. Although they were missing the main ingredient of his charm: he did most of his humor with straight face and delicate nuance, not clowning. That's the trick.
I expect simply the place wouldn't let you smack closed the lid to the piano that you didn't do the last switchover with the upper man playing the last two notes before slamming the piano closed...
@santiagogarridonov It says in the description "This routine is an adaption from the Victor Borge rendition" and I'm sure it was announced as such. It's not plagiarism, but a tribute to a great man.
Non posso crederlo..."sempre intenti ad esaltare la mediocrita"... Of course, everyone: take out a pen and paper and write how many GENRES that "noi Americani" have invented in the last century alone... OKay, now, Italy.... Hmm, interesting comparison... And as far as being "i pagliacci della musica"... as if La Triviata and William Tell are really works of gravity!
NEWSFLASH: Music did not end in 1937. I know you probably only think of music as either classical music or barbarism, but have you ever considered that for Americans "forse c'e una serietà ne loro mestiere" that you don't understand? I don't mean MTV— this is equally crappy everywhere— but all the brilliant, innovative musicians I found myself surrounded by in America... Some of whom are on tour in Italy right now. (Cosa volevi dire quando hai detto "potete suonare solo in america?")
I love Italy— and Europe— but when Europeans pick out fun, light-hearted things we do, like this talent show, and try to use them as proof for a groundless, idiotic, Eurocentric snobbery, it drives me crazy.
What if I judged you by Italian television and Berlusconi? But seriously, what has Italy given us in the last seventy years? Let's enlighten each other..
I like this idea that rock, hip-hop, and noise music was already there in Ravel's time ... I'd love to read a book on that one!
I'd love to respond to you in Italian but I haven't practiced it in quite some time. First of all I would like to say that the man who created this comedy sketch, Victor Borge, was Dutch and when he wasn't "fooling around" was a very accomplished pianist.
The United States has had many amazing composers such as Alan Hovhaness (Mysterious Mountain), Aaron Copland (Appalachian Spring, Rodeo, Fanfare for the Common Man), George Gershwin (Rhapsody in Blue, Porgy and Bess), Leonard Bernstein, Edward MacDowell (To a Wild Rose), Samuel Barber (Adagio for Strings), Phillip Glass, and John Williams.
The U.S. has also inspired great music such as Dvorak's "New World Symphony", Puccini's opera "Girl of the Golden West" and Delius's "Florida Suite" and "Koanga". If you haven't heard of these composers or heard their beautiful music you have been deprived of something wonderful and I feel sorry for you. No, they aren't Mozart, Bach, Chopin, Lizst, or Paganini but that doesn't diminsh the splendor or caliber of their work.
Man , maybe you don t' undestand the question, I am a pianist and I know everythings you have written and more probabily. Yes I know the american's composer, but you are talking in the past, NOW music in u.s.a is that, talent show, exhibitionism, television, interview....this is a shit.
If you want to study good classical music, because you mentioned classical authors, you have to live here in EUROPE.
I repeat...you live in the past . Glass was born in 1937 and williams in 1932.... you speak about old school, now, contemporary, you can mention Elfman, Menken and so on but i repeat . IS NOT the question.
You have wonderful taste! It's lovely to know that Victor Borge's genius is still appreciated and that those with talent want to continue his legacy. It takes a lot of talent to imitate a genius. You did it well!
Pity the camera was too far. Anyway, in spite of the these two players' effort, they are no match to Victor Borge. Instead of imitating him, they should try and put a funny act of their own. They play well enough to be able to do it.
I have been a fan of victor borge since the day before I was born.... Let me say that he's most certainly smiling wherever he is, knowing that people are still laughing at his work, and even more so, very proud that there are musicians out there taking his ideas further.... hehe, Gladiators, I salute you.
Very good work young men. I'm very happy to see a new generation appreciating the fantastic musical and comedy work of one of the masters of a past generation. Victor would be standing up and applauding you!
wow that was absolutely fantastic and you did it so well. top marks i hope you won your talent quest lol. is it at all possible to get the music off you? please please let me know. thnx = )
Did you use a solo piano piece or the duet version? Can you tell me where you got your music? My sister and I want to perform this for her final recital for her high school senior year. Please reply~ The video was awesome! Great job!
To even play this song the normal way is amazing, and it must have taken incredible skill and a lot of practice to master Victor Borge's routine. 5 stars.
actually dungareeboy is right on one part try to make your own personalized performance... nothing feels better than to pull it off...but nicely done on this piece
Excellent job, great for a couple of young people. Who cares if Victor Borge did it.... that's not the point. The guys did a great job. And who doesn't love to see handsome young men playing the piano. Sincerely, A piano teacher.
A good copy of Victor Borge, but noone will ever be able to match VictorBorge for this incredibly difficult and humourous send up of Liszt`z Hungarian Rhasody
you guys did great, I'm a big fan of Borge and you did him proud.

4 potete suonare solo in america.
