You're mixing a lot of chemicals and substances together, some of which were never meant to be mixed together and then you are cooking them at various different tempertures. The tempertures when you cook this stuff has be almost exactly right. Being off by as little as three or four degrees can cause the entire place to explode.

i'm studying chemistry at leeds and amphetamine manufacture is not a precise or even complicated procedure it's just that the solvents used as with any type of lab are highly flammable, and the sort of people that want try to make meth don't know how to handle chemicals.

I grew up in a very nice suburban neighborhood, very white-picket-fence, friendly residents, lots of kids riding bikes.

The guy across the street had a meth lab in his garage and was hauled off by SWAT, and two streets over a lab actually blew up and burned down along with two houses next to it.
