  • Im Maryland our weather is very spontaneous, regular 50/50 Radiator fluid will be jus fine for those freezing nights

  • Yes that helped I'm in canada so I guess I run rad fluid especially since I can't have the water freezing when I store my bike in my cold ass garage! Lol keep up the great work you have lots of followers now, I love your vid's you guys have giving me the confidence to do this stuff myself! Thanks again!

  • @markus0933 Yeah, you would want to continue to use rad fluid. There is no problem at all using rad fluid, we just choose not to down here in the Texas heat since going with water and the "Water Wetter" alone makes the bike run a bit cooler. It doesn't have anti-freeze powers though. And thanks for the compliment! Be sure to see our website and become an "R1 Insider" and of course, email us anytime if you have a question or need a tip.

  • so you drained your rad fluid (green rad fluid?) then filled it with just water? does the r1 just run on water not actual rad fluid? im confused/.

  • @markus0933 yes, we do that so the R1 runs a hair or two cooler. We only use water and a product called "Water Wetter" as seen in the vid. However, this method will not keep your fluids from freezing. You should use radiator fluid if that works best for you. You can run it either way though, this is just a mod we do. We are in Texas and keep our R1's out of the elements so we don't need to run radiator fluid in our bikes. That help?

  • Excellent vid, could you perform or show a diy maintenance of the necessary checks, replacements of fluids on a R1 06 nearing 35000ks? :)

  • @descern3 we will add this to the list of video requests for you. the next to come out have already been shot and are still needing to be edited. They are about changing break pads, break fluids, and installing steel braided break lines. More to come! Thanks for watching!

  • great explanatory vid, btw do you have to raise temperature with radiator cap off and let it bubble out? are you not wasting product? cheers

  • @descern3 nah, not really wasting product since you cut it off as soon as it bubbles and add more water (we use water because it doesn't really freeze in Texas)

  • @MetlHead37 check out the website, R1Videos.com - - we are now posting readers rides and/or parts for sale for FREE. If you have something you are trying to sell, send us the info and we'll post it for you. (THIS GOES FOR ANYONE SELLING ANY BRAND OF BIKE OR SPORTBIKE PARTS)

  • What's the worst that can happen, if you flush your cooling system out with the garden hose, using just tap water?? while engine is running !

Then replace it with new pre-mixed coolant.

  • @MetlHead37 that only works if you live in Australia!

  • @R1VideosdotCom how is your water different from ours?

it's all chlorinated, and fluoridated like ours?

  • @MetlHead37 Ours is that hard Texas hill country water, soap even has a hard time makin bubbles in it. Full of minerals and who knows what else

  • Shooting on the next How To video begins this weekend. Post production to follow, so sit tight and get ready for a video series on Breaks - how to change break pads, how to remove breaks, how to change out break lines to steel braided lines, and more.

  • The videos are great and extremely informative. Can you guys do a video on changing spark plugs. Also a video on installing flush mount signals & h.I.d. Headlights? Keep up the good work.

  • @SlickaOfCitySlickas thank you! Yes, those requests are on the list now. Thank you for suggesting, as we are open to any and all requests. Please be patient though, in order to provide you the best quality videos that are "extremely informative" we have to put in a ton of work on each video production. Glad we are able to help you! Check out the site and email us anytime if you need a tip or advice or just to say hello. Stay visible!

  • Thanks MAN You are expert high class

in Poland You are a hero!!!!

my rn12 need this, me and my friends waiting for a next vid.

    God luck

  • @martinnigsxf750 thanks, How to change and mod your breaks is next. I am part Polish so it's very cool to hear from you guys out there!

  • You guys are great, thanks for mentioning me at the end ... \m/

I will do the same for you at the end of my next video for sure.

I'm just waiting for the chance to take my fairing to the paint shop and prepare it for painting.

  • @MetlHead37 hey man, we're YouTubers and fans of others too! Guess you could say we're even fans of our fans work. This is all about community and so we had to show love to your site and videos like you do to ours. Good to see other's ideas, bikes, and setups.

  • Another good and helpful vid. Keep it up.

  • @jearlj1987 thanks! we got more on the way!

  • haha the audio works perfect this time round hehe!

Here an idea for ya's ...

Do a video on "How to, wear in your new road tyres, or race track slick tyres".

That should be a good video for you guys to do eh?

I'm buying the new "Pirelli Super Bike PRO" slicks for track days, for my 07-08 R1.

Or... Do a video on removing your stock chain and fitting a new "O" ring chain + replacing the front sprocket with a smaller toothed sprocket for better acceleration, etc.

  • @MetlHead37 this will be put on the list since we already did this a while back but didn't shoot it because R1Videos didn't exist yet. We'll go back and redo it for you though. Next video on the list will be shot in a couple weeks and will feature: How to install steel break lines, how to remove and change out front break pads, etc. Headed over to your channel now to check out the vid!

  • @R1VideosdotCom sweet as mate, I know how to do everything in all of your videos, I just enjoy watching them.

    Thanks, from Cam.

  • @MetlHead37 Thanks, we're glad you watch and comment. Your bike is sick and so is the new video! I like the red and all the mods you did. We gave you some love at the end of this video along with some other really cool folks that watch and subscribe. I'm going to do an annotation link out to one of your videos to send a little traffic your way. Wish I could keep my R1 inside my house like you do! That's where she belongs to keep her clean and safe!!
