I'm sorry but your review is really bad. You say that the only missing thing form the movie is magic? Well, if magic is good dialogue ( no godamn one-liner), respected mythology (Djiin, yeah) , a story that doesn't fall apart and a main character that actually act like a someone from it's time, yeah, the only thing missing is magic.
This has nothing to do with the clash of the titans first of all. Crew cut? Aussie accent? This was a last ditch effort for someone to make a quick buck. Also having the owl in the basket for a 2 second clip? Then Sam crying about it because he never watched the original to the remake he is "acting" in is just awesome. I could find someone off the streets in a day to play a better Perseus.
That was an excellent and 'spot-on' review! The f/x in the original were cheezy; but, at least, they gave you SOME suspension of disbelief and a feeling of tangibility. But these CGI dupes are, to me, the same ol', same ol' copies from LOTR. You were right when you said it laked magic; even Voldemort couldn't save this lack-luster cartoon. I did, however, like the scenes between the Gods and wish they would have had more.

I was sooo devastated when they didn't justify Sam Worthington and Alexa Davalos' chemistry! I was looking forward to the last scene when Perseus saves Andromeda because I thought they'd give them a chance, instead they want him with Io. :( I really, really hope they stick to the Perseus/Andromeda plot in the sequel! C'mon writers! take advantage of their team-up!!!!
I also wondered how another giant scorpion (as if there hadn't been enough) ended up randomly standing in the middle of a square in Argos at the ending. How did it even get in there? The biggest disappointment for me was actually the Gods. Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes... they never fail, it's too bad they had to succeed at cameos. In glittery armor.

It's cool to see that you were so inspired by the 1981 film (which was a pretty good film), but I think the idea behind this movie wasn't to remake the old film as much as to MODERNIZE it. The old Clash was great for its time, but this new one was triggered to appeal to the modern demand for greater special effects, a faster plot, etc.
Haven't seen it yet. I was told Bubo is only in it for like 5 seconds. Someone picks him up and just throws him back down and he's not even alive or something like that. Lame. Bubo was a significant character! They shouldn't try to get all "hip" with a classic like this.

True enough effects and all cannot be compared to the first Clash of the Titans but the 3d animation in this 2010 remake seemed to have taken away the essence of the movie itself. The trailer just fished the audience because of the well-made all action packed trailer and left the re-make watchers disappointed in the end. wow. really? I think I was 10 or so when I watched clash for the first time. on laserdisc. I mean, I thought it was cool. but the only thing I can really remember is the medusa fight scene and the metal owl. not exactly a life altering film. I don't see how people get upset about this film when comparing to the original. the first wasn't a masterpeice. and this one holds up as a solid flick. dont care about the change of love interest either.
I agree with mdelar, I'm a huge fan of the original Clash of titans, in fact was my favorite movie of my childhood. One of the things I hate this remake is the costumes: more "midle age- nordic european - lord of the ring" than truly greek. Why? What's wrong with show greeks like greeks.

Totally disagree. The original was great and all, but it had that old 1980's vibe to it, and the newer 21st century vibe added to an already awesome movie, made it the best movie I'll probably see all year.The new storyline changes were also very well made, and, in my father and I's opinion, way better than the original.
Haven't seen it yet but looks to me like they've dropped a very important character from the original although, he was an entirely fictional addition just for the movie.
I read a few reviews and not one mentioned the character. Seems to me to be a big omission. I'll catch the movie next weekend, see how it stands up to the original which I, like yourself, thought to be a classic.

I agree Manny it did miss some of the "mystic-magic" in developing a full roundness to the new "Clash of the Titans" 2010 remake/the origional had more of a solid foundation. Yet I must say it did have incredialbe visual effects and the acting Cast for all it's worth did put their "all" into their Roles. I especially liked Zeus/Liam NEESEN, Draco/Mads MIKKESLEN (he was magnificent!) and the creepy dark Hades/Ralph FIENNES, a-l-o-t!

@TKmallet No there is no nudity in the film. The scene from the original with Andromeda coming out of the bathtub is not recreated in this version, alas.
I saw the movie last night, and i must say it is somewhat similar to the original, the characters at least. It is definitely a 21 century film depicting more action than substance from the original film. However, the characters are for sure more dynamic than the original and the medusa scenes were fantastic.
I do NOT like Sam Worthington. I can't get over his ridiculous accent in the new Terminator and then being in Avator? Unforgiveable. I don't want to but I might end up seeing this one after easter family brunch lol.

wow. really? I think I was 10 or so when I watched clash for the first time. on laserdisc. I mean, I thought it was cool. but the only thing I can really remember is the medusa fight scene and the metal owl. not exactly a life altering film. I don't see how people get upset about this film when comparing to the original. the first wasn't a masterpeice. and this one holds up as a solid flick. dont care about the change of love interest either.

I agree with mdelar, I'm a huge fan of the original Clash of titans, in fact was my favorite movie of my childhood. One of the things I hate this remake is the costumes: more "midle age- nordic european - lord of the ring" than truly greek. Why? What's wrong with show greeks like greeks.

Totally disagree. The original was great and all, but it had that old 1980's vibe to it, and the newer 21st century vibe added to an already awesome movie, made it the best movie I'll probably see all year.The new storyline changes were also very well made, and, in my father and I's opinion, way better than the original.

Haven't seen it yet but looks to me like they've dropped a very important character from the original although, he was an entirely fictional addition just for the movie.

I read a few reviews and not one mentioned the character. Seems to me to be a big omission. I'll catch the movie next weekend, see how it stands up to the original which I, like yourself, thought to be a classic.

@imperialpod i dont understand why this is a bad movie anytime western lore is represented in hollywood im all for it i dont care about anything but the story and this version was just as close to the actual myth as the first movie (which i also liked) the main point i took from it was perseus would rather struggle as a human than accept divinity and the (easy way out) fine story for hollywood remake? the first version was a remake of a story told to western youths for the last 5000 years lol

I agree Manny it did miss some of the "mystic-magic" in developing a full roundness to the new "Clash of the Titans" 2010 remake/the origional had more of a solid foundation. Yet I must say it did have incredialbe visual effects and the acting Cast for all it's worth did put their "all" into their Roles. I especially liked Zeus/Liam NEESEN, Draco/Mads MIKKESLEN (he was magnificent!) and the creepy dark Hades/Ralph FIENNES, a-l-o-t!

I saw the movie last night, and i must say it is somewhat similar to the original, the characters at least. It is definitely a 21 century film depicting more action than substance from the original film. However, the characters are for sure more dynamic than the original and the medusa scenes were fantastic.

I do NOT like Sam Worthington. I can't get over his ridiculous accent in the new Terminator and then being in Avator? Unforgiveable. I don't want to but I might end up seeing this one after easter family brunch lol.
