this tkd is an expert. he do not just do 1 kick and done. he does combo to make sure that if his first kick missed or blocked, his 2nd kick will do the job. and in tkd, arms are more for defending then attacking. so he will choose his piority.

Most people call it a set up. In boxing it might be a jab and a low cross to set up an upper cut that the guy leans into. In MT its the high hands that lead to a low kick or in Kyokushin the low kick to be checked that turns into a high kick. Its called a set up. Smart fighters do it and when you mix it up the other fighter has no idea what the "weak as hell" attack is until its too late. Two weak shots and you open up for a third that isn't? tkd is not only about kicks. the only time that tkd is shown as a kicking sport is during sparring and demos. using hands is taught and in some styles (like my own) grappling is taught and used often.
heard, it's about 80% kicking, 20% punching, and I did see some grappling, however, for sport reasons it's mainly kicking... but I see where you are coming from, old school MT teaches alot of things the sport doesn't use...

Na I realize that MT in general trains you for fighting better. I take TKD because theres a dojang for it not far from me thats all. The sparring is not a realistic fight scenario with no head contact(at least with lower belts) and no leg kicks. It doesnt suck though, I cant do most of the acrobatic shit cause I weigh 215 lbs, so I spar more like MT guys really.
Trust me when you go to a Dojang that HAS acrobatic shit that your training is better spent on a 45min-1hr drive to a Judo Dojo or MT Gym, (as I do for my Judo.... except being a college student it's a 1hr walk, not drive) You'll be TAUGHT how to MT or Judo, NOT have to figure it out on your own at a TKD school

I beat the wheels off a Traditionaly trained TKD master from Korea in a MMA event. With no former martial arts training, some BJJ and high school wrestling I beat him in 1:36 of the 1st RD. Took him to his back mounted and threw elbows. I caught him in a Kimura and he tapped.
you must do TKD I assume. I would like to see a TKD purist climb to the top of any kickboxing organization (not TKD organization). People who dominate K1, and other international stand-up fighting leagues are usually from MT, sometimes from kyokushin, sometimes from Sanda, never from TKD. The only guy who was any good with TKD in these organizations incorporated so much western boxing/kickboxing that it was more kickboxing than TKD.

Honestly, while I do believe this video shows somehow someone can make TKD work, the huge amounts of experience with the style and many of its first hand practitioners who ended up leaving for styles like BJJ and MT and Judo has TKD as a weaker and less effective art by far. Apparently we have one example of t3h r34l TKD, but the majority don't do that so TKD sucks.

can i just say yes TKD is known for its kicks but as every martial art you still do the traditional stuff TKD (foot fist the way of) I practice many hand tecniques and self defense moves each martial art has good and bad points its up to your trainer to teach the best points most martial artists like myself train in 3 or more forms

Do you know much about taekwondo, ive taken it since i was in kindergarden, and ill tell you, its not all about kicks. There are 3 parts to taekwondo as i see it, the entertainment side, the sport side and the fighting side, the sport isonly allowed kicks, (people think tkd is kicking because of that) then the entertainment, Demonstrations with 540 kicks and everyhting,then the martial art for fighting, you cannot see that until you take taekwondo
TKD practitioners always feel the need to pat themselves on the back. TKD has poor hand positioning and quick left right left kick combinations fit for point sparring. I wouldn't have to go far to show you a TKD master getting tagged in the chin or getting countered while doing their silly leg flurry. Even when elbows and knees are disallowed, TKD purists at the top of a kickboxing organizations are non-existant.

I haven't fought in the ring yet, with full rules... but I know what not to do, and the way I sparr unlike almsot everyone else, I train the way I'd fight.... tkd is not only about kicks. the only time that tkd is shown as a kicking sport is during sparring and demos. using hands is taught and in some styles (like my own) grappling is taught and used often.

heard, it's about 80% kicking, 20% punching, and I did see some grappling, however, for sport reasons it's mainly kicking... but I see where you are coming from, old school MT teaches alot of things the sport doesn't use...

maby a master of kung fu, but a master of TKD wouldnt do that. In the sport of Taekwondo boxing, you can only use kicks, thats why, but in real fights they use hands more than legs. You dont understand Taekwondo fully

All these dumb keyboard warriors, its not the art, its the practitioner. The TKD guy was good, simple. He had in his arsenal a range of fast flying attacks that MT guys generally dont have, he landed one. That was all.

I could make excuses for the MT guy like "THey didn't let him clinch, elbow, knee, etc" but I won't because I don't even know if they did say the other two.
What I will say, is TKD has a reputation for sucking because it is not taught in this manner. It is taught with point sparring and tag you're it, and flippy "I can break boards" shit. This one fight won't suddenly turn the world's TKD McDojangs into Kickboxing Gyms and you have to realise that.

