Once the Economy rebounds.. WTF?The Government created this problem on both sides of the fence, they created the Welfare State and they hold the thumb on us with over regulation as to stifle economic growth! Don’t believe this Government media propaganda BS! We need to create a demand for unskilled manufacturing jobs! Cut Government and cut Welfare and give them a choice..Work or starve bring back the large orphanages’ dysfunctional people create more dysfunctional people, so end it!
I think they should be drug tested. How is a person work-ready if they will test positive for drug use? I started a new job a few months ago after being unemployed for a long while. Was it unfair when my new employer drug tested me? No. Neither is it unfair for an unemployment benefit recipient to be drug tested to make sure they can start a new job asap.
What drug dealer accepts foodstamps from their buyers. Show me one. I can understand testing the ones who gets ssi or social security but testing the ones who just receive stamps?
What a joke 70% of the USA does some sort of illegal drug, and the women's results are used to determine if they have STD's, what a sick shit-hole society we are now
@goldenknight777 actaully its 28% of US popluation has done or is doing drugs.. of which 74,7% are black or hispanic, 11% are oriental and rest is caucasion.. (according to the D.A.R.E. statistics..
@goldenknight777 yeah okay thats a real inteligent response.. nice retort. ASSHOLE.. adn Yes it is the truth. I am a member of the DARE PROGRAM.. you are a dumbass. probably a low ass Drug dealing and using Black lazy welfare bumb..
how this the racist redneck lady know they are drug dealers. Does she buy drugs from them. I do agree with drug testing, but i think that republicans are racist. I do support drug testing though.
@TheFreedomwriter1234 how are republicans racist?? why are Democrats racist? ?ooh wait majority of democrats are black. hmm go figure.. just saying it can be interperted both ways there buddy..
If I have to pee in a bottle to work and pay into the welfare system then those getting it should have to pee in a bottle. Fail it and welfare stops..
@realussoldier45 Drug addiction is a sickness so rather then deny the people that test positive for drugs benefits-the more practical solution would be to make in mandatory that they receive outpatient treatment and gradually ween them off drugs -you don't punish someone because they have a probem you get them help
@curtisjones400 NOPE NO drugs at all. I know the drug background, I grew up around it and all my uncles, aunts are druggies, They get aid as well but I dont agree with that either.. If i have to stay clean and pee in a bottle to pay work and pay taxes then People on welfare should too. NO EXCEPTIONS. Get them help but dont pay them shit. and ONCE they are clean limit how long people can be on welfare..Welfare is a AID not a life time choice.
@realussoldier45 Get them help and not pay them shit is not the answer either-it only makes the crime problem worst and he adds to the homeless population-recovering addicts can return the workforce i had a friend of mine who i helped get off drugs why she was recieving benefits-she found a job and got off of welfare-drug addiction is a sickness and should be treated as such
Why should tax payers support or help support ppl doing illeagal things? Welfare should be used to help ppl who get into a bind, not those who put themselves there.
I was once part of the poorest crowd in america. I was homeless for a number of years. I ended up getting a job and ending that life. Was it easy? trying to work when I was sleeping in a tent in the mountains? Hell no. one of the hardest things I have ever done.
Now I have a ranch and raise cattle and shoe horses. Nothing special about me. Just a drive to better myself. so all these people that cry "wha-wha I'm to poor to do anything" screw em. make your own life.
Idk.. I'm for it and against it I guess. I think it's unconstitutional and another way to enslave americans. But on the other hand I Dø know alot of people on welfare that either sell drugs or Dø them so...
These laws are unconstitutional because it's the government testing citizens, not a company testing employees, Companies are perfectly within their rights to drug test employees at any time. According to the constitution, the government MUST have probable cause that someone is doing drugs BEFORE performing such tests. A similar law was ruled unconstitutional in Michigan and the Florida law has been blocked for the same reason.
@goldenthroat86 the constitution is irrelevant in todays society.. i.e. the 3rd amendment, it was created so that after the revolutionary war was over we could kick soldiers out of our houses.. its a piece of paper 224 years old and the men who wrote it had no idea what society would be like
@THEStephenStanton Is the first amendment (freedom of speech, religion, press) also irrelevant in today's society? The 2nd amendment (gun rights) was created so a volunteer army could be formed quickly. Since the "men who wrote it had no idea what society would be like," it's no longer relevant. By your logic, the government needs to outlaw all guns. And forget the 4th amendment. The government should be able to search your house at any time, for no reason. It's "irrelevant in today's society."
To begin with, if you use illegal drugs, you should not have access to wealfare! It is the same with on the job and illegal drug use, you are punished for using drugs and will loose your job.
