  • @klote2314 then why the hell did the first overclocker keep overclocking if it "killed" his cpu?

  • damn it works thanks for the tutorial

  • I can vouch that anything over 1.5 for this cpu is too much. i recently got a new setup and used my same cpu (the 2.4ghz) and the voltage was at auto, which apparently is the highest it'll go. I was getting temps of 60 just idling and 83 when gaming. I put the voltage down to 1.15 and bumped the cpu to 2.65ghz. I can probably go more but im too lazy right to tweak with everything.

  • How long could you use it? 30seconds?

  • img24.imageshack.us/img24/2331/40ghz.gif that's mine

  • 125% oc would be more than 4 ghz on a q6600 i believe you would have to hit 5.4 ghz for a true 125% oc and even at 1.6 volts a q6600 ain`t doing that maybe nitro maybe LOL

  • More than 1.5V not, never good.

  • can i overclock the q6600 to 3GHZ with stock cooler?

  • @torontoraps8 i would like to know the answer to this as well cause i don't have a stock cooler.... i'm new to this whole pc thing and don't wanna buy new parts since it's so damn expensive but overclocking seems to work fine.

  • My q6600 Runs @ 4Ghz with 1,65Vcore (Known Thats its Not a good Modell)

Vtt 1,56 (1,50 is Standard) nb 1,20 (1,10 is Standard) sb 1,2 (1,10 is Standard)

    Thats a normal overclock result.

If Tweaking the Voltages, i can probatly lower they.

Sry for my Bad english ^^

  • Even if it does shorten life expectancy... why not kick a 3.2-3.6 (standard OC) chip towards the 3.8-4.0 if it'll hang for gaming and wait another intel tick to get better stuff if the existing stuff works?

  • Agreed, this OC could be tweaked for lower voltages to maintain stability... still search the internet for how many 65nm C2Qs have died from voltage/temp. You will find few to none. It's been something like 4 years or more of history. Seen a few 45nms die from very high vtt. These chips have been and still are very robust. Seen lots of 24/7 1.6v and plenty of 'suicide runs' for short periods in the 1.8 +/- .1 range for benchmarking. After years of abuse, C2Qs have proven their durability.

  • Damm fail overclock, to much Vtt, nb and FSB termination voltage. Thats Not a good oc, thats a "how to" to kill your CPU.

    Damm nobish fail overclockers

  • ghz speeds change depending on what your doing. They arent constant. Fear for example, gave me a reading of a 5.5ghz and 240fps in max settings and true 1920x1080HD but its not the same for other video games. My cpu is an AMD Phenom Black 9850b3 quad core, its not brand new and its not overclocked and it hyper threads like non other, so I would say hyperthreading is kinda like a turbo, you only notice its boost when your tires hook the road. Any oc'ing I do to it slows it down...I keep it cool

  • @MrTex1987 hyperthreading is proprietary to intel. you should get your facts checked. oc within limits is a very efficient way of maximizing chip performance, with an oversized cooler there should be no drawbacks in oc'ing. Cheers

  • Vcore 1.6V oh shit... poor CPU :(

  • Simcity 4 music!

  • what a noob LOL...I'm at 3.1 GHz with only 1.23V.....totally stable. Lower than factory setting.

  • @hardstyle905 Not all CPUs can take the same voltage on different clock speeds.

  • hey can anyone help, ive oc'd my q8400 to 3.0ghz and my fsb is at 375mhz, and its perfectly stable ( 6 hrs p95) the only problem is, to get it stable i had to reduce my ram frequency to 375 mhz ddr2, effectively 750 mhz, and the ram is 2x2 gb corsair xms2 dhx rated at 800 mhz. timings are at 5 5 5 15 and if i lower them to 4 4 4 12 it becomes unstable. all i want to know if my stable overlock of 3 ghz on the processor, 1500 mhz on the fsb and slightly lower ram frequency is a good one

  • @shantanu1320 thats only 50Mhz below rated and the increase in cpu speed more than makes up for it nice oc

  • @suggy1005 thanks for the help, much appreciated :)

  • I've gotten 4ghz easily at 1.4 with a Q9400. e4600 stable at 4 with 1.5. The 9400 I didn't like the load temps but that was summer time, loaded up to around 70c. The e4600 hardly broke 60.

