  • Macbook Pro 2ghz Core Duo, have noticed real performance issues with audio playback compared to version 5

  • is this program going to be hard for people who dont know anything about guitar and just want to make some tunes for just a fun hobby and making songs of my own because i i kinda got the idea of the program but its hrad because i dont know anything of what your talking out taps and blaah blaah

  • @jumjumori It's pretty accessible I think. You should try the free demo on their website to get a better idea. :-)

  • There is a bug in Guitar Pro 6. If you have an anacrusis (pick up bar) the countdown doesn't work correctly.

  • awesome review buddy, I found it extremely helpful and informative.

I was wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to 6, and to me it looks like its definitely worth it.

  • How do i download tabs onto guitar pro 6?

  • @MrDjSlamminSammy You download them to your computer then open them in Guitar Pro

  • mac's rule..

  • Click, on CC and Transcribe Audio. Some of it is so funny.

  • Would you be able to send me this program?

  • @azzuri229 No, but you should try the free demo! :-)

  • Vejam meu video do guitar pro 6!

  • everytime i try to open guitar tab.. it closes automatically... do u have any idea. of whats wrong with it??

  • @namtaaan You should post a message on their technical help desk. :-) They are on GetSatisfaction.

  • @namtaaan i have the same exact issue idk what to do

  • Good stuff, a couple of questions please. I don't know how to play a guitar but I have a midi keyboard controller. Can I use that and enter notes on the bars in real time? Do I need a guitar to use GP6?

    Thanks for posting your vid.

  • @ej1mshan Thanks!

You can't enter music in real time. I think this is really mostly for guitar players, used as a notation software. If you want to sequence stuff, you might want to look at sequencers...

  • @Wallimann

    Thanks for the fast reply.

  • Since I've got a lot of guitar pro 5 tabs, I'm would like to know if I can open them in guitar pro 6? Also, since I'm a piano player, and I use guitar pro for composing songs for my band, I hate the fact that I can't write some things witch a guitar can't play but a piano can. Example; notes E and G witch are on the 6th string can't be played on a guitar simultaniously, but I can play them on the piano and I need them. I want them, but gp won't let me write them! Has the problem been solved? Thx

  • @666Extremist Yeah, you can do all those things...

  • In adding a new bar. How do i add a new bar to the right? When i insert a bar, it inserts in the left

  • @superjokerrr Why don't you just do it that way? Place the cursor on the bar to the right and add a bar to the left? :-D

  • Thank you for the help. BTW is it possible to un-grey the multi tracks? It makes it a bit difficult to read the tab. (I've search the manual but can't find anything). Also the piece I want to add starts on the third beat of the first measure. I could add three rests, but this section repeats, so it sound awkward (with the three beat rests). Again I've searched the manual, but couldn't find anything.

  • @Henjo29 There is a multivoice view next to the voice selection.

You might be able to use the anacrusis function that allows you to start the song with a non 4/4 bar.

You should check out getsatisfaction.guitar-pro(dot)com where you will find a lot of support and tips for Guitar Pro... :-)

  • @Wallimann Thank you for answering my questions, and for the link.:)

  • Hello, is it possible to write guitar score with different rhythms top and bottom, like finger picking style? Often there is a melody, with and walking base in finger picking style on the same staff. I just can't figure out how to do this. I would appreciate any help you could give.

  • @Henjo29 Yeah, you need to use the different voice tools. Each track come with 4 voices, look at the help menu and search for voice. :-)

  • 2 part question: Does this have live capture via MIDI instruments? And, if so, could one do live capture with a guitar synth?

  • @skovol007 It does live midi capture (including midi guitar).. Well, kind of. It won't record the rhythm you play. Only the pitch. The rhythm needs to be set manually for each notes..

  • @Wallimann Thanks. That will still save a ton of time!

  • is there a way to copy and paste pdf sheet music into guitar pro 6?

  • @GrEEnXThirTEENs No, pdf format is much like an image format. GP6 can't translate what the pdf shows to tabs...

  • Good review. I agree with everything you said. GP6 has a way better interface.

  • If you live in the seattle area, can i get lessons from You?

  • @Drewitall54 Sadly I live in Colorado... :-/

I stopped doing one on one lessons though, I only teach online though. My lessons are on guitarplayback(dot)com and you can catch me live on jamplay(dot)com

  • hellow did you buy it ?where can i find free tabs?

  • @anatol1204 There are a few here and there online... Try Ultimate-Guitar. :-)

  • Hey.. thanks for the review. I just download and install this cool software. Really excited to start working on it. If you have money.. no doubt , its will worth every penny. If not, you can found it free somewhere.. but beware, there is a lot of virus out there.

