  • ASHA PAREKH...... the legend... i jus luv her

  • great song nicely sung by rafi sahab and greatly written by mazrooh sahab and beautiful music by panchamda, and above all superrab acting by legend shammi ji. Shammiji we will miss you and you will always be in our memories.

  • one of the most adorable actors...shammi kapoorji...you will always be missed...

  • Its strange how people in those times found such acting HIT....

I am born in the mid eighties and when I see Shammi Kappoor his mannerisms seem totally gay to me.. the way he acts walks and behaves . No offense meant to anyone!

Just shows how times change.. Imagine men behave like this in todays times in movies.

People will think he is a bobby darling!

  • No more Rofi & No more Shammi.

  • me moeder vind het leuk

  • A truly classic romantic song......

  • Love their chemistry on screen.. RIP Shammi, we will miss you greatly. Peace...

  • dommage shami kapoor est décédé il y a 3jours que dieu ait son ame en paradis il est toujours present dans notre coeur d'enfance

  • dommage shami kapoor est décédé il y a 3jours que dieu ait son ame en paradis

  • no doubt rafi sahab was a legend but ...the composition was totaly awesome ...the tune always play in my head

  • shammi kapoor had more of "adaa" and "latka jhatka" then the actress in the same frame with him... always makes me smile..may he rest in peace

  • Shammi ji and Rafi saheb = Gold, So sad to hear a legend passed away. RIP.

  • rafi sahab always best.........for ever

  • @rrustam9 wld this song have been a hit if fat lil Rafi had lip synched? Face it, Shammi added immeasurably to Rafi's songs and Rafi always added extra spice to Shammi's songs. It's like Raj-Mukesh, Rajesh-Kishore-symbiosis occurs:)

  • @cinnamonianpalona wud this song have been a hit if Mukesh had lent his voice to Shammi's histrionics!?! perhaps not. Mohd Rafi sang for many artists which always added to their screen persona. Rafi saab wud sing in such a way that one wud feel as if the artist was singing it, b it Dev saab,Dharam ji,Dilip saab or Shammi ji. singers like Rafi saab come very rarely and i feel it is our gud fortune that we livd in a century wen a great singer called Mohd Rafi also livd and breathd life into songs

  • @usharaina Kishore cld have sung it and no singer can match every actors' voice, we are always aware we're listening to X or Y singer. See the difference when Kishore or Amitabh sing for themselves!

  • @usharaina Kishore cld have sung it and no singer can match every actors' voice, we are always aware we're listening to X or Y singer. See the difference when Kishore or Amitabh sing for themselves! But its true that Rafi and Shammi were great friends and had many music sessions with Roshan (Hrithik's grdpa) late into the night and that bond is apparent.

  • @cinnamonianpalona dear sir/ma'am,...but really,....I don't know what to say!!!!!! Roshan with Rafi and Shammi and their bonding into late nights, fairy tales someone!?!

all of us know that no singer can match an actor's voice perfectly, but some singers can pick up some nuances from the actors which tells us who the singer might be singing for,eg. , Udit Narayan singing for amir Khan........or Mohd Rafi singing for some yesteryear actors.

  • @usharaina read ( in this case, Shammi's interview reprinted in some mag recently) sometimes instead of whinging on ur mobile 24/7

  • @cinnamonianpalona wow sir/ma'am. Shammi, interview in 'some' mag, don't u think u need 'some' memory pills. which mag shud I check to authenticate ur claim nd recently means what!?! nd what does 'whinging' mean, ur own vocabulary I presume which u invent when perhaps ur s**t hits the sky. AND furthermore ur last claim that i shud read instead of watevr on my fone, well sir/ma'am, if i did not read, i wud not've read ur ingenious cmmnts God bless ur tribe. SOME interview in SOME mag RECENTLY...

  • @usharaina honey bunch dont get mad coz no one's hired u yet! Maybe coz u r so infantile? And brush up on ur angrezi, chick.

  • Shammi Ji,

though U took exit from this world.......... Ur presence will make heaven HEAVENLY .......... God must be missing u till yesterday

  • You are evergreen Shammijji!

  • Shammi ji made every one Deewana..with his style

  • RIP Shammiji

  • NO ONE CAN REACH THE HEIGHT OF YOUR BRILLIANCE MR "SHAMMI KAPOOR".MAY GOD BLESS YOUR SOUL!!!

  • RIP shammi Ji

  • R.I.P Shammi Kapoor May God Almighty grant you the Kingdom of Heaven !!!!

  • Rest in peace Shammi..you will live in our hearts forever....

  • Greatest actor of all time..hearing you are no longer with us is sad.

  • Superb actor Shammi Kapoor Sahib and Mohd Rafi Sahib, always made a great combination.Mohd Rafi's songs were made more mesmerizing by being picturised on Shammi ji than on any other artist of the time.Sadly, both are no more among us today. They shall be remembered by generations for ages for their superlative performances as wonderful team

  • superb actor, may his soul rest in peace.

  • Rest in peace Shammi Kapoor

  • R.I.P shammiji , my grandpa favorite actor and also mine too .

  • shammi sa'ab. R.I.P. u were a great entertainer.

  • Gosh, it pains me so deeply too...There are so few song which speak volumes with words anymore! Gone are the days when the beauty of the lyrics stood out. Mostly loud noises, gyrations, copied material and non actors and so called stars mostly in Hindi cinema who can't even speak the language.

  • Records on 3rd August 2011 say 6 people don't know what music is.. Wonder how many more there are..

  • Old i gold ,thanks for posting...

  • Golden years of Hindustani films what a great actor Shammi Kapoor was and what a great songs of 60s brings back very good memories.

