Isn't this illegal? Using a container ship as a missile launch pad would make your civilian ships military targets.

Look at Libya for example. And I think if you have such weapon you are better protected than if you haven't and only think how not to make ships military targets. These weapons will allow the other side to kill your civilians, claiming that you are using civilian assets to launch attacks from. It removes all protection under the Geneva Convention. In short, you are putting your people in harm's way on purpose.

The anti-ballistic missiles are visible military targets. On the other hand, putting missiles in freight containers is disguising as civilian target. You can't tell the difference between a military target and using civilian assets as cover?

Disguising as civilian and engaging in acts of war is illegal under the Geneva Convention. It allows the other side to openly attack your civilians if you hide behind them. Terrorism is a war crime, so don't be an idiot.

Hmm the idea that it is a mini 'second strike' option is about it's only benefit.

Of course if the US or allies believe that missiles are hidden in 40ft containers - then suddenly every container would become a target - I don't know if you'd want that. You also need to target these things at your enemy - and regardless of whether it is hidden in a container or not - you'd need radar to acquire the target - and you can't hide radar - it needs to project signals to work.

Russian air defense systems 'protected' the Syrian reactor that was taken out.

Georgia's equipment was all Russian origin. They lost Su-25s, Mi-24s, An-2!!, L-29s which are ex Warsaw Pact.. See any US equipment there? The Russians lost a Su-27 to an S-75. Since the war Georgia HAS bought some US equipment.. So my point remains - most Russian equipment has been used against Russian equipment. What has a Su-27 ever shot down? Eritrean MiG-29s

I know nothing about that "syrian reactor". During Vietnam War dozens of US warplanes were downed by Soviet-Russian SAMs. In Yugoslavia, even an "invisible" F-117 was downed by an ancient Russian missile.

Nowadays the whole world (except the US and its loyal servants) continues to purchase Russian-made weaponry.

Seems you forgot, that georgian soldiers were armed by US-made assault rifles. You also forgot that Russians seized US Humvees from georgian side.
