The splashes crashes and auxiliary hihat are the same in both, but this ride is a meinl byzance extra dry 22 and the hihat is a meinl byzance extra dry 14

I'm pretty sure that's his custom Meinl 'sand' ride. It's an interesting thing to play on. Not my style, but I'd check it out at least once for S&G's.

@Proceed1992 no actually this is the prototype for the sand ride. It still has the name 'byzance extra dry ride' but this cymbal already has some features of the sandride. He explains that in his dvd...well i guess that's the same case here.

@emmerton Well he don't need all those cymbals to play the things he wants. Some just want to have more cymbals on their set-ups 'cause they want to have great variety of different sounds. Simplicity of complexity of drum set-up doesn't tell anything about skills and musicality of a drummer.

Benny wants to express his music through pretty simple kit and some drummers like Terry Bozzio wants to express his musicality through many sounds developed by many cymbals and toms.

@emmerton hes using 8 cymbals here, thats quite a bit. But i know what you mean. My set has 10 minium at all times, but i could do fine with only 3. i just love having lots of stuff

he's got a new setup now i've noticed... including the cowbell right in the middle of his snare and toms. yet he still sounds equally amazing... I'm glad there are still new vids being posted of him - hopefully benny will eventually get the credit he deserves.

i dont know why people gave you any thumbs down for a politely stated opinion. i honestly dont know, to answer your question. he may have certain beats, rhythms and or flavors that are worked out before hand that he interjects into his solos.