  • You look a lot like Brazilian actor Antonio Calloni (search on Google Images).

  • @RodrigoCFD Hehe! I don't know if I should thank you or not for that. Haha! :-D

  • can you turn off the tab?

  • @trigmachine Yeah, you can.

  • @Wallimann cheers. just ordered it !

  • What I can't figure out is why I can get Guitar Pro 6 from the official website for $59 and from a ton of reseller websites for $49. I can't tell the difference.

  • @Zombie326 I was wandering the same thing. Then with a little googling I found coupon code FONTGP62010 which you can enter when purchasing from their website which gets you 20% off. Then you can download it and don't have to wait for it to arrive in the mail like you do when purchasing from resellers.

  • I did kinda like the teaching mode....that was kinda cool i'll admit

  • I downloaded it. been playin with it....sounds to fake for me. ONLY my opinion..

  • @smooretogo Yeah, I wouldn't use this to create real backing tracks. I agree...

  • i compose prog metal but cant read or write notations time signatures and what not. is there a program that exists for me? lol

  • @TheJeffum Probably learn a bit about it first? It;s not too complex, maybe I'll shoot a video on that subject...

  • @Wallimann awesome

  • I read ALL the comments and watched the video(nice job btw).....BUT, I cant figure out what this program is actually used for. Just to edit songs? Using just their sheet music? Does it record live....? Can I create,,,, using my own inputs/guitar/keyboard???? thats what i'd like.....Or is it just a learning tool alone??? ..confused.

    Anybody!

    tx

  • @smooretogo It basically allows you to create nice looking tablatures. It's a notation software.

  • Can he not phyically face the camera?

  • @TheRecordLounge Not unless you want to see two bright luminous reflections in my glasses. :-D

  • @Wallimann What if I do? I'm in to that :P

  • @TheRecordLounge Haha! :-)

  • can i record myself with that ? ..

  • @AXfo7 Unfortunately no...

  • can I plug my guitar in, play and have it tab what I'm playing?

  • @guitrshrder No, you can't.. It's more of a writing tool...

  • your using mac lol

  • @theredrobo94 Yeah, I made the switch about 2 years ago..

  • Thanks a lot for the review.

I couldnt help but notice your accent. Are a frenchie in Fort Collins?

    I am a frenchie in Denver (:

  • @deanx0r Oh really???? Oui! Je suis bien Français, d'Aix-en-Provence. Je susi aussi à Fort Collins. Tu es d'ou toi?

  • how do you add measures? I am trying out the demo and I can only create one measure

  • @bodlewadle "Bar" menu -> "Insert Bar"

  • i heard the biggest problem is the HUGE database of GP5 files wont run - basically they all have to be collected (not to mention written) again - who is gonna bother doing that knowing they will just upgrade to GP7 in 2 more years and it will just keep happening. They should have made old files compatible - like Windows you dont have to redo all ur work with each new OS upgrade.

  • @BiggerThinking1 You can import GP5 files in GP6. Never had a problem. :-)

  • @BiggerThinking1 It's true, I've had guitar pro 5 for almost 3 years and I loved it but when I upgraded to guitar pro 6 my old tabs would not play properly. All of the bends, palm mutes, and the mix tables(thats the important one) would not exist in the tab. Writing tabs itself harder like the drums, theres no number system for it. Instead I have to click what I want to write AND I have to turn the computer sidways since it's written on its side. I would just stick with GP5.

  • @TrueDragonForceFan10 LOLLLLL it works perfectly when you use gp5 songs

  • @MrKoki1996 Not for me because every time I put ANY Guitar Pro file type on it it comes out wrong and in the end just sounds wierd. I just wish I had my guitar pro 5 back.

  • @TrueDragonForceFan10 thats your computer problem,i can play any Guitar pro file eaven oldest once

  • @MrKoki1996 You may be right and you may not be right but all i'm saying is it dosn't work that well for me.

  • Does anybody have any idea how to add a 2nd or 3rd verse of lyrics (Guitar Pro 6) to a composition? Adding the first verse is no problem but I have found no work-around for adding additional lyrics... Looking for any suggestions.

  • @odenlaura In the lyrics panel, there are 4 tabs you can click on to switch between 4 potential verses...

  • Does anybody have any idea how to add a 2nd or 3rd verse of lyrics (Guitar Pro 6) to a composition? Adding the first verse is no problem but I have found no work-around for adding additional lyrics... Looking for any suggestions.

  • can i get guitar pro 5 still????

  • @markers123 I don;t think so... :-/

  • @markers123 theres always illegal downloading!

  • @Chewbacca121314 free downloading please

  • GP6 donkey balls. The work flow is slower, the view is bad, the ergonomy sucks major ballls.

