  • Love this song. Thank you so much for posting this. Back when I used to play the piano, this was my favorite to play.

  • man, this song is very very beautiful. It kinda hurts my heart the noise together with it. Still, thanks for posting. If you allow me, I would love to try some noise reduction method in it using MATLAB. There are also some noise reduction softwares you can try :)

  • This is my favorite Joni Mitchell song. Thanks a million for posting it--I was wondering if she had ever performed this one in concert, and now, I know.

  • I played this piece quite often back some 35+ years ago. Found the music and took a stab at it. Ooo not so good anymore. Thanks for this raw version to remind me how wonderful the song is. Now off i go to practice!

  • an absolute gem! thank you for postiing this very rare treasure!

  • much appreciated

  • anyone know how to get sheet music for this?

  • @broadwayboy1 If you haven't found it in the past year... the answer is that there is/was a book of sheet music for the entire album, "For the Roses." If it's out of print and you still want it, send me a note.

  • @broadwayboy1 If you haven't found the sheet music in the past year... there's a book of sheet music for the entire album entitled "For the Roses." Of course, it was probably published 40 years ago. If it's out of print, send me a note.

  • Infinitely beautiful.

It's such a rare privilege to hear this live.

  • this is amazing! I would want nothing more than be able to attend one of joni's concerts back in those days...

  • i feel like a dork , 3 great comments , and i messed up and dumped them all ( thought i was hitting reply , grrrr ) .

i love this song and as one person said , it was rare to hear live in the early days except for right around the time show debuted it .

and another mentioned her her later torch song versions in the last decade or so . which were great but very different .

  • also, one mentioned the sad cassette recorder ( or whatever ) that this must have been recorded on . true , the squeaking front door is a strange sound to hear , plus there are some obvious sound flubs . but i , personally can deal with it and almost dig it more , cause i love the music and it makes me listen more .

okay , to those i erased , im sorry . come back and comment again . and please , if you haven't , comment on .
