If I was Superman, I woulda froze him into a block of ice with my breath, then threw him into outer space, then lasered him so the ice block melts and he catches fire, then falcon punched him out of the solar system.
i think its funny that the punch off gaurd knocked him down, yet Christopher Reeves Superman got hit off gaurd by sum kind of croughbar on the back of the head and he didnt even flinch or move, the bar trembled, brandon roughs superman got shot with a machine gun to the body and eye ball and he didnt even blink...
@PROGAM4R I would think Sups rolled with the punch to protect the guy who hit him. He did that for Batman once otherwise he would have crippled himself. :)
@PROGAM4R um wasnt this the cyborg episode built by lois lane father who in this series was some kind of an inventor...... and not a general like in smallville...
Steel is used to reinforce concrete so its pretty goddamn obvious concrete is so much weaker than steel. I kno, a concrete block smashed over my head but I'm sure a block of steel the same size would've put my ass in the hospital.
@TheRushingWind Obviously, not a comic guy, are you? His hand broken and his mind out of his place, if we follow comics physics and Superman's physique. That would be the result... Haha...Comics...Anyway, take care.
1983dave@ you seen how that guy punched through that cement wall in the locker room, superman didnt expect alil more power with the punch he took the guy must had been on some serious roids.
@1983Dave1983 He's human, but he's got like bionically enhanced arms or something. I don't really remember, since it's been a long time since I've seen these. I remember he had some mechanical or bionical upgrades done to his arms, which gave him superhuman punching power (hence why he can blow a hole in a solid wall).
Cyborg or not, the dude wouldve broke his hand on the first punch to superman. He wouldnt have even moved his head. This show was stupid. A strand of supermans hair can hold a ton of weight, but you think a 190 pound cyborg and knock the man of steel down with a suckerpunch? No.
Supermann was a German creation from Friedrisch Schiller.
But the Comic version from Superman is a american story from a Jew. Thats wy in germany we said in the NS regime Superman is a Jew. I like the origin Supermann (in German with two "n") from Schiller.
I end up saying this whenever I happen to click on this video every couple months...
A) The boxer dude is a cyborg.
B) It's perfectly possible to be knocked down by a punch that doesn't hurt you. All you need is to be off balance, like say leaning forward with hands out the way Superman was there.
@WindupAtheist I'll add that it's consistently shown in the comics that Superman has to deliberately brace himself to become immune to physical force, and if he is thwacked whilst unaware it can momentarily phase him.
@WindupAtheist Very nice. It's a mistake they make in comics too. Completely missing the fact that no matter how powerful, he is shown to be 100kg or so and so not stuck to the ground. The problem is that he actually has to weight several megatons or more because of his dense molecular structure based on the original theory. They missed this "tiny" detail not having to deal with mini earth quakes on every foot step, buildings collapse when he lands on them and so on... :)
Superman thought he was only human so Tommy Caught him off guard... I think Superman senses how strong his opponent is and raises his power higher depending on how strong the person is he is fighting... Tommy's like Cyborg from Teen Titans :) so Superman raised his power accordingly to Tommy so he couldn't hurt him lol
@spiderman0003 That would be Superman holding back. If he was not holding back, then that person's bones would be pulverized in a nanosecond after the punch touched him.
they really need to make it so that anyone with a great degree of super strength is able to harm Superman. goddammit why did John Byrne have to leave the comic? he reinvented Superman better than we could believe (though his lack of super intellect pissed me off in a way) but still he made the Man of Steel a little more believable. god bless you John Byrne!!!
unless that Tommy guy was part of some kind of super scientific experiment, I'm not buying this story at all. These shows ( except Smallville) are killing the Superman concept, degrading it
