@carfreak2795 I just got the car 4 months ago and love it but still getting used to the cvt. And when you mash the pedal you are instantly at redline and engine is at max HP. I almost put in ditch cause of that damn torque steer the first time, and on 2 lane road with family!

@carfreak2795 I don't know if it ruins it, it's just different. the powerband is a bit strange but the instant torque is cool it will push you back in seat a bit when you hit it from the right speed.

I love the new cvt. but I want it in the 08 Maxi. My only concern is it sounds very loud, not the tranny the engine. someone who actually owns a cvt please let me know if there are really this loud, or am I just crazy

the cvt is loud in this car at high rpm but it pays off the acceleration is extremely smooth, anyway regular transmissions get loud after about 4000 rpm and if you are shifting in a auto tranny its also gonna be loud cuz u will be shifting over 4-5 thousand RPM so its still pretty much the same in terms of sound but performance wise CVT is da shit.

Thanks. I will keep that in mind. See i'm trying to compare my mother's E-class Benz to the Maxi, in terms of smoothness, and loudness. Also the Benz has additional 7th gear to decrease rpm and improve mpg.

there is no comparison, these cars are from two different worlds, take it from someone who knows, i own a maxima, and my family has an e and an s class benz, the e class with a v8 and auto can get better mileage and drives better, is quietter, and smoother than the vq and cvt combined, i really loved nissan, but they truly dont really produce anything thrilling anymore, the maxi w/auto was better, cvt is shit, in refining products they lost attitude a la 370z n infiniti down the drain

Thanks for the insight. I made that coment over a year ago, now Mother is considering getting the 2011 E-350. I want her to get the E-350 Bluetech but she hates diesels. On the other hand I now want either a 2010 Maxima or Sonta.

no way man htere pretty damn quiet... i mean when you gun it you can hear it inside the car but its quiet. its so weird though hearing the engine get up to high end and stay there while hte car goes faster and faster

Thanks. But I wasn't able to get a 2008 Maxima, waiting about two months too long. Now I'll looking at the 2010 Maxima with 290hp and 265torque. Now I'm waiting to test drive the SV-Sport Package. Really not concerned so much about the loudness of the engine/tranny, I figure I could just turn up the volume on the Bose speaker system.
