if i was going to run multiple music recording, editing, mixing software with a external soundcard in the play running through surround sound moniters do you think the i5 could handle it ? or should i just go for the best of the best and spend and extra 400 dollars for the i7 version

Dude 1680x1050 is not really that close to 1080 p full hd... You're missing out on 240 vertical lines which is quite a lot... Good review though...

@reetruss - Yes, the average product life cycle (time between releases) of a MacBook Pro is 208 days - it has already been 254 days since the last MBP was announced. Most sources seem to point to a MacBook Pro launch around about the time the new iPad is launched, most likely February/March time 2011. :)