Yeah it sounds good at first, but when the crime rate goes up because people cant feed themselves and families (and it will) because they smoke pot , there will be a different reaction. Why not test anyone who gets a tax return, thats fair too right? You dont punish someone with an addiction, you help them. This is supposed to be a Christian society yet most posters only care about how it effects their wallets. The long term implications outweigh the short term envisioned savings.
@Grimmblood ...yOU WORK IN A CONVENIECE STORE AND HAVE TO CHECK OUT PEOPLE WITH WADS OF MONEY TO BUY THEIR ROLLING PAPERS AND FOOD STAMPS TO BUY THEIR ENERGY DRINKS TO MIX THEIR ALCOHOL WITH THEN TELL ME THIS AGAIN . MOST OF THEM HAVE MORE MONEY THAN THE REST OF US THAT WORK EVERYDAY THEY JUST SELL DRUGS TO SUPPORT THEIR HABIT .DRUG TEST THEM ALL THEN MAYBE THERE WILL BE ENOUGH MONEY TO HELP THE ONES WHO DO NEED THE HELP
Great idea. The kids will be better of growing up removed from a drug home and in a home where parents have a healthy work ethic. It will save money because the drug using people will be removed from the dole. I have used food stamps. Also healthy food should be covered and soap and toothpaste but not candy chips and soda pop.
@wsevenbvh Really. I was raised by a family with a ''healthy work ethic'' and was emotionally abused. Write to the Dept of Agriculture and tell them how you would implement not being able to pay for ''candy'' ''chips'' and ''soda'' on food stamps. So you want a nanny state that controls which foods people can purchase. Define exactly what ''candy'' ''chips'' and ''soda'' is. Which brands could you not purchase and who would make that decision? What about all the new products?
@BaseballPie ...ADDICTS STILL EVERYDAY ANYWAY .......I WORK IN A CONVENIENCE STORE I KNOW THIS ....I AM SICK AND TIRED OF MY TAX DOLLARS GOING TO HELP THEM STAY ON DRUGS ...I KNOW WAY TO MANY PEOPLE WHO WORK ARE NOT ON DRUGS AND DESPERATELY NEED HELP THAT CANT GET IT WHILE THESE LAZY ASS DRUG ADDICTS SIT ON THEIR ASS AND GET ALL THE HELP THEY WANT .
when they're using drugs while they're on welfare and that renders them unemployable. Besides, it would refer clients to drug treatments, which would only help families.
Besides, shouldn't CPS remove a child from a home if one or both parents are on drugs?
And the USA extends the amount of freedom Its citizens have. Why not test everyone in the US? If your drug free you can stay if not you get booted. And by doing that we can screen for illegal immigrants that suck up our hard working tax payers money and get rid of them.
Liberals are so retarded, How is this unconstitutional to drug test welfare recipients, when they allow drug testing to happen for any job you apply for. It's like saying people who are to lazy to work for them self’s don't have to be held accountable and they can just stay at home and smoke weed, on my tax dollars for the rest of their "GOD DAMN LIFE" while the rest off America works to support their drug addition. I don't give a crap if this disrupts families. It's a necessary expense.
One study showed that if a person is on drugs and welfare and they are cut off they go on General Assistance. Since their rent would be considered higher compared to their grant they will receive more food stamps. This doesn't solve the problem it just transfers it to another program.
What about the children? Typical bleeding-heart answer for government funded drug use. Don't do drugs=get your check, do drugs=do not get your check. In the military, I had to be drug-free to get my government check, why should breeding loafers be any different?
The real problem is that there are too many people in America and not enough jobs! Then you get the blacks and their crack problem thrown into the mix and it's a recipe for welfare!
I think it's obvious for a hundred reasons that drugs should be legal, but it's asinine that you have to take a drug test for almost any job, but to sit on your ass and steal money from other people you don't. It's just insane.
@MaximusRelaximus Exactly. The issue at hand isn't "Should weed be legal or not". The issue this is addressing is that people are taking advantage of a system that was put in place to help those actually in need, and this new act will weed out those who abuse the system (no pun intended)
we'll get ready for just about everybody to lose their benefits because i'm gonna tell you that everybody smokes weed and a lot of people who smoke weed share. thats weed smoking culture. a lot of people are gonna come up dirty who never spent a dime of their government money. if you think thats fair, fine but what about our bankers? if we're not gonna give benefits to someones family because they smoke weed then why in the fuck should we give these people bailouts?? thats our money too!!!!
@renzokata Good point. There are a lot of people who steal tax payer money, but just cause we can't get them all, does that mean we should let the ones we can get, get away?
