  • what album was this song on?? how come I never knew about this??

  • GODDAMNIT TOSHIYA HOLY SHIT.

  • Is this song is about Warsaw? O.o

  • fuck yeah.....I just did a couple of rounds on youtube listening to all the old death metal and crust I used to like when I was younger....and well I kinda cringe at it now. Had to come back to good ol dir en grey to cleanse my ears with proper heavyness

  • I think it could be possible to learn this song's lyrics!!

  • itt qqquasar gets flamed on the internet because of his vast 4 years of metal knowledge.

  • This still is my most favorite song by dir en grey. I know it's cover but doesn't matter.

  • I dont even care what metalcore is or what the stupid narrow minded people that listen to it are when i can listen to awesome artists like dir en grey

  • 4 years of metal, Are you ten or something? Does your mom know you're leaving comments on videos covering a japanese thrash band from 20 years ago?

  • @djspida5 No, but let's say I've moven on and on. By the way, The Stalin is a punk band, not much to do with thrash. By the way... what kind of metal do you listen to? KoRn? SlipKnot? Cradle of Filth? Spineshank?

  • @qqquasar

Are those the only "metal" bands you know of? What happened to your vast knowledge of metal with your whopping 4 years of experience. Look up theplasmarifle.

  • @djspida5 OMGOMG YOU JUST SAID THOSE BANDS ARE METAL LOLOLOLOL You just proved my point.

  • @qqquasar

no, you did. those bands didn't even come to the top of my head.

  • Acid. Insane. Emotional.

  • 酷!!

    >"<

  • @prznt @Twiggyay I have listened to ALL of Dir en grey's discography and... yeah, they are metalcore. There are some vocals, some riffs... they just need some real grinding drums if they're supposed to go in that direction.

  • @qqquasar grinding drums? you don't even know what your talking about mate

  • @KenSansei Oh, yes, I know. Listened to metal for some years, about four, and still nowadays I listen to it when I wanna.

  • @qqquasar > dir en grey

    > metalcore

    > /need/, grinding drums

kill yourself. don't even fucking say words, just go jump off the nearest precipice.

    i am /offended/.

  • @Anarchaism Never said I wasn't gonna offend anyone. Let me guess... you're one of those people who think everything that has harsh vocals could be considered true metal, even if that includes bands like Atreyu or Otep. You might want to state that Deg doesn't need the drumming, but back then, even along the lines of Moonspell and Anathema there is a nice usage of the bass drum compared to this. Go take some classes, and just in case... "Don't feed the troll."

  • @qqquasar I won't argue Anathema or Moonspell! But I'm not going to let Shinya get compared to metalcore drummers. Your opinion is valued, though, because at least your other taste is pretty good. <: I apologize for jumping your shit.

  • @Anarchaism I wonder if that means Shinya is "too good" for metalcore or too lacking. I go for the second one.

  • @qqquasar hahaha gb2 hot topic, tasteless fuck.

Shinya's more talented than anyone you could ever name

  • @Anarchaism I didn't know Shinya was more talented than Yoshiki, Hellhammer, Masayuki Osada, Mike Mangini, Naoki, Bjarne Holm...

  • @qqquasar

how are you able to point out shinyas talent? Or the talent of the other drummers you mentioned?

  • @LiMiTaTiOn7

nah man, he has 4 years of metal knowledge bro. takes years to master all that! especially on youtube

  • @djspida5

yeah man i just forgot that LOL I guess most people arguing about shinyas skills aren't even able to play one single rhythm on drums ;D

  • @qqquasar As much as I like Yoshiki, hes all about speed. Shinya is definitely better than him.

  • @Anarchaism

shinya is actually a very dynamic drummer and fits perfectly to dir en greys music, uroboros was a real drumming master piece!

  • @LiMiTaTiOn7 exactly!

  • Dir en grey doing stuff like this seems to make me think they are trying to seperate from the Jrock japanese wannabe's. They keep getting harsher and darker and more farplaced from what they are. I however love this and I love what they've done with this cover of one of their main inspirations.