@megaboy28 except smallville? smallville was the worst at degrading superman, oh im sry i mean "the blur". he has his ass handed to him by almost everyone he fought and every other episode he was either losing his powers somehow or being taken down by kryptonite. you'd think the whole planet of krypton fell to earth. the first several seasons were great, but after that the show really went down hill.
Wtf? He first hit him and he was knocked down?? Was he faking? Wtff doesn't make any sense, as all other hits didn't had any effect on Superman like it fucking should have!!
The creater of superman made him invinceble, apart from using kryptonite on him. He is by far the ultimate superhero. No other superhero would stand a chance because others are mere mortals.
If Superman didn't move his head from any of the punches, then the guy's hand would've shattered. So, if it bothers you to see that the punches moved Superman's head, consider it Superman's way of being courteous to the jerk who otherwise didn't deserve it.
And yes, Superman could've flicked harder, but he's not trying to gross out the audience by scattering guts and skull shards all over them.
Probably, but Lois & Clark was rife with things much more stupid than this. Does anyone remember the episode where Metropolis had a heat wave and Luthor managed to convince people it was because Supes was solar powered? How would Superman (or anything else) being solar powered make the sun hotter? How would anyone believe this for even a second? But that was the whole premise of the episode.
Could go on but I'm running out of characters. Suffice it to say, this show was always ridiculous.
Even if super man was holding back with that much force coming from a small area, his finger, I'm sure it would be enough to punch a small hole in the guys forehead
This was one of my favorite Superman moments, where he beats the guy by smirking and letting him break his hands. Noise about "Dean Cain shouldn't have flinched or moved at all with another actor punching at his face!" or "ABC should have broadcast Superman grusomely decapitating a guy with a flick!" is just wank.
Maybe he can flick harder, but chose not to kill the guy. You don't know. What, Superman is supposed to have NO way of subduing a normal human without killing them?
Thats bullocks, a punch to Superman anywhere shouldnt even bugde him, but this punch knocked him down? Thats not superman thats a guy in a superman costume only.
@Narutofan9663 Anyone can be decked by a cheap shot like that, even if the punch does zero damage. It has nothing to do with how tough you are, and everything to do with balance. Now maybe you can argue that Superman should be too fast to ever get sucker-punched, but assuming he lets himself get hit? The punch doesn't have to hurt him to move him.
@WindupAtheist Well the punch DID hurt him, try to look!! He shaked his head like being down for a moment, knocked out for some seconds ...by what, a some stupid cyborg? It has nothing to do with being 'off guard', a real Superman should never felt it! This scene is TOTALLY the most embarrassment to all of Superman that I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot!
Btw, Superman lost the fight, as he was down for more than 10 sec! He was down from 1:00 till :1:20, thats 20sec! All I can say is W T FF!
@JiS01 Superman has stated in several comics that he finds it funny that most enemies of his think that all it takes is some big machine or superpower to hurt him. Then he states that it is a lot easier than most think to hurt him, the problem is keeping him down. He gets knocked down and "hurt" quite often, the problem most enemies don't understand is that the real issue is making sure he stays down. Superman does not give up, that is just one of the traits that makes Superman so great.
@idgarad Tom Welling is 6ft 4. 210 pounds and has the chest expansion of 62cm.... And you think he can't fit the costume? His body destroys any actor that has ever played Superman. Sorry, Dean Cain is only 5ft.11 and I don't think Superman should be played by a short guy.
In an article by Rob Allstetter of The Comics Continuum, he quotes Sam Jones (a 5'7'' member of the cast) as saying: I asked, "Hey, Tom, how tall are you?" Welling himself has stated: "I'm almost six-foot-three."
I'm 6'3'' 206 lbs. and I'm slightly taller than Tom when I met him at comic con last year. I don't think his body "destroys any actor" that has ever played Supes.