Sadly, what we have today is corrupt and westenized Bollywood with over rated Khan Child or Kid actors who cannot act but are made famous by today's ignorant and stupid young generation.

My killer is ahead and I am behind.

Ever since I found my enemy loveable, I have no idea of the way and destination.

Now I walk with closed eyes like somnambulist.

Let tomorrow care itself. This is what we have decided.

These words for moment or two are my asset of life.

This comapany, though shortlived, is much better than my loneliness.

  • Beautiful song with Rafiji's signature

  • whacko jacko came later and shammi was the first - so dont make silly comparisions - to each his genre

  • shammi kapoor has his own style and class

  • Michael Jackson, wtf?! How can you even compare him to this, it's two different ethnic groups, two different types or music, two different time eras...

  • Comment removed

  • yeah.........................me too

  • Asha parekh.....wow!! look tat lady......my sincere request to all the heroines of today.....learn a bit of elegence frm her......mam u r jst wonderful......god take us back to that generation .....

  • Absolutely agree with you on Asha Parekh, one of the best actresses and dancers of all time. A true Icon of Indian Cinema.

  • Hey..its such a wonderful song.... shammi is my fav...

  • must hai song yar ;-)

  • the problem is people have misconception that all white people r evil. i am a white dude with green eyes just as the guy who is in this video. majority of green/blue/hazel/brown eyed dudes r verrrrry nice people, but majority of blue eyed people r evil no matter if u r white or black or brown or wheatish. its natural.

  • i mean green/hazel/brown eyed dudes r verrrry nice people.

  • this is very romantic song i ever seen

  • This song is beautiful, I really enjoy the old classics =)

  • great song with great song I thank the song writer and the musicians. I have enjoyed listening the songs so much.

  • This song is copied from an old Nepali song "Eh Kancha" by Aruna Lama.

  • @rodungp IT IS NOT A COPY. 'Eh Kancha' which is a wonderful song, is the inspiration and frankly hindi version sounds much better.

  • one of the all-time favs of mine :)

Just too good to express in words!!!!

RIP Rafi Saa'b...And of course shammi's magical 'gardan ke jhatke'...

  • He's like the Indian Elvis. Hehe

  • Elvis is the American Shammi! lol :D

  • how about GIVING CREDIT WHERE ITS REALLY DUE????

Rafi sahab's amazing and unmatched vocals is wht makes this and countless others he sang, into hits!!

  • You can't be more right! All these actors owe a huge part of their personal success to Rafi's golden voice whose songs enhanced their acting abilities many folds, in fact in some cases, masked their acting limitations. I am sure a great many would even admit so.

    Kanwal

  • you r true. Behind every hit old picture and actor and actress there is mind blowing songs, words and music. Credit goes to lyrics, singer and music directors. Old is

    Gold.

  • Amazing...and true :) 5 stars

  • I agree!! (well, except maybe Dev Anand...but none of the actors in his days was as charmingly delightful as he was!!) And boi does Asha Parekh look excessively cute here, with her gleaming dark brown eyes, long perfect (never out of place) black ebony hair, and girlish humour...Both are such charming actors!!

  • And of course only the inimitable Shammi Kapoor could pull it off with such ease and nonchalance..no one quite wooed a woman on screen as he did...

  • Those were the days my friends

  • Talking about crossing borders... well, I can guarantee you that such evergreen songs are entranched deep in our hearts in Malaysia too.

  • Same for all of us diasporic indians, whether it be Malaysia, or South Africa, or the Carribean...Me personally being of Indo-Fijian descent, my grandparents were so full of shock and in the same delight in re-watching this song I showed them here...brought back the memories of their days listening to all of this in their youth back home in Fiji, and particulary when they were newly wedded...

  • folks - if anyone has this karaoke will u PLEASE email it to me? i just can't find it anywhere. thank you very much!!

  • gr8 song

  • Great song! Well done. And I'm assuming aly7500, that you posted the English translation here. Thank you!!

  • Wow! I love this song..and always will..

  • great song.. rd and rafi saab is magical form.. and this song i based on the tune of a nepali song..

  • der is no form dis was rd burmans first film he did by himself

  • rd magic here.. and yes this song is inspired by a romantic nepalese song: ae kahnchha ma lai sun ko tara. both asha bhosle and shammi kapoor confirmed this in their interviews..

  • you r right heroni!!! exactly sounds like 'aa kancha'.

  • oops wrng info dis was his first film he got noticed for. he did couple ohers before it

  • nice song

  • Original Indian songs have built sweet memorial impulse into so many hearts during teenage-period in Sudan four decades ago. There were considerable numbers of Indian workers in Ginaid Sugar Factory, and lot of Indian merchants in Sudan that time. I can well remember that time my friends and I nicknamed some of our sweethearts by names like Asha Parikh, Vejentimalla, Momtaz and others.

  • Lovely sentiments. It reflects well upon the magnanimous spirit of the people of Sudan. Indian Cinema when done right have a way of building relations that span cultures, religions and geography because they appeal to the good side of humans. I married someone from East Europe and the story there is the same.

  • Thanks Faiz Hakim (فايز حكيم) for the enlightenment. I noticed that you have nothing in ur channel. When will you build it? To do so choose only a narrow theme (niche) for the channel to be attractive!

  • Such a fantastic song!

  • Not even from my generation, but I grew up listening to it because my parents love it...and now, I do too!!! such a classic!! thank you posting it.

  • What a fabulous song... but what many dont know is that the tune of this song is actually from a Nepali song. Burman shab liked it so much that he actually urged that this music be used by him in his composition for the movie.

  • 1965 Highschool life, one of my best song, shammi kapoor and rafi like raj kapoor and mukesh,so many songs so many life happy.
