oh i was in the audience watching this..it was unbelievable...every year i would wait for the day our highschool had a game against Langham Creek just so i could watch their show at half time...and on competitions we would just sit there and wait for them...oh how i miss the good old days...haha
Well, Langham beat Falls not only at SHSU, but also at BOA Super Regionals by a good margin.
If you want to argue reputation is the only reason, thats fine, but sort of ignorant on your part. Especially since this school isnt even known to the BOA judges, since they are not a big BOA band.
Either way, the judges know what they're doing, and the better bands always come out on top.
competition SHOULD be about what happens there and not what the big picture is and especially not have to do with big reps cause honestly that what got langham second place
This band placed second because they deserved it, reputation has nothing to do with it obviously. Exibit A: Duncanville. If rep had ANYTHING to do with it, Duncaville would have won. And i think everyone would agree Duncanville has a bigger rep than langham. So there is no justification to your statement.
I wish people wouldnt post negative comments about great, hardworking programs on youtube. But its not like that unfortunatley :[
Considering they finished their show about two days before SHSU, they DEFINATLY deserved second. You would never know they just finished unless someone told you.
schools are NEVER that clean right after finishing their shows. It just shows how amazing this program is. Nothing this group does can be describe as "terrible".
im not a big fan of the music (not a very good tuba part either) but it was a cool show nonetheless. i much rather prefer when we played Scheherazade the year before (much more beefy!!)
Ok. I didn't care for the music selection. Having such an elaborate classical peice at a marching band contest is a little over the top...however, having said that, I can't believe that they didn't place higher than 6th. Marching is spot on, guard is great, sound is outstanding and just the general effect is..well, WOW!!! Great job!
they were amazing, but langham definatly played harder music (which they are known to do). so on a musical standpoint especially, it may surprise some people they didn't place higher.
It's amazing how large the band has become since the days of 8th grade, freshmen and sophomores only, going to school in a new junior high in Copperfield in 1984-85 before the high school was finished. We wore polo shirts and blue jeans for our uniform that year. Beautiful piece Lobos. Thanks!
lol, no. Langham beat Marcus out for 5A Honor band. Plus, i think Langham has a much more consistent record of being state finalists than Marcus does. Ditto with Texas Honor band.
(not saying that in a mean way, or to take away from Marcus. Theyre state show was absolutley fabulous and they were very deserving of the state title last year.)
thats true, but thats just marching. being "the best" would mean you need to not only be strong state contenders, but state honor band contenders, which is for concert band. Bell's concert program isnt even a contender in honor band, as far as i know.
I go to summit we are still pretty new but I consider us state contenders. the person I am trying to tell all of this to said this. what do you expect from the best band in the Nation? I am just trying to show that this is not true at all I just cant stand ignorance. sorry if I offended you
Amazing! We played Enigma variations last year for concert season and it makes a really cool marching show! Great performance!

@langleywil Definitely not...our band has always used orchestral music in our show and it definitely payed off.....definitely not over the top.
