  • it doesn't matter if the bridge was marked 13' 7" or 16' 7" the driver is still responsible for making sure it's safe. you've gotta cover your own ass. can't rely on signs all the time

  • Hmmm...too tall. Perhaps I lay her on the side and see if I could slide under?

  • You can easily clear a 13'6 if you know anything about driving. The bridge is measured at the point it becomes "in the air" which it then rises a couple more inches by the time it clears the road. I can cleared 13'6 with at least 2 inches to spare.

  • Why do most drivers forget how high their trucks are and forget how low the bridges are,Get a clue, when your in your truck, you are not in your car,Don't mistake the low hight of a bridge and think you can roll write under it.....or this will happen....

  • @navybeanification the problem is that the sign stated it was a 13ft 7" tall clearance, but it wasn't, so he got stuck. it wasn't a mistake on his part, the DOT messed up, either because of incompetence or because the road had been resurfaced.

  • that was quite a twist. anyone know if the truck was driveable .I would also say that he was riding in the right lane and probably caught the corner of the trailer on the lowering arch of the bridge right at the edge of the curb. one good bump and with an empty trailer you can go from 13'6' 13'9' in a hurry, also you can go off the truck route if you have to make a delivery but it is like going on an overdimensioal permit you are stilll responsible for all damages

  • Ok, it clearly says 13'7"

Not sure what happened. Be interesting to find out though. Somebody sure screwed up!

  • ah now in know what a SuperflexTrailer is:-)

  • some lubricant might help

  • my truck is 13'6"

  • YOUR FUCKING FIERD!!!

  • I just saw another picture and it was clearly 13' 7." Still, if he couldn't get under it, he shouldn't have been anywhere near it. Driver was sited for being off the truck route. The bridge is called the Division bridge.

Per article: People in ... are used to seeing the occasional stuck truck downtown, ... Penrod said on March 4, 2010 at 2:02 PM. 13'-7" arched bridge and a 14' high trailer.

  • @YeagerP51 Bridge sign clealry says 13"7". He has standard height 13"6' trailer, his Volvo has low cab. It doesn't matter that he was off truck route. Sometimes you have to make delivery @ places that are located off truck routes. Although, I must say, that if he has 30 years of experience he would know that bridge was tooooo low to pass under.

  • The sign looks like it says 13 ft to me. DOT is not dumb enough to post the wrong clearance. Trust me. There's too much liability and they would have to admit that they made a mistake. That's not going to happen.

  • @YeagerP51 -> it says 13' 7" freeze the video @ 0:21 seconds

  • @YeagerP51 I was wrong. It says 13'7." Still, DOT will site driver for being off route without permit before they will admit fault.

    DOT Rules

1.) The DOT is always right!

2.) If the DOT is ever wrong, refer to rule number 1.

  • weird spot and all, but the damage wasnt that bad it looked like.

  • i think that bridge was marked wrong. cause that semi looked offly to big for that bridge.

  • @108peterbilt WHAT DOES OFFLY MEANS!?. SERIOUSLY!!!!!.

  • Wow the bridge was marked 13 ft 7 inch... Standard trailer height is 13ft 6inch. He is either driving a high top trailer or the bridge is marked wrong.

  • was the truck still driveable

  • BUFF IT OUT !

  • he didn't get stuck...he was deliverin' a bridge; can't you tell?

  • I used to live there the sign is 13'7" but there is a hump in the road and that makes it 13'3" we were told not to take that route with a truck. And it looks alotlike a 14' trailer to me

  • I think someone changed the sign that says the bridge size as a prank.

  • i guess abdar should be more careful

  • an articulate is average 15.3"

  • IM PRETTY SURE HE DIDNT JUST RUN INTO THAT BRIDGE, IN FACT, I THINK HE WAS DELIVERING THAT BRIDGE AND HE RAN OUT OF FUEL.... HES A JACKASS THO. 13' 7", YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO MAKE IT, BUT THERE WAS A TRAIN ON THE TRACK WHICH MEANS IT WAS PROB NO LONGER 13'7" FURTHERMORE, WHY WOULDNT HE PUT HIS 4 WAYS ON AND CREEP UP TO IT AND CHECK FOR CLEARANCE, OH WAIT, MAYBE HIS TRAINER DIDNT TEACH HIM THAT. EVEN AT 13" 7' YOU CAN HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD UNDER THE BRIDGE AND STILL HIT IT. *BLINDSIDE

  • @usernasc3974

It's the responsibility of every driver to verify their route. That's also a train bridge the driver stuffed his truck into. Fully loaded freight trains can compress their supports up to four inches or more. 13-7 becomes 13-3, etc, Never, never trust posted signs. Never, never trust GPS even "truck specific" ones. Your brain, your phone and your atlas are the main guns in building an effective trip plan

  • we have a similar bridge in Davenport Iowa...warnings are posted all along this route but once in a while, the trucker is watching his tomtom...the tops of the trailers are usually sliced right off...