This dam phenom 940 can't do 3.8 at 1.5 no matter what I try but I should just go higher, it was basically given to me. Idles in the 30's and full load is around 60 something at 1.55, its been lapped by me and has a coolermaster v8 (crappy I know) as a heatsink. Amd's run cooler.

  • My Q6600 is running at 2.88GHz at 1.26V (stable). The maximum i've reached was 3.6GHz at 1.55V (stable) and i even managed to overclock it at 4GHz but it ran a bit too hot (like 50°C idle and x6 multiplier :P). But i'm sure with a better cooling system it would also break the 4GHz mark.

MY CPU fan is the small Noctua NH U9B (with 2x noctua 90mm fan).

  • Doing an experiment of longevity on a Q6600 as I watch this. Running 1.6v/3.8GHz 24/7 on custom watercooling with load temps at 50c. My chip won't do 4.0GHz, barely makes 3.8 on 1.6v.

Just google Q6600 1.6v 24/7 to see the thread on EOCF.

  • My Bios set doesn't allow me to overclock, so how can I get it to allow me? Someone please help I've got an AsusTEK Benecia motherboard and a American Megatrends Inc. bios set.

  • Damm your crazy.. i think he's cpu died after this

  • with FSB termination over 1.45v you started to ruin your CPU slowly.

  • hey guys...you dont believe how stable this cpu`s can be...i bet its still alive...runinng at 120°c^^

  • you are all fucking noobs and lames ...

overckloking ability is depend of what VID type cpu you have ...

lower vid means better oc abilities ...

  • @fademan You don't have a clue mate, VID is a good indicator but not solid proof that you will get better over-clocks.

klote is at least refraining from name calling, you must be young.

  • @ra2shadow

    i have q 6600 with vid 1.325 .... and i need almost 1.4 v to get 3.0 ghz ...

    so this is clue ...

  • @fademan I have a VID of 1.2625 I dont need to touch my voltage to get 3GHz.

    I need 1.33v for 3.5GHz, I need 1.48v for 4GHz.

I have had A few Q6600's this one is the best I have owned.

My last Q6600 had a VID of 1.225 it needed 1.4v for 3.5GHz

This tells you VID means nothing, It is a good rule of thumb but it is not set in stone that low VID means good overclocking.

My brother is running his Q6600@ 3.4GHz VID 1.3v, all he done was turn up FSB, never touched his voltage.

    VID lol

  • 日本語の解説お願いします。あと、画像をもうちょっとはっきりさせてください。

  • THIS IS NOT COMPATIBLE FORTHE BEGINNERS! LOL ^___^

  • Are you a douche :L

  • q6700 at 3.6ghz with just 1.3225 volts here,rock stable

  • can i overclock my Q6600 with intel motherboard ?

  • @spieletippser

That should be more than sufficient, because you have a newer CPU it will be a little easier to overclock to 3.1ghz

  • Hey bro one wuestion i have a intel core 2 quad Q9550 but its about 2,83 ghz can i overlock it to 3,1 ?? and if ya doe i need better cpu cooler? i do have a cooler master case and a katana scythe cpu cooler ist that ok?

  • way 2 much voltage, shouldnt try more than 1.3v

  • DONT OC LIKE THIS DUDE IT WILL KILL YOUR CPU!!

CPU VOLTAGE AT 1.6 IS TO HIGH AND WILL KILL YOUR CPU!!!

THUMBS UP IF U WANT TO KEEP Q6600 ALIVE!

  • @klote2314 This dude's fucking crazy

  • @klote2314

Im on water, 1.6 in safe as houses, well if your house is made out of wood and the wolves arent coming to get you.

