Was involved in homeless ministries myself for a number of year. I could have been homeless myself, but fortunately some help came through and I'm stabilized now.
some people do not have a clue. this is hard times, and many people are homeless who were homeowners. I became homeless due to crackhead neighbors burning us out. I am not an adict. I was also disabled when a drunk hit me. I had to move to another state to afford to live, seperated from my children. I did not deserve it. it is hard times. it can happen to anyone.
I used to minister to homeless, after my pastor asked me not to bring them to church anymore - So I went to them. I was homeless at 14, until I joined the Army; Homeless after I got out. I worked from there to success, over a long hard road - Not everyone has a choice where they live (or don't live) - cards don't always turn in your favor. There may be a lot of losers who let drugs and poor choices lead them to the streets - but there are a lot of people like you and me there as well.
Ok I have sympathy for them but when you are an independant Adult Living poor is a choice! Blood Sweat and tears may be what it takes to get to a home. If i was homeless i would somehow find a way to get a house. Most homeless pepole are drugatics, Gang members, or ancholics, or criminals.
It IS very sad.......and your right this could be any of us tomorrow even though TODAY it seems so unlikely. You can get sick and not be able to work, divorce can also cause this with all its financial and mental tear. A family member could become sickl
and require expensive medicines that insurances won't cover and many more. I'm so glad that you did this...I also try to help where I could..Life is so short compared to eternity...Yet some people can never get a break...sad.
Around here, there's a handfull of homeless people- maybe 10. In our town. About 100 will show up to our soup kitchens, or to People's Place and assorted other charities. Yes. I help out those that I know to be really homeless. But I'm sorry when I see my rish neighbors in line, they can bite me. -_-
Indeed... times are tough out there and up here it gets cold in the winters. Shelters get too full... food banks run out and people literally die in the streets. I get angry when I think of the rich who spend so much on themselves and ignore the needs of others. They turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the crys of thier own people. For shame on such prosperous society! There is no shame in seeking a helping hand. It could be anybody.... it could be you. Charity begins at home.... NOW!!!
my house caught fire 14.07.09, ending to lose everything, now im living in a hostel ... help and support its something they dont give u at all. u have to deal with it. different people different education, where is the support to the victims? shall we beg? do they not know we arein need? having nothing to start with? no clothes, no provision, nothing... i didnt got crasy because i have faith, but i was nearly close to it..:( and many likeme are exactly suffering, hoping for a chance... a start...
I've spent the last three months in a homeless shelter with my son. Been out for a little over a month now. It was humbling. It changed my life. Support your shelters, donate your time...you never kbow who you will be helping :-)
Great video and message Paul! Very well presented. We all need to do our part and help others. Not just during the holidays, but everyday. 5 stars*****
Unfortunately Bro, This is why I get fuckin' Pissed with all these fuckin' Celebrities and People with the Money, that go and want to "FEED THE CHILDREN" in other countries, but don't do a damn thing for the children here... Let's take care of Our Children and Families here first and of course if we have enough to spare, then we can help others, let their own Governments take care of them the way they should..and I know what it is to Need and Not ever have... so seeing others with less is worse.
I agree with you. I also get pissed when these people adopt children from other countries while many kids in this country need to get adopted as well.
My family makes food for thier local one too! Many more children are showing up. It is a sign of the times and we have to pull together. Thank you for posting this! People need to be conscious of this happening and do something to help if they can. :)
Yes I just hope those kid's parents can get off drugs and pass a drug test in order to get a job to feed their children. It is horrible that kids have to be at the mercy of their parents in order to eat.
Maybe not ALL the parents are on drugs but I would bet anything that over 70 percent are or have been. I just don't subsribe to the idea that you have hard working people who don't have a criminal record, don't do drugs having to go thorugh the soup line. I just don't buy it Paul.

I know I have a more average chance of becoming homeless because I'm not very bright and the world needs smarter people!
I wish we never built towns and citys instead grew free food for all! a much better life then one for one or one for there family!
p.s I'm not good at spelling my com underlines the spellings on the internet too!

p.s.s when I see homeless people my age I just think like taking em to my home to live like adopting but without the paper work (if its legal)

The softer side of Paul.
Ya, it breaks your heart doesn't it?
My father volunteers at the soup kitchens on Thanksgiving to try and do his part.

Yes, it's hard to watch. It's great that your father volunteers. You should too = )

I am acquainted with a few people who will show up at soup kitchens just for the free food. It's obscene and disgusting to me as well.