  • I really liked GP5, and then decided to upgrade to GP6. I like the GP6 interface, and it sounds better than GP5, but the software is written horribly... Especially for MAC. My GP6 crashes at least once daily, and there are pop-ups for sending a report to Arobas (Which automatically crashes on my MAC), and a pop-up for restoring a backup.... Which leads me to this question. Why is there a pop-up for restoring backups with a tabbed interface? Just my two-cents.

  • @L2112Lif Weird...

I never had any problems on Mac. I hated GP5 on Mac, but GP6 works great here.

You should get in touch with them. They might help. :-)

  • @Wallimann I did, and I can't get into my account with them even though my information is saved on their site. I have a feeling its the mac, not Arobas on that one. Still quite annoying, I had done an hours worth of work... Just to have GP crash unexpectedly. -_-

  • Salut, do you speak French ? :D

  • @thephiber Salut! Oui, je suis Français. :-)

  • Salut!

  • I just made the upgrade on my PC, and i have a few questions.

    1. Where is the mixer table? I want to change the guitar sounds in different parts (verse, chorus, etc), Mixer table is f10 in Gp5, now it's some sort of automation blahooley.

    2. Can i change to having just tabulature, on all the tracks for all projects, or do i have to manually change it on 4-5 tracks every time i start the program?

  • @7thhh

    - the mixer is not replaced by effect variations and automation.

    - you can change the type of notation individually only.

  • I'm mainly getting this to read pro tabs on ultimate-guitar is it worth it?

  • @CombatArmsNerd Yeah, for sure!

  • @CombatArmsNerd - Answer would be yes, I use Ultimate Guitar frequently and much rather look at the Guitar Pro files than those that are not. The loop trainer helps with difficult sections unlike the capabilities of a word doc or note pad. I have found it for $50 bucks on the guitar center website. A better deal than ordering from the GP website itself.

  • Guitar Pro 5 is the best.. because you can play and follow the notes/Tabs in the Fretboard...

  • @abrarockers You can in GP6 too. :-)

  • @Wallimann Is there a way to zoom the fretboard? (In GP5..). It's pretty small..

  • @Discmatic1 Not sure, I haven't used GP5 much for a long time... :-/

  • its really a good review thanks alot I've been working on g-pro for 5 years and I'm thrilled to use gpro 6

  • not bad man ,,,i got guitare pro 5.....it diffinitivement ,,,,way better ,good show thanks

  • I'm trying to learn the dobro, could I use this software to help me understand music better and does it have a selection for dobro, with regards to play back, another words.... sounding like one. Thanks

  • @FishyMcNuggets Unfortunately GP doesn't come with a Dobro sound. It's really originally a tab editor, so it won't teach you how to play.

  • THANKS, for the vid.

But does the RSE Pack really sound like the real instruments?

  • @redbonnet2011 No, it doesn't sound exactly like the real thing. But it's better than most midi sounds from your internal soundcard. You should download the demo and give it a try. :-)

  • Hey, may be a dumb question but the fade out/fade in tool only seems to work for guitar parts. Is there any way i can get this to work for synth sections e.t.c? Cheers!

  • Hello sir. Thank you for your nice and informative videos. I was wondering if it is possible to use the program to make sheets (without the tab). If you have to put a musical example in a word-file, is it possible to insert one from that program?

    Thank you:-)

  • @vandgrus Yeah, I believe you can. You should try the demo!

  • @Wallimann Will do.

    Thank you

  • my band plays a fullstep down but i wanna keep my new bass in standerd. is their a way to transpose the songs that im learing for the band and still use my standerd bass? i saw a tuning button but it dident change the tabs it just changed the sound...thanks

  • @vaderraider666 Yeah, no problem. :-)

  • Hey! You're that guy from jamplay :D

  • @TheToxicVoid Hehe! Yeah.

  • Comment removed

  • @blackestcry If you want, yeah.

You can set the views you want in the options. :-)

  • I've played guitar for some years now, and I'm considdering this product. Should I get it, will it help me? Thanks. Great vid :)

  • @MrNorthernWingz Thanks for watching this!

If you are looking for a software to help you tab stuff and learn licks from tabs that have been created by other users it's great.

However, if you are looking for something to just learn, I would consider something else (like my lessons for example... lol!)

What are you looking for in GP6 exactly?

Also, you can get a free demo on their site. :-)

  • The loop thing was in GP5 too. Installing GP6 atm, I'm curious about GP6 and a bit anxious.

  • All the possibilites of sounds and quality are definitly and improvement from guitar pro 5. But the problem is the drums? Composing was so much easier and better in guitar pro 5? Am I the only one thinking that..