  • @blackashsunspot I don't assosicate Dir en grey with this "j-rock" at all, firstly, every band between hell and heaven is Jrock, the girliest pop rock and the bloodiest death metal, as long as they are from Japan.

    how fucking stupid isn't that?

I believe it's time for Dir en grey to be recognized as an international metal band with metalhead fans.

  • @Twiggyay Agreed actually, I wasn't really defending that or complaining - just stating. Honestly I'm very tired of the 'J' crowd and I'm glad to see they just want to be a band without labels. However you still won't catch me listening to them around a crowd of teenage girls... in fear of some 13 year old yelling 'Diru!' and telling me how hot he is without a shirt -_-.

  • @qqquasar Please take a listen to Uroboros from cover to cover.

  • @qqquasar ...dude, just please don't say that you are stuck at MOAB - give Uroboros a few listenings and you will take your words back, otherwise, get out if you don't have any "valid" arguments left.

  • Kyo is the only reason dir en grey have earned a permanent seat of awe in my mind. His vocal ability is just phenomenal. Theres no way in hell I could ever "cover"(in my own ability and range) the vocals in this one. It took me forever to remotely come anywhere near his high screams in Dozin green. Granted that he is up there on his own but still.....those high screams he does in this one are sick.

  • I trip BALLS whenever I listen to this song and I don't even do drugs.

  • When I first heard to this song, Kyo-sama was brutally raping me.

  • 4:15 100% pure nu-metal

  • @KomuriXz I don't hear it.

  • @DoctorCrube realy?

those guitars are something that you would hear in a korn song

infact there's a similar riff in the song lies by Korn, in the bridge

  • @KomuriXz Yeah, for some reason I just couldn't hear it. I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, but it just doesn't come out as a nu-metal sound. Sure, I like Korn, but I don't have all of their albums. I'm missing Life Is Peachy, Issues, and Take a Look In the Mirror.

  • @DoctorCrube ahhh, you're missing some good one's, not take a look in the mirror though, save that one for another day

  • @KomuriXz Do you recall what the song was that featured the similar riff at the four minute and fifteen second mark?

  • @DoctorCrube i think the song was called Lies by Korn, they're similar styles

  • @KomuriXz I see where you're coming from, but it's sort of like saying the main riff featured in the Metallica song "Battery" is a nu-metal riff because System of a Down uses a similar riff in their song entitled "Prison Song."

  • @DoctorCrube I dunno, it sounds nu-metal to me =o

  • Hearing this, makes me go outside and ripp the first coming random fuel truck in half.

  • @obscured01 That would be amazing... but unfortunately it just can't happen. I've seen Dir en grey 6 times so far since they've started touring the states... and while they always put on an amazing show but the audience is terrible. The crowd is mostly annoying weeaboo fangirls ages 14-17 and all they do is scream obnoxiously throughout the entire show. It's really hard to get a stable mosh pit going.

  • 2:47 ho ho ho...ho ho ho~ho~~~~~

    4:21 ha~hahahahahaha~~~~~~

  • i don't think this is black metal lol

  • @JiaShinLee dir en greys sound is pretty one of a kind. they pretty much make a lot of other japanese metal bands sound like shit

  • @JiaShinLee obviously , this is another level

  • @JiaShinLee That's because it's not black metal xD.

  • Comment removed

  • So like.... How does this compare to the conventional Amerian-style metal that we always hear that always seem to sound the same....? No offence to anyone man.

  • 相変わらず良い意味で取っ付きにくい音楽性だな。

  • wow this bass in this song is bad ass

  • This is the voice inside of my head!

  • Comment removed

  • just learnt it on 6 string

    awesome!

  • @Shooterx94 Wha... did you like down-tune the life out of it or what?

  • @MOSHytp G# and the second string C#

The quality is not so good but it works for me

  • the bass line.......jizz in pants

  • Bad-mouthing The Stalin's version does not please Dir en grey. STOP IT!!!

  • @sanchaofgo yeah they played it for a reason. bands dont do a cover of a song because they think it sounds like shit. i swear youtube contracts stupidity like whores and syphilis

  • I'd never heard of "the Stalin" before this and of course, i checked out the original song. my god it's terrible.