    1.6v is fine with water

  • @ra2shadow wrong even with water

1.6v is to moutch for your cpu it might hold it for a year

but it will start disintegrating way faster even if temps are good

there is just to moutch power going throug the transistors they arent made for it

you shouldent go above 1.5 vcore with these things

  • @klote2314

No, 1.55v is the safe max temp as said by intel. Overclockers take risks, I have run 1.7v on my q6600 before, 1.6 is fine no doubt

  • @ra2shadow no doubt?

1.5 is max 1.6 is NOT fine

again your pc might hold it for a year but 1.5v is max as said by intel!

    1.6 = faster desintegrating

keep in mind every cpu is diffrent some might not even take 1.5vcore

1.7 is just dumb u obviously want to kill ur q6600 fast..

  • @klote2314

Mate im a seasoned overclocker you are a "safe" type guy, I have had a few Q6600's in my time and not all are equal, im not arguing I know what I know.

  • @ra2shadow also why would u need a vcore of 1.7

i can get 4 GHz with a vcore of 1.5!

  • @klote2314

The Q6600 I have right now will do 4GHz @1.48v, want proof just ask

  • @klote2314

Yeah thats true, but who runs 1.6v for 24/7 use, its benchmark voltage.

  • @klote2314 Its 2010 almost 2011 what are the chances it is still alive the video is from 2007 my guess is if he left it at that its dead anyway.

  • @klote2314 1.6 is a little high for the Q6600. BUT being that it is 65nm and Intel recommends nothing higher than 1.5, 1.6 is probably the upper limit for the actual BIOS vcore setting because of VDrop and VDroop. I personally wouldn't do it or even recommend it, because there will probably be some slight degradation once you go above 1.5 - 1.6v.

  • @klote2314 yea 1.6 is crazy high. Right now I've got my q6600 to 3.6 on air and my highest core temp is 46c at 1.43125 i think it is vcore. I plan on lapping later and going to 4.0 just to. and i shouldn't have to go over 1.45 or 1 or 2 above that lol

  • got mine running Q6600 G0

3.4 GHZ with FSB of 1.25v temps around 30 idle and 45 load

im using corsair H50 cooling device

works like a charm for me!!

  • @klote2314 tsk! You can reach for 4GHz with the H50!!!

  • @DeKarle1992 cant with only 800MHz ram

ud need 1066 ram for that

  • @klote2314 go get some :)

  • I quess it works very well with proper cooling, but how much higher can you OC Q6600 with default cooling? my Q6600 stays under 45C with it, but what temp is too high?

  • @Murukku47 I had mine on 3.0 Ghz with stock cooling and my temps were very very high... (77º-78º @ prime95). i bought a CoolerMaster 212+ and then decided OC to 3.6 Ghz.. my temps are 65º @ prime95 and 48º while playing GTA4 and BF:BC2

  • @yosmer333 what's your stepping? If its B3 then your q66 runs a lot hotter than the G0.

  • @yosmer333 you shouldent really go above 60 with this cpu!

  • @klote2314 you have to take in consideration that 65º @ prime95 is not that bad because that software uses the CPU/cache/etc at 100%.

My normals temps when surfing in the net are about 35º-38º and 45º when playing.

  • @yosmer333

its still hot tho you really should try to get it at 60 max even in prime

  • @yosmer333 Wtf are u crazy? when you play you use GPU as well which makes heat in your case, I got a Q6600 and a 480 GTX and on Prime 95, 1.35Vcore and 2.9Ghz in prime 95 full load maxes at 60, when I ran Furmark and Prime 95 (Furmark 100% on Graphics card) the Q6600 went up to 66!

  • @Aspect2010 i guess your case is small or something.... because when using Prime95 your cpu already goes to the limit..

  • haahah you show a video editing the BIOS but pictures on the result, that is really simple to Photoshop.

  • man in the index of experience is at about 4.0 Mhz? w7 64

  • Dont dare to do it. Lol..but nice going.

  • NIce work.!!

  • i can run mine at 3.0 ghz with standard voltage, 3.2 ghz 1.375 v but for 3.4 ghz i have to set a minimum of 1.475 v o_O wtf

  • Ive got my Q6600 running at 3.8GHz on watercooling, temps are pretty hot underload but its not heaps bad.

