First off, ford motors are junk. Sad but true. There must be some reason 99% of all sand rail in the desert are running chevy V8's. ls1,ls3 or what have you.

you would put a chevy motor in a ford because its cheaper and more powerful. Ls1 and tranny combo goes for around 3 grand, 350hp stock. or you could be a dumbass and go to all the trouble of putting a v8 in a ranger, using a 4.6 or 5.0 and end up at 260hp best case scenario . Ford has been behind in the horsepower game for a very long time.