  • @granskare Go truck eating bride! The city still needs to let Dwyer and Micheals paint teeth on it and set up a camera! If it wasn't right next to the cop shop I would!

  • @notanova huh?

  • @granskare I live in Davenport and I have been witness to several over the past ten years. My all time favorite was the Lowes truck i think it was that drove all the way into Illinois before the cops got him stopped lmao!

  • @notanova that is one I had not heard of :)

  • @usernasc3974 i think it says 13FT

  • Depends on where the brige is on how its marked. Example New York marks the bridges for 1 foot of snow on the ground unless it says bridge hight actual. And yes its always better to piss the cars off rather then close the road

  • 13'7" you would have thought he would have made it under the bridge, unless he had a high cube...

  • @MrsStambaugh could be a 14" high trailer they do have them in a few states

  • Well lets just say 13ft 7 his was alittle high n wham glad bridge was okay.....and not need medical care at scene...

  • sign or no sign drivers responsible .. now all the sudden we read the signs posted... Oh yeah .. the sign is posted what color?

  • DOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

  • he should've cut hard to the right, the grassy knol could've saved him and the truck too.

Yours truly, retired trucker and proud of it!

  • all trucks 13.6 or less

  • @bykashka75 Thats far too easy. In the UK, they vary from 12 foot, right up to 16. Most of the bridges are in imperial, but you always find the metric signed one, when you're not 100% what the height is!

  • Lot of bridges in Spokane where this happens, I remember seeing a trailer stuck under one when our family was stationed here in the 80s. At least 2 so far in the last 3 years. But would never have guessed anyone would try running a semi under THAT bridge! I drive under it nearly every day and it's utterly obviously too low. It would be worse if the potholes under the bridge didn't add a few inches of clearance, but that's another rant ;D

  • Million dollar question, how did the truck make it below the bridge like that lol

  • 13' 7" bridge clearance. i do believe he's not at fault.

  • @wmosco It really isnt his fault most of these trailers are 13'6 I used to drive a truck til I chose to become a diesel mechanic like I went to college for so I could be with my family every night. The problem is the cities that maintain i the roads and bridges when they repave they choose to use a thicker surface but they dont grind down all of the previous roadway so when they are finished the road is about 3 to 5 inchs taller then it was before so the bridge was more like 13'2

  • @wmosco The funny thing is the driver is always at fault. The sad thing is the signs are wrong half the time. I have even stopped my truck to be sure it can go under an overpass first. Learn how to get your CDL TruckLicense . net.

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!!!!

  • all you get out and check the height drivers.you never went under a bridge that looked close but said ok.your full of crap!!....there are bridgies marked higher than this that are way to close for comfort.ain't never drove under a bridge marked OK and your ass puckerd? your a lier.just hope the poor bastard wasn't hurt.get out and look what a joke.you can also tell the driver slowed down(because of the 13'7 sign),or the damage would have been worse.

  • Why didn't he just engage the diff lock and back out?

  • 13' 7", gotta pay attention to those signs.

  • he did not try hard enough

  • there is a bridge in town like this......clearly marked .......but some still hit it!.......so I guess you better know your rig`s height before you even get in it!

  • imagine that poor guy listening to convoy on the radio and then wham!!

  • 5 million bucks says he was a dune coon

  • @104bigTruck 5 million says your a racist

  • @darrenhol Nope actually I'm not. I love all people except I really dont like watching what drives out of the north "canada" Running off rds. Pooping out the bottoms of the sleeper. Dropping urine bombs, speeding, cutting in lines, running in the car pool lanes and running unsafe eqipment. Thats what makes me "sound" racist

  • @104bigTruck First off, i am Canadian, and the pooping out the bunk is a mythe, and is simply not true. I have been driving for 17yrs, and have never seen a truck with a poopin hole in the bunk. And as far as your other claims, i have witnesses all of those things by every race in this industry.

Just so you know, Canadian equipment is just as safe, if not safer, and more advanced then American equipment. Not to mention we have to comply with all American regulation, and safe equipment laws.