  • I have a question.. I recently tried overclocking my Q6600 2.4ghz to 3ghz and my CPU temperature (within a program on windows) read a min of 50 degrees c and max of 74.. my room is quite chilled and the weather was quite normal at the time so does this mean I will need a new/additional cooling system? Oh, just to clarify I decided to up it to 2.8 and it works a treat.

  • Your CPU wont last too long

  • @rodrick88122 i had mine running on 3.0GHz 24/7 7 days a week for quite some time eventually the hdd failed but the cpu stayed alive :D

  • yeah you can run at lower timings with higher volts, or high frequency with a little more volts.

if you want low volts you need low timings and frequency than rated speed but you wont be pushing your ram that much at all. if you dont wanna stay in spec id prefer low timings yea

  • Gettin' some stabilitissues about 3,5 ghz on a G0. Goin' to lap the CPU soon and go for 3,6 with some more voltage. Is about 1,4 atm.

  • I can't get my Q6600 to be stable @ 3ghz on anything under 1.4volts... do I have a bad one or what?

  • @CPL337 mines like that too, ur chips fine it might run a bit hot tho lol

  • @CPL337 cpu might be getting old and needing more power, or the vdroop is rly high (using 1.4 in bios but ending up with 1.35 in windows idle)

  • sick

  • lol shit 1.6v how does computer not blow up

    must need some intense fans

  • what was the room temperature on this video

  • I got 4gb ram whit (AUTO) Frequentie

dd2 if i try to increase it to 800MHZ he crashes :S some 1 have an idea to fix this?

  • @crazymotherfacker

Don't know if this helps but when it comes to memory the lower the timings the higher the volts, and lower timings are key.. so with this in mind when you do a memory over clock the memory should be tested using something other than booting the PC and booting windows. I would read more into overclocking and find some free mem test tools as well, like ultimate boot cd if I were you.

  • Gosh, I've a Q6600 B3 and runs smoothly at 3 GHz with 1,275 V.

Strange that it crashed at 2,88 GHz with 1,265 V.

Anyway I believe that the voltages used in this video are too high.

  • VCore = 1.2625V is enough for 3GHz, 100% stable, maybe even lower VCore will work (I haven't tested that).

  • On 333x9 =>3GHz it needs 1,3V for me. With 1,265V it crashed after 2,88GHz and didnt want to boot with 3GHz.

  • everthing above 1.5000volt on the cpu is way to much

keep it around 1,35v/1,37 volt or you gonna fry it no matter what others say

  • does this make your computer faster

  • yes

  • lol

  • @superthorn96 well..on normal tasks you notice any difference, but you will when it comes to games and rendering!

  • wtf? Vcore at 1.35 just for 3GHz?

thats poor dude i can run my CPU at 3.4 GHz with just a Vcore of 1.3

seriously your putting to moutch power into your cpu!

  • is that the highest youve gone? what cooler are you using?

  • no i can do 3.6 GHz but its not stable im using Corsair H50

not the best water cooler but better then any air cooler

  • @klote2314

i actully did 3.6ghz today with coolermaster v8 cooler but got a blue screen tho. i have no idea wat happen i think it over heated

  • @klote2314 lol im at the same voltage, what CPU do you have? I have the AMD Phenom ii X4 965 BE

  • @Drcrazypants23 Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 @ 3.4GHz

  • @klote2314 ahh pl, i have mine running at 3.8Ghz. is there really a limit as to how high your Q6600 can go? other then because of temp limits

  • @klote2314

    lame

  • @klote2314

This CPU has low VID value, even two C2quad 6600 can have different VID.

VID is the value which defines how much voltage you need to operate at it stock clocks. The lower VID , the higher overclockable potential you CPU has.

    For Ex. Core2Quad 6600 G0 65nm has maxVcore-1,55v and it has VID 1,325v

    Overcklock Potential -O.P

    O.P,=maxVcore -(minus) VID.

    1,55v - 1,325v =0,235v you have in your reserv to overclock it/

  • @klote2314 He may have a B3?