Dir en grey Put some quality behind these ridiculously simple riffs.

  • @Twiggyay plus Original song has boring verse parts...

  • 4:30 and onwards is the one of the most remarkable things I have ever heard Shinya play. They truly outdid themselves with this cover. :}

  • @ihatemustard12 so true

  • holy fucking shit. Listen to those low growls :O

  • I lOVE IT

  • Very Cool Cover.

  • Holy fuck, this is the shit!

  • AHHHH MY GOODNESS HOW DOES KYO DO THAT HIGH PITCH PART!!!

Kyo never fails to surprise me...

  • dat bass

  • fucking awesome. Just fucking awesome. This is why they are still around.

  • heavy heavy heavy now I really like them

  • Those sure are a lot a lyrics

  • this is so... mesmerizing

diru always make me fall in with each one of their songs (even if it's not their song actually xD)

  • The rapture of this version out weighs the original such a ridiculous thing to say but it is fucking true. Sweet ness

  • Dir en Grey's interpretation of this song is exactly what a cover should be like. They took a song, and made it their own by playing it like they wrote it versus making a cardboard cut out copy of what the Stalin made. I don't want to hear the same song twice. I want to see Dir en Grey doing what Dir en Grey the best: whatever they're doing, but at the same time, doing this song justice.

  • Comment removed

  • It's not often covers of the original is better but dir en grey rocked the fuck out in this one. Great cover.

  • Why does everybody hate on The Stalin? they were one of the best punk rock bands in the world. Obviously Kyo thought so too, or else they wouldn't be playing this. You all probably don't even understand the music, fucking fangirls.

  • I wish people would stop just blindly praising everything this band does and saying shit like OMG NO ONE CAN COMPARE TO THEM THEY ARE SO MUCH BETTER THAN ANY OTHER BAND AND THEY ARE THEIR OWN GENRE. I love Dir en grey but the fans are just embarrassing.

  • @MsDiplodocus But it's true. O_o

  • @MsDiplodocus Dood, it's how we feel. We love Dir en grey.

Plus it's hard to pick a favourite band. They are my favourite because I don't hate any of their songs.

    That's kind of rare.

  • @MsDiplodocus I sort of agree -> ALL fans* are embarrassing. Like, every musician, artist, w/e has them.. it's inevitable ><

When I say 'fans' I mean those ppl who have srs hormonal imbalances ^^.. Usually called 'fangirls/fanboys'..

  • @MsDiplodocus Agreed completely. I love the band too, but it's impossible to reasonably to discuss/compare the band to 'anything'. I've recently gotten alot of "What's the point in comparisons? THIS IS ART." And variations of it, as though I'm denying the band of their unique representations of the genres they cover, goddamn.

I really hope they attract are more diverse/reasonable fanbase, it's embarassing going to shows to experience their shit (the fans obv.).

  • @MsDiplodocus

I backed out of the fandom because of the fans.

  • @MsDiplodocus Thank god, another person who shares the same thought.

  • @MsDiplodocus name one band that is exactly like them......

  • @xx13aalxx He said he hated that fans called Dir en grey genreless.

They can still be unique while belonging to a genre.

  • @Twiggyay well thats just like , your opinion man...

  • @xx13aalxx Cool story bro.

  • @MsDiplodocus While I agree with you that it's stupid to obsess over one band and refuse to give others a shot just because of that extreme devotion, the sad truth is that there are almost no other metal bands that make music the way Diru does. I still like a TON of other bands but I'll always consider Diru the most impressive of any i have encountered. If you know of any you think are as good/better I'd definitely like to hear them

  • @WhisperThorn Try Tool.

  • @MsDiplodocus Not to naysay, but they really have done a lot of experimenting and sorta invented their own style. They don't stand anywhere in particular because they constantly branch out, there's a reason some of us support the band, the ones who aren't blind. Niimura is one of the most talented singers I've ever witnessed, and his sound is so genuine and unique. Look at Macabre, for example. Easily one of the most distinguishable albums I've ever heard by such a modest band.

