It's great to see so many ECML express trains at full speed - a sight unrivaled on any other railway in Britain. Thanks for taking the time to film this excellent video.
Cool videos, but pretty wild job with the camera zoom. Next time I recommend better timing while taking shots, so that you won't need to change the zoom that quickly :-).
I would appreciate it if you sent the comment once, not 7 times! I have deleted the others as they are not really of any use to me as the one is more than sufficient!
I have put this in my sons favs. He is 5 and has autism and has enjoyed a few of the train vids on You Tube, but for some reason this made him giggle a lot!!! Thank you for this, it was the high light of my day!!!
140mph is pretty fast.... I wonder why the English won't take on the French though and make trains like the TGV, to go to places like Manchester from London etc. Sure there is the Eurostar, but that was only designed because to go France and took the English years to make the line fully open at 320km/h. The government in England sound like the government here in Australia, they take years to do something.
It's not just a case of making faster trains. As speed increases so does the pressure wave the train creates as it moves through the air. To avoid disrupting other trains you have to decrease that wave 1 of 2 ways. Make the tracks further apart so there's more space or make the noses on locomotives longer and more streamlined - which then creates issues with what sort of corners they can handle. There's a lot more involved than just putting a faster train on the rails.
Another issue with putting faster trains on the uk rail network is the way the whole network is built, it essentially means that there are really too many corners for higher speed trains to handle. A lot of the network would need replacing at a huge cost.
you can see this with trains like the TGV because they have their own special lines that are as straight as possible.
how cool does the water look spraying off the wires? what is the "plastic" train, I take that is the new fastest train in England? (excpeting the Eurostar)
The Class 91s is joint 2nd for being the fastest train in the UK. Eurostar obviously the fastest, the '91' '390' and '395' having a top speed of 140 mph
Because, this is the south part of the East Coast, Where Virgin don't operate. At the time of filming there was only Hull Trains and GNER operating fast services on the south part of the East Coast.
Just north of New England Junction and south of Werrington Junction all the way through to Stoke Junction that part of track (fast lines) is cleared for a massive 140 MPH, the only track in the UK which is, but yet trains are only limited to 125 for safety reasons. The signals flash green when (if) the trains could reach 140 MPH
Cracking! Shame about the weather, ive had days like these thank god for GNER! By the way, I think the 225's horn is the best on the network HST's is by far the loudest. VALENTA'S RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
doncaster is just ace i live reyt near donny and just love it i saw my first peak and saw loads of 67's and i saw the union of south africa steam loco and 87028 last saturday instead of the two 47's due how cool
Thanks for that, it take a while to do videos up to a particular standard, but its all the fun and joys of a day out which also counts and help towards a good video
do they all get hst's etc also how far away are you from there around lol cause i want to film trains at high speeds especially 125's but i live in shropshire and want to get to didcot parkway lol!

@GoRob The EWS Class 67 is a Thunderbird. Only used when a train fails.

I understand they never actually ran at 140mph.

Oh. I thought they ran at 140mph with flashing green signals, instead of solid green.

The TOC which uses the ECML the most is National Express East Coast. Depending which part you're on, you will see a variety of operators.

UK governments can never see beyone the end of their noses when it comes to infrastructure.
We destroyed a third of our rail network in the 1960s and now bitterly regret it- too late, tossers!