  • @klote2314 He may not be using load line either.

  • I'm running a E8400 Core 2 Duo @ 4.05GHz on air cooling, this isn't amazing, it's actually really easy to get to :D

  • It's easy with a core 2 duo yes, not so much with a q6600.

  • Duuude, respect man thats all i can say. I have a q6600 @ 3.45ghz, my aim is ~ 3.6 . This has given me inspiration!.

  • i keep my q6600 at 3.6 watercooled but voltage is 1.54V, probably i have bad chip.

just get good aircooler and u would be fine

  • your cpu degrading even if you have nice temps that cpu cant handle all those power flows going throug there

try to atleast get 1.5 Vcore

  • LOL, my cousin did that sheet... he ruined his quad core... LOL, imbecil...

  • if i had quad id never OC it

  • @RavenholmHunter thats why you fail at life

  • Comment removed

  • @RavenholmHunter whats a birch ?

  • bahhh fixed it anyway..ahaha

  • Oh jesus ...

  • OMG i think i broke mine !!! can anyone help!???I followed the simple step to overclock to 3.0GHZ and now my PC wont even Boot ! im using ASUS p51 Series , Intel Core 2 Quad at 2.3 GHZ...anyone help ASAP please??

  • didnt you read the certain risk warning at the begining of the video you stupid dumper.

  • There is a battery in your mainboard put it out wait 10 seconds and put it in the mainboard it should start

  • does the screen flash or do get some beep code?

  • reset bios.

  • sweet

  • what is CPU PLL Voltage?

  • Comment removed

  • voltage going through the pll crystal to maintain bus frequency.

  • the sht?

    I ran 3dmarks at 4050mhz

    cpuv 1.50v

    cpu vtt 1.30v

There's no need for high VTT or high cpu voltage for 4ghz...

  • I have MSI P35 Platinum with Q6600 2.4GHz and 1066MHz of 4GB DDR2. Can anyone advise whether i can still OC my CPU since my RAM already at 1066MHz(default)?

  • lol, stupid school american boys))) 4 cores doesn't mean 4 processors, and the frequency is 4ghz for all the processor. cores don't have frequency./

  • Fail. Its 4gHz for each core. You can even see that if you open up Task Manager

  • Im not an expert, however...

    I was wondering:

Does that mean that you have 4x4.00 GHz = a total of 12 GHz?

    Or does that mean that you have 4GHz diveded by 4 CPU's (i. e. 4.00 GHz/4) = 3GHz per CPU?

Plz tell me! Thank you very much in advance!

  • The Cpu have 2 cores (Core 2) who each is working like 2 logical cores, therefore 4 cores as the name QUAD means.

So yes i believe that it is 4 x 4.00 Ghz, but im not 100% sure

  • Whoops!! 4x4 = 16 not 12...*embarresed* xD lol my bad...I must say that I am not good in maths, I have a 'F' in maths...lol :D

Anyways, thank you for your answer!

  • LOL, wow, just wow.

You just managed to embarrass yourself in front of dozens of people.

  • my pentium d 3GHz is running at 3.85GHz

  • that good =)

  • does overclocking ur pc make it faster?

  • no it makes slower and evuentally it will die and explode in ur face

  • anyone know what a safe 24/7 overclock would be on this cpu? ive been running at 3.0ghz on stock volts for a while but was just wondering if upping the volts and clock higher would harm the processor if set for a long period of time

  • Of course it would... At most only overclock only around 50% more... only if you have a huge aircon with no casing on your computer and with liquid nitrogen you could try overclocking to around 150% more.. my friend got pentium 4 from 1.6ghz to 4.2ghz O_O using that method

  • mir reicht mein q6600 @ 2,4 ghz vollkommen ;)

  • how much watt on 3.8ghz?

    how much degrees on 3.8ghz?

    energy monster...

  • Not just the Vcore is insane, the PLL circuitry will be dead in a couple of days under those voltages.

If you are new to overclocking: this guy is doing it wrong.