  • @EnokiSkai Yeah man, everyone thinks that too including me. :-D

  • Nice shirt man! ;)

  • @Toca91 Thanks :-D

  • yes. love music and want to explore electric quitar.

  • @q2q3rr Use the code F190918FE6 at jamplay dot com / card

You'll get a free week pass, no obligation.

I have a few beginner lessons on there. :-)

  • Is there software for a beginner as a teacher is many miles away from where I live.

  • @q2q3rr There are quite a few, but never tried them.

    Are you an absolute beginner?

  • If you have never played guitar, would this be worthwhile to purchase to learn how to play electic guitar

  • @q2q3rr I wouldn't really consider GP6 as a learning tool.

It is useful to learn licks and such, but for a complete beginner, nothing beats a real one on one lesson to get you started. :-)

  • just got this for xmas, its awesome! Been on it for a few hours and written about 10 minutes worth of music :D

  • @domclarke92 Awesome!

  • Can I make bass tabs with it too?

  • @VonCarnstein Yeah!

  • I herd that you can use a guitar tuner on the program and if you have a mic you can tune with it?

do you know how to do this?

  • @FenderStratocaster06 Yeah, there is a digital tuner included. It's found in the tools menu. :-)

  • @Wallimann Thanks!

  • If you would have spent all you intelligence and creativity onto another subject than music – well, you´d probably be a rich man. But we can`t change our priorities... Or should we?

In my opinion music is the vastest, most beautiful and complex topic our earth has created ...

    So, let´s go for it...

  • @FlyingVification I agree! :-)

    Music is a wonderful gift!

  • I've been playing guitar off and on for 40 years. I can't read music or tabs, I learn by ear but some things I just can't seem to get. Will guitar pro 6 help me learn the licks that I can't get by entering the notes or tabs in the program?

    Thanks,

    JB

  • @sabbathman56 It might, but entering those notes require you to know where the notes need to be entered. There are quite a bit of tabs out there though.

One of my favorite tools of GP6 is the loop trainer. You can loop a section slowly and very gradually increase its speed. It's great for fast licks!

  • how can i configure it to use the microphone plug???

  • @DaRkRoCk24 You are talking about Guitar Rig, right? Not Guitar Pro...

Just plug your mic as you would with the guitar.

Maybe I don't understand your question correctly?

  • @Wallimann mmmm I tried doing so but the sound didn't change the guitar keept clean :S and i tried differet presets

  • @DaRkRoCk24 I don't think I understand your question... :-/

  • @Wallimann nvm I found how to do it thanks :)

  • can i use this software to record stuffs using a keyboard???

a reply wud be appreciated thank you!!!

  • @9322002898 Yes you can, but only step by step. So it's really useful if you want to enter a chord that is too awquard on your instrument...

  • can I use guitar rig with the microphone plug in???

  • @DaRkRoCk24 Yeah. :-)

  • thanks

do you know of any program that i can use to distort and give effects to my guitar by pluging it to the pc???

  • @DaRkRoCk24 Yeah, I use Guitar Rig. :-)

  • how do i hide the standard notation so that i con only see the tablature???

  • @DaRkRoCk24 Go to the "Track" menu and in the "Properties". You can hide the standard notation in there. :)

  • walli i got a question, how do u open ulitmate guitar downloads with guitar pro 6??

  • @TeamXtremeUK Hmmm.. If they are GP format, you should just open them like any other files...

  • ca-y-po did that piss ne 1 else off CAA po KA-PO

  • @dobsonone That's what you get when English is your second language... :-D

  • @dobsonone WRONG!!! its pronounced ca-y-po. not capo as in cat

  • The only thing that bothered me was the "instrument panel"...a little disappointing comparing with GP5.

  • i also like to speak with my head in an angle :)

  • @gahjii Ah! I knew I was not the only one!!! :-D

  • hey david i need help i want to upgrade to the new guitar pro but my band dont and i write most of our songs so they need my tabs but i guess gp6 tabs wont work on gp5.2

  • @xom400 You can export scores you create in GP6 in GP5 format. :-)

  • @Wallimann YOU LEGAND IM GETTI NG THIS !!!!!!!!!

  • @xom400 If you do, I would really appreciate it if you got it from the link in the description of this video. I get a small percentage of the sale. :-D

  • @Wallimann will do man (ill leave it till after x mas but i will do

  • guitar pro 5 also has speed trainer..

  • @junjunhun Yeah it does! :-)

  • can u still import tabs from ultimate guitar.com

  • @MetalPhoenix13 If they are Gp3, GP4 and GP5, yeah. :-) You can also import ASCII and PowerTabs.