Na I realize that MT in general trains you for fighting better. I take TKD because theres a dojang for it not far from me thats all. The sparring is not a realistic fight scenario with no head contact(at least with lower belts) and no leg kicks. It doesnt suck though, I cant do most of the acrobatic shit cause I weigh 215 lbs, so I spar more like MT guys really.

Trust me when you go to a Dojang that HAS acrobatic shit that your training is better spent on a 45min-1hr drive to a Judo Dojo or MT Gym, (as I do for my Judo.... except being a college student it's a 1hr walk, not drive) You'll be TAUGHT how to MT or Judo, NOT have to figure it out on your own at a TKD school

wrong... they are trained for speed not power, which is why you don't see TKD practitioners at the top of kickboxing or K1 championships, and definately not in MMA.

TKD is cute but not effective in a "Real Fight". Go out side of the relm of TKD and you'll win every time. Put them on their back and they will tap. What major MMA event was aTKD fighter ever won. None!

I beat the wheels off a Traditionaly trained TKD master from Korea in a MMA event. With no former martial arts training, some BJJ and high school wrestling I beat him in 1:36 of the 1st RD. Took him to his back mounted and threw elbows. I caught him in a Kimura and he tapped.

you must do TKD I assume. I would like to see a TKD purist climb to the top of any kickboxing organization (not TKD organization). People who dominate K1, and other international stand-up fighting leagues are usually from MT, sometimes from kyokushin, sometimes from Sanda, never from TKD. The only guy who was any good with TKD in these organizations incorporated so much western boxing/kickboxing that it was more kickboxing than TKD.

I think the mt just wasn't used to bullet kicks and the last turning-long kick was so nice!! too bad they don't have those kinds of tkd fighters in mma. I'v only seen this very slow guy claiming to be a black belt in tkd on ufc.

Honestly, while I do believe this video shows somehow someone can make TKD work, the huge amounts of experience with the style and many of its first hand practitioners who ended up leaving for styles like BJJ and MT and Judo has TKD as a weaker and less effective art by far. Apparently we have one example of t3h r34l TKD, but the majority don't do that so TKD sucks.

i dont think alot of people realise how painful a kick to the face can be if landed well. Plus because they are too different arts they are probably not used to the fighting style and in so not know what to expect unless you were a pro who knew what you were doing

Honestly, TKD may not be the most practical but it really depends on the fighter. Also theres just a big hype over MT right now from the UFC, ong bak and uhhh the protecter i think it's called. Nothing against MT but it's just the latest trend in martial arts right now. For example when bruce lee first made it big i bet everyone wanted to learn JKD

There's a difference between a fad for JKD, BJJ, MT, versus the Kung Fu and TKD craze. The former are heavily dependant (maybe not JKD, no first hand there) on full on sparring versus tag sparring. The argument that it's the fighter not the fighting style is a loaf (yeah, a loaf) of bullshit used by people who claim while their style sucks they personally 0wn God's Balls in t3h st34t or t3h r1ng yet never back it up. A bunch of shit from places like MAP.

You cant take these matches seriously, Korea and Thailand are always trying to prove their art better. Most of these fights are fixed. That MT fighter sucks. tkd has some nice moves but i wouldnt count on it out on the streets, if someone grabbed you, or your down on the floor, what then ? MT over TKD at the end of the day.

If sumone grabed you or downed u on the floor? well then that's where the aspects of the traditional teachings come in,but even before that Tkd practitioners don't use the "olympic" style in the streets they use non flashing..quick to the point Vital shots like other styles out there..TKD uses collar bone strikes with the hand,strikes to the ribs, folcrum strikes, all around the neck, thighs, knee caps, wrist brakes and so on

can i just say yes TKD is known for its kicks but as every martial art you still do the traditional stuff TKD (foot fist the way of) I practice many hand tecniques and self defense moves each martial art has good and bad points its up to your trainer to teach the best points most martial artists like myself train in 3 or more forms

Do you know much about taekwondo, ive taken it since i was in kindergarden, and ill tell you, its not all about kicks. There are 3 parts to taekwondo as i see it, the entertainment side, the sport side and the fighting side, the sport isonly allowed kicks, (people think tkd is kicking because of that) then the entertainment, Demonstrations with 540 kicks and everyhting,then the martial art for fighting, you cannot see that until you take taekwondo

TKD practitioners always feel the need to pat themselves on the back. TKD has poor hand positioning and quick left right left kick combinations fit for point sparring. I wouldn't have to go far to show you a TKD master getting tagged in the chin or getting countered while doing their silly leg flurry. Even when elbows and knees are disallowed, TKD purists at the top of a kickboxing organizations are non-existant.