  • @darrenhol actually the "poop holes" is true sadly. have seen proof of it. but those drivers are not canadian..not even close to it. they insisst they are "indian". i would have to say the canadian drivers are for the most part better drivers than a lot of the US drivers. we drive on snow and ice 11 months of the year! lol i haul dangerous goods in superbee tankers and most of the south of the border 5 axle van haulers just about shit when they are on the alaska hiway on ice and see us go by!

  • @104bigTruck To single out one race of people, as being all the things you said is ignorant, and the very definition of a racist!

  • @darrenhol True story though. East indian truckers do all of these things on an everyday basis. Not all of them but many do and are giving the trucking industry here in NW Wa. a horrible image. FACTS!

  • @104bigTruck No the pooping out the hole in the bunk story is super old story, was going around when my dad was still driving, and its false!

Truck drivers, being White, Brown, Yellow, give themselves a bad name in general. And to say all the East Indians are coming out of Canada is false too, there are more East Indians, in the state of California, than there is in the entire Country of Canada, check your facts, but then again racist usually don't, they just spew there hate!

  • @darrenhol Falso my ass I have two friends local mechanics who refuse to work on their trucks regularly because of the debri under the truck! Face it there are turds out there and you are prolly one.

  • @104bigTruck Ok, this is how the False story goes. There was an East Indian team truck brought into a Kenworth dealer, and needed work done on the drive line, when the mechanic went under the truck, he found bits of toilet paper, and poop on the drives. He looked up. and saw the hole in the bunk floor, and figured these guys were poopin out the hole. It was a made up story from years ago, and you know when someone is a rookie when they re tell the story as being true. You're a racist! Face it

  • @darrenhol Hey I\m telling you My friend Trevor works at the international dealer! He's seen it first hand!!!! FACT JACK!!!

  • @104bigTruck Oh! I guess, because Trevor said its true, then it must be true!!!Like Trevor means shit to me. Believe what you want, it just shows you're a rookie, who happens to be a racist!

  • @darrenhol Dude I could truck miles around your rookie volvo ass. Million bucks says your a dune coon too and pull the car whenever possible.

  • @104bigTruck If you say so, but i have been around trucks my whole life, and have had my C.D.L. for 17yrs. I have hauled everything from logs, to heavey equipment, and currently haul fuel, pulling super b's! I have over 2 million miles accident free, haven't even had a speeding ticket. And i am blonde blue eyed, and as white has they come! So far all i see from you, is that you like to play with toy trucks! RACIST!!!

  • @darrenhol Well I make more selling my custom toy trucks in a month than you do driving your Volvo. CRACKER

  • @darrenhol If you say so, but i have been around trucks my whole life, and have had my C.D.L. for 17yrs. I have hauled everything from logs, to heavey equipment, and currently haul fuel, pulling super b's! I have over 2 million miles accident free, haven't even had a speeding ticket. • If that bridge is the hieght the sign shows, the truck would have made it, but it seems the trailor was a bit 2 high. But it looks pretty low, he barely fits sideways undr the bridge.

  • @usernasc3974 Well, yes, the truck driver himself is to blame here as well. A driver should know the height of his truck and trailer (in this case his trailer was taller, at 13'6". The bridge was marked at 13'7". Should he have been able to fit? Not necessarily. A driver has to use common sense...not all signs are accurate for one thing, such as the case is here. But he should have been able to estimate the height of that bridge regardless of the sign.

  • @usernasc3974 Now, hypothetically speaking, say a driver has a truck that's 13'6" and the bridge was truly 13'7", could he still fit? Not necessarily. The bridge is measured in several different places from lowest points to the road. But let's say a small bump, or even a pothole has formed. The truck hits this bump just right, and the truck tops the bridge anyway. Happens all the time. In the case of this video, both the driver and whoever's responsible for that bridge are at fault.

  • name on the hood says it all

  • Look at :18. Notice it is NOT a 'regular' flatbed; it is a 'special' one. It is a 'curtainside' trailer, and it has 4 sets of axles on the rear, not the regular 2. Drop axles, too. And ALL trailers are NOT 13'6". This one isn't and is 14', or the height of the span might be in error, too, and sign is wrong. No matter, sometimes you gotta creep up...

  • how did he got stack its 13.7 and all trucks are 13.6

  • Hang on fella - I think you've hit it?

  • Sign says 13'7" he should have fit, not his fault.

  • there ya go good as new,

  • I love how you can see his arm floping around out the window, I think he lost a lot more then his life.

