If you lived in western New York during the Talas years, it would be almost impossible not to have ever heard of Billy, Paul and Dave...Talas! They are still the band that all true Western New Yorkers know as being the grandfather of modern day local rock bands from Western New York. There are so many good memories from their songs. Talas...the Buffalo Bills....Buffalo style chicken wings! Wat more could one ask for?
These dudes still Fuckin Rock... Great memories growing up in BFLO, diving my 69 GTO and sneaking into bars under age to see these guys jam and pick up girls... Thanks guys for getting them in the mood!!! Of course, most of the girls that I dated in the 70's said they slept with the members of Talas... I knew that I should have continued with my guitar lessons... LOL
Brings back memories living in the south towns when the Springville Griffins were kickin everyone's arse. Unfortunately those days are LONG gone. They are beyond bad these days.... GO BILLS!
Scary as hell - I am totally blown away by what I find on You Tube
A million THANX for the post
I listened to cassettes up in Michigan that came via detriots underground metal routes - (no web) of Talas in the early 80s
One of my favorite tunes - especially off the 1991 rerelease CD of 1979"s Talas (featuring Billy Sheehan) by Metal Blade Then to find it here - like this !! DVD quality ! FUCK YEAH !!!!!
Saw them many times while attending UB, but the best was at the playboy club - they came through the ceiling in a tea cup to start the show. They played a van halen style cover of CSN's Woodstock which was unbelievable.
I loved this band from the first time I saw them on stage ('had no idea who they were, but they blew headliners VH off the stage - 10/04/80)
What's been a big disappointment is how subdued Billy has made his bass since then. That crisp, palpable, in-your-face tone is muffled and back-burner here. 'Wish he'd just open it up and let it fly like the old days - the idea of a band dominated by bass rather than guitar was revolutionary, but beyond those early Talas gigs he never ran with it.
Wow so many memories, I remember seeing them at the Salty Dog and Uncle Sams and at Stage One on Transit Road. Those were the days. Living in DC now...
Absolutely. I was on security for this show. They are great plus, the crowd responds to them so well. They certainly had the crowd eating out of their hands. No other band could say that that night.
I was there and Billy Sheehan gave me his red wrist Band and my sister has the blue one. they have been in a plastic bag since the show. I am actually in the beginning of this clip, wearing the yellow hat and my sister was the one next to me. the wrist band still smells like him.
Wow these guy's get better with time !!. I Remember rockin' out with my canadian girlfriend julie in the front row at The Stage One to this jam. We would wait all night to hear this song and bang our heads !!!!
Talas should have been HUGE> Just a good rocking band. Great vid. !!!
