I was always kind of diappointed in the F-Armor, because Eva-01 never actually did anything. He just through all of the new armor-gimmicks at the enemy.
No it's not Chokogin. According to the tech kits the F-type armor seen here is an AT field amplifier, as the armor covering the eva is less for protection and more for restraint.
The impact bolt is actually an AT field fired as a weapon like Asuka can do.
Note that F-Type equipment appears in the anime, in the episode with the Nuclear robot we are told that Eva-01 is equipped with F-Type equipment to survive a nuclear blast, though it doesn't look any different from normal.

So does anybody happen to know just HOW you get the F-Type equipment in the PS2 version of the Eva2 game? Apparently you can get it in the PSP version as Ritsuko, but how does a pilot get it?
@ArkRiley While most Gundams may not have very good armor in the SRW series of games, they're actually considered pretty well armored in their own shows.
@Armetius Well, that's true, though in the UC, beam weaponry renders armor rather ineffective and the late UC sheds armor and size for maneuverability.
The original RX-78-2 tanked machine gun fire like a pro, but it never really had a "heavily armored" look to it, The ZZ did, though. Still, that lunar titanium is pretty sturdy.
@ArkRiley Other Verses though like AC had a Gundam (XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero) had a gundam that looked thin and slender that can tank a colony laser(Gundam Evolve 7) That Gundanium Alloy puts all other G Metals to shame(Gundanium > Gundarium/Luna Titanium
@ArkRiley The ironic part is that the ZZ actually had a lot of design flaws as well. I wonder why did they change the VF concept so much when they already had problems when designing the first variable fighters? (see Hyaku Shiki)
The F-Type Equipment(it includes of Prog.Sword N2Missile and much much more) was an original Concept of Gainax(Even the ActionFigures exist)..i Wonder, why they didin't insert that(AWESOME KICKASS THING!) armor into the anime?

Yes...apparently Unit 01 gets armor + weapons. I have no idea if its from any Eva related media...but yeah its pretty awesome.
