I wonder if this is Michael Ponti playing this Tausig transcription. The ArkivMusic website lists Ponti as playing this on a 1992 VoxBox release called "Operatic piano" but it appears to be out of print. Anyone have this 2-CD set who could confirm?

Guys I FOUND IT !!!! I have the sheet music for this arrangement. The thing is MONUMENTAL and almost impossible to play. This dude left no key unused, The piece has 6-note chords for each hand and gigantic arppeggios for both hands. But that's the least difficult thing. The Speed ..... geez. You finish a 40 note arppeggio and a millisecond after that you have a 10 note chord to play with both hands, and the thing is about 2 or 3 octaves lower. >.>

Wagner was acutely anti-semitic. Although many Europeans were in his time, his was a particularly vehement strain of racism. This is a stirring piece but this intellectual flaw, revealed through his anti-enlightenment views on race, relegate Wagner's work from the top echelon of German music. It is a cultural defect which will forever blemish his reputation. Although it does serve to demonstrate his inferiority to Bach, Beethoven, Schubert and Mendelssohn (the Liszt goes on).

I think this was Hitler's favourite song. Hitler was a brilliant man. He was evil and horrible but he was very clever and had excellent taste in music and art. There's nothing wrong with liking the same music as Hitler. Just as I find nothing wrong with liking Hitler's paintings which only didn't get very far because people were really only interested in modernist art at that point. Yes he was a horrible man but he was also had very good taste.