  • Yeh, 1.6 Volts in the Vcore? I mean c'mon, its a G0 stepping processor, he doesn't need THAT many volts. XD

  • So, if I would do a 50% overclock, the CPU would runt at 3.6 GHz after the overclock.

  • Correct

  • How can 4 GHz be a 167% overclock?

100% overclock would be like 4.8 GHz

  • 100%=2.4ghz

    67% of 2.4=1.608ghz

    2.4ghz+1.608ghz=4.008 or 167%

  • So it's a 67% overclock then.

A 100% overclock is the default speed plus the default speed.

  • because 2.4ghz = 100% thats how theyv worked it out

  • its a 67% OVERCLOCK,

but its running at 167% of its power. Has to do with the wording,

the word overclock assumes going over 100%..... learn a combination of english and math please. lol

  • BGMはなんですか??

  • this is a good overclock, but I hit 4.25Ghz on my p5k-e and q6600.

    Good vid

  • Hi there... I'm building a new comp soon but don't wan't to pay the high price for core i5 or i7... I already got a Q6600 G0 but do you guys think that a Corsair H50, which has been tested to be better than TRUE, can OC mine to 4 Ghz?? Using the ASUS Maximus II Gene and Corsair DHX 2x2GB PC2-6400 CL5 or 4, don't recall... replacing theme with OCZ Blade 2x2GB PC2-9600 CL5 later on... if any of this helps :)

  • I've got a Q6600 G0 with a 1.3250 VID. I got it 24 hours stable at 3.2ghz with 1.35 vCore. Then I got it to 3.4ghz 24h stable at 1.406 vCore. Lastly, I tried a bunch of suicide runs just for fun and achieved 3.8ghz at 1.55 vCore to run some benchies.

  • mine is also at 3.6ghz 1.5V i dont worry about high voltage because i m using a decent water cooler.max load temp is never above 60 c.i have used this setting since last year and never have problem

  • above 50c is bad.... 60 is terrible.

  • any thing upto 70 degrees is ok

one of my mates built his own pc thinkn he is a genius and he didnt put his cooler own correctly they were push pins only one push pin was in correctly and when i checked it none of the thermal paste was making contact with the cpu. he ran it like that for 6 months when i checked it, it showed 83 degrees in bios so imagine under load

  • i should comment that overheat wont damage the processor, i ve managed to boot into windows and run AI suite (asus temp prog.) on 3.2 ghz and 1.41 V on air and i was suprised when it read 101 celsius. when i was new in oc i thought i d get better readings of the temp if i put a temp probe between heatsink and cpu (learned later it was causing high temps and was dangerous) luckily my mobo would cut the power at 102 celsius (more than once).

overheat wont kill the processor but overvoltage will.

  • This way to much. Well it will shorten the lifespan for ALOT gl buying a new cpu tomorow lol. It is enough if you clock to 3.0ghz that's the way i have it

  • i wish that my pc had a bigger psu :(

  • I have mine at 3.6GHz and 1.35V core. temps at room temp are ~37 C at idle and under full load hit 52 C max

  • wow nice. I have mine @ 3.6ghz at 1.47V core. Max temp during intel burn is 85 C

  • A lot of people can go this high but theres not even much point. I keep mine at 3ghz because the higher the voltage, the lower the life of your processor

  • that's that true. I've been overclocking since 1995 and I've never had a processor go up. Life time is a bullshit statement.

  • Hi i want to overlock my CPU it q6600 do i need to add 1 more fan or buy a better cpu fan i have just 13 dollar fan thanks

  • I have the same setup other than DDR 2 800, these settings work a treat :)

    Thanks for sharing!!!!

  • im going to try ur setting m8t ,.....

  • 4*4=16..... wow that is big

  • mmmm... 3.5Ghz@1.35vcore is perfect!! more is... agressive?? :P

nice 4Ghz Quad core @.@ overclock

  • Comment removed

  • A, thats pretty sweet, i just reached 4.0Ghz with a Vcore at 1.65 and dram at 1.87. But had to clock down because at prime 95 core 0 and 1 reached up to 90 degrees centigrade :D