  • OMFG, it just kick my fucking ass =O

    Diru fan 4ever

  • This cover makes me want to fuck on the floor and break shit

  • @RemiLeopold you sir, have an odd fetish

  • serious! they made this song amazing! haha the original wasn't even listenable!!!

  • I don't care what anyone else says- I love this song. And Kyo did amazing on the vocals.

  • I don't care if they are influenced by other metal genres, they still sound Dir en grey and better than ever. I cannot believe some fans don't like this song. But I guess the band can't care less about it.

  • Love how the only people unable to grasp their constantly shifting musical directions are people who listen to stereotypical VK shite.

  • @Slushofield old comment is old but I felt the need to elaborate a little. And really it's all very simple well to me anyway. VK bands are "very" controlled by they're management. Some VK bands loose their ability to create music due to restrictions set by their management. DEG for instance does anything & everything they want musically no one has the guts to tell them "no you can't do that" otherwise they get a subtle "fuck you" and still do it anyway. 8P

  • @arsinen21 *their, and *lose. You fucking retard.

  • @DivineApocalypse grammar nazi douche, get the dweeb out you twit.

  • @prznt Don't cry because you're fucking stupid.

  • @DivineApocalypse Douche trying to find partners in crime, huh? No, non-educated sir, I won't join your twat company. =) Good luck with your bastard grammar fixfuck adventures.

  • @prznt Whatever you say, nigger.

  • @DivineApocalypse wow, its so useless to speak with you normally. Get a life, loser.

  • @prznt If it's so useless, stop replying to me, you jew.

  • @DivineApocalypse I might be missing something, but I'm pretty sure you're a terrible person.

  • @XFANSD lol....

  • Just stop bitching. They're good period. If your a real "fan" then you will like their music no matter what. :)

  • They do have those intelligences and symbolism and having that element is a similarity between the two but the three bands are so much different in their ways of approaching and exploring their poetic meaning. It's a really pointless comparison. I get pissed off at the little elitist douche bags who are all, oh they are copying korn, they are copying metallica. FUCK! I heard this one guy say that Dir en grey is Japanese Scorpions! WTF!!!!!?!

  • @1ShockStar Yeah thats just how it works in the music world. You get people with no actual music talent whatsoever. So they sit, and write articles, or comments. Comparing bands, and trying to define what genre a band is. That in itself proves that these people could never be musicians, because they have no real creative mind. Pretty sad.....the world has more important matters. Than defining genre, and comparing bands. Music is an artistic escape, not a technical warehouse of segregation.

  • @MVCasino You said it perfectly.

  • Korn and Dir en grey may have a few similar influences and may have had some influence on each other, especially seeing as they toured together and both like each others music but really they aren't that much a like and they are both coming from completely different places not just geographically but musically. It's like when ppl compare Kyo to Marylin Manson... Just no.

  • @1ShockStar Well considering they both write very intelligent, and dark lyrics. Which is very rare in rock music. To use a perfected symbolism in the way that people like Kyo, and Marilyn Manson do. I think that comparison if had to be made. Is fairly accurate. Though like I mention in my earlier post. There isnt a reason to compare these things, and it serves no point. Each musical artist is his own, and its his art. They do with it what they see fit.

  • I love it when these elitist shits come, & try to compare bands. Seriously who gives a fuck, about the similarities? Pull your thumb out of your ass, & actually do something productive. Stop caring, about what genre things categorize in, & what bands have similar aspects. Music is an art form, take your influences, & transform them. Go talk about "Korn's sound" on a Korn video. Similarities exist because thats how art works. Everything that can be done, has been done. So you evolve upon them.

  • @MVCasino FACT: If you think Dir en grey rips off other bands, you're an elitist.

  • @Marupinku No but, it would prove your an insipid twat with nothing better to do than cry about similarities between other bands. Instead of actually, well I dont know going out, and creating your own music.

  • Dir En Grey is not a genre of its own. They incorporate many different styles and draw influences from bands like KoRn. Uroboros can be described as a mixture of Opeth, Deftones, a good amount of Post-Rock and Mike Patton range of vocals.

  • @Corebyheart Okay...but genre's are usually one or two words. "A mixture of Opeth, Deftones, a good amount of Post-Rock and Mike Patton range of vocals" is not a genre.

