I like the new album very much. However, at times it's a little too mid 60's Simon & Garfunkel-esque. I don't want them to abandon the truly beautiful sound and style of the "Sun Giant" EP, and their first album. They are very special recordings.

There is no way they'll ever blend in, maybe the instrumentals aren't as dominant as many other songs, but the vocals are mind blowing..they always have been and they always will be.

There's a lot of songs that sound like this. I wish they used some of those "pop" elements they were so excited to get rid of.

They have a unique and multi-leveled sound on their first album, I really hope they don't start blending in. This song worries me in that regard.

@wolfmanjaxon I thought that White Winter Hymnal was good but so far the rest that I've heard were not as good. I think that with the other songs that I don't like as much they could have incorporated a little bit of pop into it to make it better. But that is just my opinion. Other fans probably think that they are good the way they are.

@wolfmanjaxon i dont understand your scrutiny. why would expression need to be progressive or 'unique'? i think this song is wonderful, based on the simplicity of it, really. like someone else said, its impossible for FF to blend in, due to the vocal use. i have yet to come across such vocals as these and dont expect to any time soon. lately it seems as though music has become some sort of arms race. your scrutiny worries me in that regard.

@chelleybeezy There aren't many albums out there where I'm going to love every song on it. I like simplicity in some songs but I think this one was missing something and sounded generic to the genre. Some of the modern day folk acts can come off as altruistic and I was more or less saying I hope Fleet Foxes doesn't go down that road.

@Matt24002, What I've heard of their new stuff is more Robin with an acoustic guitar than a whole band effort. That's what worries me. I absolutely LOVE the previous recordings, I hope they do not change their magic formula.

@deadhead517, I meant absolutely no offense to hippies. Hippies are cool! Like I explained in my follow up comment, I just don't want Fleet Foxes to become Robin and an acoustic guitar. He can do that as a side project, as indeed he has with White Antelope. The previous recordings were magic, and I think that they should not mess with perfection! Can't wait for May and the release of "Helplessness Blues"!