Chris Reeve was the biggest who ever played Superman at 6'4'' 225 lbs. at his peak. He owned them ALL!
@brianrockylee Batman was played by Val Kilmer, Micheal Keaton, etc. who are short when Batman is suppose to be almost as tall as Superman. Neither Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Manhunter or Wonder Woman should be played by someone short when it's already established in the comics they are tall.
shouldn't have even moved his head :57. Bones in his hand should have been immediately broken to pieces. When he flicked his skull, decapitation by force of flick. I have to agree with "Ace942's" comment.
I adore the 90's and this show - my personal favorite Superman adaptation. Dean Cain is definitely the most handsome Clark ever. Teri Hatcher shines here and her haircut was epic. Also Tracy Scoggins's Cat should've been in more seasons. Very nice & entertaining series. I loved many TV shows in the 90's - this one, Acapulco H.E.A.T., The X Files, La Femme Nikita, Melrose Place, Spy Game, RoboCop The Series, L.A.Heat, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Pretender, Babylon 5, SeaQuest, MK Conquest, Amazon, Lexx
My favorite scene, but it's confusing to me. This guy knocked Superman off his feet, he's shaking it off like it hurts, but apparently he was able to take his punches all along as shown. I know how our comic book Superman is, but they change him a lot on the screen. According to him in one issue, "hurting me isn't the hard part. The hard part is surviving me." And I'm out.
Pressure=Force/area. So all that power concentrated on the tip of superman's finger would have created enough force to cause that guy's head to explode like a watermelon.
@Supereyes27 he doesn't HAVE to but i don't think it hurts. I think it makes him look confident and really unimpressed by the boxer, which is what i'd expect in that situation.
@MartinLescanoRuiz I never liked LOIS AND CLARK. SMALLVILLE was good the first four seasons, but it's just getting progressively more ridiculous as they keep holding back his becoming Superman.
@GoblinXXX Cain is NOT Hawaiian but if he were, who cares? Superman is from Krypton. Who says Kryptonians can't look Hawaiian? If anything it would make sense since their sun was supposed to be a different color than ours.
I really hate that about Superman stories. They always have to find some way to reduce or make superman weaker to have a story at all. I think it gets used way too often. This is why I like Superman II since he was fighting others with similar abilities so that it makes the story more interesting.
@ace942 Superman needs to be somewhat depowered-- Byrne tried to do that after the CRISIS, but I don;t think it stuck. He could be a lot less powerful and still be the baddest ass hero in the DC universe. His superspeed is what bothers me the most-- Does he NEED that, at least anything like Flash level? I'd keep his super fast flight, but he doesn't need reflexes since he never needs to dodge anything.
@spiderman0003 Or more accurately maybe, your head would either tear right off your shoulders from the force...either that, or explode like an egg being hit by a rocket-propelled hydraulic piledriver.
This is why Batman wouldn't stand a chance against Superman, Superman could too quickly use his superspeed and knock him out with one finger. I have to say I would love to see it in the comics, but it would piss of Batman fans big time LOL
@APriceProduction You forget Superman's Morals. Batman has little. Batman would gladly kill superman using kryptonite if superman became trouble. While superman would have reservations harming Batman if he knew he could potentially kill Batman. Watch the TAS Batman & Superman to see what I mean.
Batman will take the shot when it counts. Superman will hesitate and reconsider.
@APriceProduction the thing that holds superman back is his attitude. he is too nice. otherwise, he could beat batman like that. but batman palys off superman being nice and kind of naive
he may not match the comics, but this superman has always been the most enjoyable to me. not to say that he's my favorite one, but he's definately the most badass
If I was Superman, I woulda froze him into a block of ice with my breath, then threw him into outer space, then lasered him so the ice block melts and he catches fire, then falcon punched him out of the solar system.

