  • Mr Jstratford, less than 11% of all gold is used for anything other than investment and jewelry, and we can get all the gold we need for all of the forseeable future from recycled sources. Gold mining is simply not needed. at all. Also, for those other metals, we should work towards justice for the communities near the mines, for the workers, and of course we should recycle as much as possible! Don't try to guilt us into not seeing injustice when and where it happens.

  • For anyone who has any complaints about mining, strip all of the nickel, stainless steel and copper out of your house. Throw your camera in the bin as there's gold wiring in there. Oh and most of your devices come from China where the mining industry is nowhere near as stringent and socially responsible as Western companies. So chuck your iPod in the bin and we'll have a conversation. Until then don't be hypocrites.

  • Adnan Khashoggi, the Saudi arms dealer, was the first major financier for Barrick. When Adnan was indited for fraud in the US, Peter Munk, paid the $4 million bail. The past director of the CIA was appointed chairmand of Barrick's international advisory board (Bush Senior was CIA director in 1976).

The level of corruption is wild, sick, and psychopathic at the upper levels of society.

  • I find it disgusting that a company like Barrick can casually perpetrate atrocities like these under the guise of Canadian values.

    Utterly nauseating.
