  • This could have been modernized by Schindler because the floor switches before it gets there.

  • No - it's an Otis. All of the otis elevators I've seen with the 80's (non-braille) buttons and the narrow panels are pieces of crap.

  • I am amazed it works. (lol)

  • The elevator was actually broken a week earlier.

  • i like the more modern otis fixtures better than those ones

  • that is a slow eelvator I hate slow elevators

  • its about as slow but wayy louder like the loud dover death trap and my mall has the same type its a death trap it also slips and it is extreamly loud almost brunt my ears at the comcast connections court at woodfield mall schaumburg il

  • what is car top

  • That switch enables the car top inspection panel.

  • needs to be modernized

  • could use a bit of modernazation

  • for what is the reset button??

  • It resets the floor calls in case the elevator is used in fire mode.

  • like a call cancel button

  • no it's just a call cancel button renamed reset. Has nothing to do with the fire operations. Unless you are familiar with the fire operation of elevators?

  • The call cancel button only works when in firefighters' operation mode.

  • ha ha no it doesn't. call cancel works anytime you push a floor you didn't want. you hit call cancel (reset) and it cancels it. hence "call cancel." do you know what fire operation is?

  • I know what it is. I actually have not tried call cancel without a fire key - I might just do that. From what I have read, Call Cancel only works in firefighters' operation mode, in case a firefighter accidentally goes to the fire floor.

  • "call cancel" cancels any calls outside the elevator so the firefighter can get to the fire floor to help people who are stuck on that floor

  • Sort of. Some elevators do not use a call cancel button to cancel an inadvertent call. Instead you would press the button with the wrong call twice to delete it. Watch "Hotel Elevator Buttons that turn on and off."

  • Those are only offered on some Mitsubishi and Toshiba elevators in Asia, as they do not conform with American standards.

  • I think it only works in fire service to skip floors hack it

  • Did you watch the video "Elevator use in fire buildings?" cause that's not true. If a firefighter did inadvertently go the fire floor, they would simply take their finger off the open button.

  • I agree with music, at least for dover and T.K. elevators, the call cancel only works when in fire mode. I have and have to use the fire operations mode quite often where I work. I have pressed it when not in fire mode and there is no response. Other brands may work though.

  • Mostly, it boils down to local regulations.

  • The elevator at Barnes & Noble only goes 2 floors and is much slower than this elevator.

  • Yes, but it's very slow for a 4 floor elevator.

  • how slow though? what is the normal speed it should run at?

  • This one runs at about 100 FPM, a bit slow. Most run at 150 FPM, with some running at even 200 FPM.

  • whoa 200? whats the rules on brakes at that speed?

  • ThyssenKrupp makes elevators that go that fast. I have been in elevators that go 1600 FPM - express elevators going to skydecks.