Correct dude...and in this case, Superman was taking a bow at 0:56 (therefore didn't see it coming) when Tommy sucker-punched him for the knock-down.
Had the Man of Steel kept staring at Tommy, he would've either dodge the sucker punch or take it head-on with little to no effect.

Biggest physical challenge for Superman in the first season of this.

Pressure=Force/area. So all that power concentrated on the tip of superman's finger would have created enough force to cause that guy's head to explode like a watermelon.

I hate how at 1:25, why the fuck does he always have to cross his arms to look super?
Supereyes27 1 year ago
@Supereyes27 he doesn't HAVE to but i don't think it hurts. I think it makes him look confident and really unimpressed by the boxer, which is what i'd expect in that situation.

what do you think is better smallville or lois and clark the new adventures of superman
MartinLescanoRuiz 1 year ago
@MartinLescanoRuiz I never liked LOIS AND CLARK. SMALLVILLE was good the first four seasons, but it's just getting progressively more ridiculous as they keep holding back his becoming Superman.

I think Dean Cain was a great choice he has that superman innocence and kindness.
wildfilms365 1 year ago
You know, a younger Dean Cain would have looked like a better Captain Marvel than Superman.
intrepidlikes 1 year ago
@intrepidlikes yeah I agree. Because in my opinion that Dean Cain doesn't look match as superman. He looks like Captain Marvel a little bit! lol
RoyalBengal21 1 year ago 4
@RoyalBengal21 Cain look Hawaiian to me. I never thought he looked right as Superman.
GoblinXXX 1 year ago
@GoblinXXX Cain is NOT Hawaiian but if he were, who cares? Superman is from Krypton. Who says Kryptonians can't look Hawaiian? If anything it would make sense since their sun was supposed to be a different color than ours.

I guess in the end Tommy found out why he is called Superman
ace942 1 year ago
I really hate that about Superman stories. They always have to find some way to reduce or make superman weaker to have a story at all. I think it gets used way too often. This is why I like Superman II since he was fighting others with similar abilities so that it makes the story more interesting.

CadillacL 1 year ago
@ace942 This is mostly happening in movies ect. In comics, he has very strong oponents.
Ikarosus 1 year ago
@ace942 Superman needs to be somewhat depowered-- Byrne tried to do that after the CRISIS, but I don;t think it stuck. He could be a lot less powerful and still be the baddest ass hero in the DC universe. His superspeed is what bothers me the most-- Does he NEED that, at least anything like Flash level? I'd keep his super fast flight, but he doesn't need reflexes since he never needs to dodge anything.
GoblinXXX 1 year ago
@ace942 That's the flaw with Superman, he's too powerful so it's hard to write any decent stories or fights
ojideagu 1 year ago
@ace942 This is a version of Post Crisis Superman, of course he's got to be weaker than Silver Age or current Superman.
MasterMacLeod 9 months ago
@ace942 i can't see why you think that - he is not weak at all - he trashed that eggnog of this earth.

I loved the early season's. This was a fun one. Dean Cain was almost an actor , sometimes.
jayce79 1 year ago
@57 seconds that guy should have broken his hand there, and superman should have just either flicked him after that punch or ignored it.... sheesh

Only Muhammad Ali knocked out Superman, no, Im not kidding...
CidSeptimo 1 year ago 14
@CidSeptimo Yeah, because Superman didn't have his powers going to the fight. Ali basically fought an inexperienced Clark Kent. Cool story, though.

PeekaPeep 1 year ago 7
This is why Batman wouldn't stand a chance against Superman, Superman could too quickly use his superspeed and knock him out with one finger. I have to say I would love to see it in the comics, but it would piss of Batman fans big time LOL
APriceProduction 1 year ago 13
@APriceProduction You forget Superman's Morals. Batman has little. Batman would gladly kill superman using kryptonite if superman became trouble. While superman would have reservations harming Batman if he knew he could potentially kill Batman. Watch the TAS Batman & Superman to see what I mean.
Batman will take the shot when it counts. Superman will hesitate and reconsider.
WhiteTiger225 1 year ago
@APriceProduction the thing that holds superman back is his attitude. he is too nice. otherwise, he could beat batman like that. but batman palys off superman being nice and kind of naive