  • @perciville thats not him dumbfuck

  • law suit there 13.7 bridge that truck is 12.5

  • I didn't know a trailer could be that flexible without just crumpling.

  • @BigTruckDrivingJobs That is actually a flatbed with an automatic tarp on it. The tarp slides back and forth its easier than tarping manually.

  • I LIVE IN SPOKANE WASHINGTON

  • I think the bridge must have been miss marked, it was probably 12'7", standard height for a truck is 13'6". The story says he was driving for 30 years, he know how tall his truck was.

  • damm sing say 13.7..cheek out on 0:23..truck must be over 13.6 and driver did KNOW THAT

  • @ROHAN7182 not necessarily, if they resurface that road every couple of years without grinding the old surface off, you'd end up with a lower clearence. it's the city, county, state agency who maintains the road's job to keep the signage correct. which was obviously not done here.

  • Ha. Hey AP if you want to see vehicles hitting low bridges, come to Syracuse NY. happens all the time

  • He wasn't the first driver to hit that bridge. Not going by the marks on it, anyways. Sign did say 13Ft 7in but it looked way lower than that, from some camera angles at least.

  • Rule: when in slightest doubt, DONT! Go around, Find another route. Better to be safe than...well you get the picture. Havin' a bad day.

  • It appears to me that the sign says 13'7". Since that trailer is 13' 6" the city may be at fault. After they got it upright it looks like they missed the measurement by more than a foot. With that said, he should have known that it looked a little too low! I have seen cases where the city has it market at 13'6" and then they put another 6" of asphalt on top and not remeasure and put up a new sign. Chicago is notorious for that.

  • Comment removed

  • driving while black will get ya every time.

  • He forgot he was driving a truck, then realised a second before going in.

    SHITTTTT!

  • i looked and the sign did say 13'7"..it still looked really low. the driver should have looked and even came to a stop and inched under it. i have been in the same situation before and fount i did not have clearance even though sign said i did. cop showed up and when i explained, he said better i piss everyone off while i have to back up than close road for 1/2 day if i got stuck. rule is..if in doubt...make damn sure you fit! dont trust the sign!

  • @calvinhobbescinnamon The sign claerly says 13ft not 13.7

  • @calvinhobbescinnamon Sorry, i saw 13.7 on the 3rd look. My apologize.

  • @calvinhobbescinnamon If the sign is wrong and something ever did happen the county or city that owns the bridge would have to pay.

  • @counterclockwise123 i would rather not hit an overhead object like a bridge or an overpass and then have to try to sue a city, or county for damages. if we are supposed to be 13'6" and sign says i have 1" clearance...i will stop and inch ahead. i came across an old steel frame bridge in NH and made it across, but had to drop airbags on tractor and trailer to do it. cop walked in front of me looking back to make sure i clear. thanked me for stopping like i did. i wouldnt have made it by an inch!

  • @calvinhobbescinnamon That's a good point.

  • @counterclockwise123 not sure what you do for a living, but the advice of "if you are not sure...stop and make sure" works everytime...if you are driving a pickup truck with a trailer, before pulling into a tight lot, make sure you can turn around..stop and walk in, or if the ground looks soft, stop and walk in......i have kept from getting myself into jams many times following this rule.

  • @calvinhobbescinnamon I disgree. I'm not going to stop for every bridge that says 13'7"

  • @DominicMetal1979 and you can "just engage your diff lock and back out!" lol if there is a chance you think you wont make it, slow down, or stop and make sure.....you will look a lot smarter doing that than wedged under a bridge or overpass with a destroyed truck and trailer and your freight all over the ground.

  • FAIL!

  • what a twat he sould not be driving a car never mind a truck what a fucking dick

  • if the driver had 30 years experience he should have known better than going under that bridge

  • arasfaery ur a dumas 99 % of tractor trailers in the us are 13foot6inches as is this one, the sign says 13foot7inches which means its either mismarked orrr the government didnt take in account for the 200 to train setting on top of it causing it to sag

educate yourself b4 you make ne moar comments

  • At 21 seconds you can clearly see the bridge height sign saying it was 13-7... I suggest you dumb asses saying things about the driver need to watch the video. 13-6 is legal height for trucks. I hit a bridge that 2weeks before was a 13-8 bridge...then the TennDOT repaved it without removing the old asphalt...Made the 6 inches higher...My truck became a convertible. Needless to say TennDOT had to buy a new truck and trailer by the time all is said and done.

  • walked away unharmed and unemployed lol

  • is the load still good?