  • Four people obviously need to eat the food.

  • The more experimental they get, the more I love it. So unpredictable and so refreshing.

  • Now this is something I've been waiting for. Pure Dir en grey!

  • just Dir en Grey!!! nothing more

  • seared with dissonance

  • What a strong song, that is Dir en Grey power lol

    Uroboros power song ^^

  • 4:20 - I shat bricks

  • WUEEEENNNNNAAAAAA

  • this song isn't that great it's decent. get off dir en grey's balls.

  • doesn't get any better than this. I never was a fan of the low scream until Kyo did them. His are so hardcore and guttural. He's been doing them for such a short while but he is better than anyone at it!

  • I can't wait for Lotus anymore.

I love Diru soo much, their music is more than incedible.

The guitar riffs... Kyos voice, there has never been so much harmony

and this aura is really amazing!

  • Dir en grey does a better job at this than The Stalin... (LOL HERE COME THE FLAMES.)

  • 京さんまた声良くなったな。lotus楽しみです。

  • @obscured01 i label them as: Amazing.

  • I think Us true fans can tell which ones are the real fans.

They always nag abouthow much they hate the new stuff, they continue to listen though. Just to nag.

  • Dir en Grey is the best ! Anything they do, original, tribute, Visual-kei, metal, rock-pop... Its always great !

  • @LordRumpusaurus If dir en grey is gonna make an album with this song's style...geez i can't wait for Lotus...o.o Dir en grey makes much darker music than before...

  • I love it. It is a great tribute song.

  • @obscured01 I think their entire career has been an "experimental stage," haha.

  • If I were to compare this to anything, it'd have to be Monotheist by Celtic Frost. Even that is a stretch though.

  • Oh, this is the tribute song? cool.

  • @AudienceKiller66 Well, It's a cover, but you could say it's a tribute song.

  • @akaiHageshi

Hey, thank you. I don't know why I didn't see that!

  • wow they really made it their own huh? love it

  • *hides comment page*

  • you guys seriously like this cover? it sounds like they're dragging the guitars across the floor. the drums are decent. the intro just set me up for disappointment. and other than that short clean part in the middle this song is pretty much utter shit. i'm not gonna jump on this song's balls like everyone else is doing just because it's dir en grey. so glad this is just a cover.

  • My body wasn't ready... Fantastic cover!

  • Does anyone have the lyrics to this? YES I'M BEING SERIOUS

  • @StriderSubzero i gave up on finding lyrics to anything by the stalin a long time ago. if you find something let me know :P

  • @StriderSubzero Lyrics in the description~

  • they drop this song to -F .very low low low.

  • @toshinya its called lower octave effects.

  • Brilliant motherfuckers.

  • Wow...um I don't know what to think of this song. It's..such a change from even their last single.

It's a cover/tribute song so idk lol But I like it.

    Can't wait for lotus!

  • I think it's hilarious how Dir en grey fans tend to be the biggest shitheads out there. HURR OUR BAND IS SUPERIOR TO BORING KORN LOLOLOL. This is the primary reason as to why I avoid them like the plague. Quit crying, it's hard to deny the fact that they've taken some influence from Korn (See Toshiya in RED SOIL, etc.) Seriously, stop that.

  • @Ruisutsrugi Korn has just as much influence on dir en grey as dir en grey has on them. And yes, i am being serious.

  • @Ruisutsrugi, from your explenation there can be assumed assertion, that no band is really original, and any band have influences from others. Don't be so dumb-headed moron, to think, that e.g. Mozart wasn't genious, because before him there was composers writing kinds of compositions, that he was writing. That's humilitating for musicians, and you're giving testimony about yourself.

  • @Ruisutsrugi i agree alot of fans will say other bands are boring by comparison but not all of us. i love korn and think they are an interesting band.not my fave but damn good. dir is my fave and im not a shit head. you shouldnt label us for liking dir more. but there are plenty of arogant fans who say stuff like what you said. so i in turn say, arogant fans give other music a chance and dont diss just because you dont like a band that aint dir.