  • n Urkel sez "DID I DO DAT?"

  • driver error...

  • driver didn't look ok, his arm was just swinging like a noodle

  • @playaj25 Thats not his arm thats the set bealt

  • he just needed to go faster and he woulda made it :P and 30 years driving and he couldnt tell just at a glance that, that bridge wasnt 13'7''? there is a 13'11" RR bridge i drive under on speedway blvd in tucson that looks sketchy every time, and this dumb fuck tryed to squeeze under what looks like a 12' clearance.

  • @wtfmanicanthaveaname correct myself its a 13'7'' supposed clearance, that must be a 14' trailer, even 13'7'' is too close for a regular reefer/van.

  • the driver was fine because it was a volvo

  • this is what happens when you dont konw your equipment and dont pay attention to road signs

  • @930alpha shut up u gizzard brain!!!!!!

  • At around 20 seconds it clearly states 13'7" The next time it shows it all you see is 13'. Not many trailers are over 13'6", but that one may be. I went under a bridge in SW chicago area once that said 13'7" and it scraped my trailer from front to back. Made a hell of a noise, but didnt seem to hurt anything. My trailer was 13'6" so that sign was obviously wrong.

  • @DarwinSheriff wow i was off by 6 inches lol

same thing happens where i live lots of sign's before you even get t the bridge but yet they still get stick there lol theres a link on utube for it if i can find it ill send you a link to it

  • that's what happens when you don't look ahead and read your signs

  • Good job it wasn't a gas tanker

  • Watch closely around the 22 seconds in the video at the height sign on the underpass. It looks like 13' 7", which most underpass clearances for trucks are at 13' 6''. The trailer must have been over 13' 6"!

  • I am glad that not Equipment, is ALL I can say

  • Could you imagine driving down the road and all the sudden BAM! The hell was that and look in your mirrors and see your trailer and the truck is toatled I bet the driver was like Shit

  • if that over pass is actually lower than what's posted on that bridge, then he should sue the city of spokane! judgeing by the way that truck is stuck under the over pass that driver was confident he was low enough to fit. 30 years of driving doesn't say "hmmm.. i wonder if i can make it", that driver knew his truck height and knew what he was doing! if the city of spokane did it's job, then he had no reason to doubt the height of that over pass. simple as that, so stop giving that driver greif!

  • lol sign in plain sight 13ft max hight duh

  • @Canadaboy1980 Sign in plain sight 13'7" max height, duh. Trucks must be no taller than 13'6"

  • Damage....has occurred ;-)

  • next stop Knight Transportation. LOL

  • If u pause it at 0:22 you can see the sign on the bridge says 13'7" . This bridge looks much lower than that though....

  • There are many places in the States that have very low bridges, Chicago is famous for them in the trucking world.

  • The man driving this is a military veteran, lots of experience. Yes, he speaks ENGLISH and was sober. There are so MANY non-english speaking drivers out there, they are the ones to be scared of. Yes, he lost his job. It's not fair, life is not fair.

  • Comment removed

  • how do they manage to these things?

  • ahahahhaha I bet the dude shit his fuckin ass out when he hit that hahahahaha

  • How the hell did it get twisted on its side like that??

  • Spokane is known for those !*&% low overpasses. i have had to avoid those when i was there.

as for the driver, ya gotta wonder if he even spoke the english...

  • Can you imagine the driver, Has his head about 3days away and all of a sudden BAM...dead stop, I bet he dropped his joint and spilt his beer. Next time he will know hw has to go faster.

  • poor VOLVO truck, bad driver...

  • the bridge read 13' 7'' and trucks are 13' 6'' BUT w/that train on it the bridge got a little lower.

  • @Steadno Yeah, that was the problem

  • @jerdeb yeah i have drive my semi under that countless times.

  • for sure he got mac donalds stuck in his ass

  • Damn I thought I had a bad day when spilled my drink on my desk.

  • I like how the yellow sign that says how high the bridge is is crumpled on top of the truck. Maybe the driving was thinking "F**k you sign! I'll decide for myself if I can go under this brigde"

  • @fox9ninja

    LMFAO

  • @fox9ninja no, he was thinking "I don't see any cops, lets go for it!" LOL!!!!

  • @fox9ninja the sign reads 13' 7", the semi is 13' 6" so the truck should have had 1 inch of clearence. so the city, county, state authority who maintains that road failed to properly mark the clearence. it had probably once been 13' 7". but when they resurface the road you lose a few inches of clearence because the road surface is built up higher.