@Tommy9834 no because they need that money to survive. why go after the poor, they are just easy targets? and what ever happened to having 4th ammendment rights in america? i guess the poor doesn't deserve those rights? i'm on food stamps and i sure as hell dont wanna pee in any cup for someone. i'll do it to get a job i want but i don't agree with it. why is it ok to drug test for weed and not alcohol? i dont think this whole thing is fair, kinda on the cruel side.
@renzokata Yea they need money to survive, but just cause it's needed, don't mean your entitled to someone else's money without proving your qualified at least. And no one's 4th amendment rights are being taken. No one is forced to be on welfare, you have to choose to be on welfare, and if you make that choice, it comes with requirements, one of them is you have to voluntarily wave your 4th amend rights, it's not being forced away . If you don't like it, then don't ask to be on the program.
@Tommy9834 actually this bill is in violation of federal law. i'm not sure where it is, but IT IS IN VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW. rick scott didnt care though, he went and passed it anyways. wanna know why? guess who is gonna pay for the drug test(the recepients-makes perfect sense huh?) lol-guess who supplys the drug tests? Solantic. guess who owns the company. ricks wife. conflict of interest anyone? you got a lot to learn about real life man. seriously.
@renzokata 1st, I DONT CARE THAT RICK IS MAKING A BUCK ON THIS! We get it. On every vid relating to this someone already mentioned it, usually, when they run out of ammo for their argument. I don't like him, but his plan will still benefit me. So what if he makes a buck?
2nd, You can't remember which federal law this violates cause it doesn't violate any. Take a few law classes. This is not a violation of the 4th or the 5th amend, in case you were gonna say that.
@Tommy9834 first of all dude, i NEVER run out of ammo, so your gonna have to do something. i am already right. you agreeing doesn't change shit. time will prove that. if you can't see my point(which is above yours) then thats your problem-i'm just responding to your comments... lol soon drugs wont be illegal anymore and so will do away with drug testing too. we're still kinda in the dark ages locking innocent people in prison for it, but hey, we will evolve with time. we have. we will.
@renzokata If drugs were legalized, THAT WOULD BE GREAT!! ABOUT FUCKEN TIME!!
But that's not the issue, and even if drugs were legal, we should still test them. Why?
Lets say you lost your job and asked to borrow some money to pay rent. I lend you some, but instead of buying necessities, you buy luxuries that you don't need. Pot is a luxury, whether it's legal or not. I have every right to be pissed and stop lending you money right? Same thing here. Pop positive, we stop giving you money.
@Tommy9834 actually for a lot of people pot is a medicine and it works just great as one too. for exampe, i use pot to help control my seizures and even if you wanna use the whole "luxury" thing... thats kinda shitty to think like that too. you know the way society has things so stressful and difficult to live in it today, the least our gov could do is allow us a little escape from it. me and you are two totally different people man. i help others and give the shit off my back. just who i am
@renzokata You know what else helps you relax, a day at the spa. So I guess we should now label a trip to the spa as NECESSITY now. While we're at it, enjoying a nice expensive meal also helps you relax, so does a trip to Hawaii, a Lamborghini and even Super Bowl Ticket. I guess they're all necessities too. Good thing you were here to educate me, cause I always thought the bare essentials were the only things that were necessities. Silly me.
@Tommy9834 there you go putting words in my mouth, i clearly said weed is a medicine. everyone deserves a little happiness here and there though-HAPPINESS IS VERY IMPORTANT
@renzokata I was referring to those that smoke pot to relax. If you were prescribed pot, then great, make sure you let the ones who is testing you know that.
So are you saying happiness is an entitlement? Even if it comes at the cost of others? If so, why do I have to go to school, study, go to work, get a job, etc? That sucks. I rather drive nice cars, eat expensive meals, smoke expensive drugs, and party all day. This should all be free, if happiness is an entitlement.
@renzokata It is in violation of the 4th Amendment.
In 2003 the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, in the case of Marchwinski v. Howard ruled that the state of Michigan's policy for mandatory drug testing for welfare recipients violated our Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable search and seizure.
The system rewards laziness & incompetents ! Welfare should not b a way of life ! It should b a temporary solution, until you get a job, & take care of yourself & your family ! The government is not supposed to take care of you, & the children you bring into this world, That's your job as an adult ! We have lost sight of our responsibilities as Americans , to work hard & provide for our families. Hold people accountable, so the ones who truly need help can receive it.
@Rivfore if everybody wasnt lazy would it still be enuff jobs?if everybody went to college it would be way more lesser jobs who would work at mikey ds or walmart with a college degree.what we need to do is get rid of money and build for the future on things we need like clothes, food, health, taking care of the planet.we dont need drugs, prada, racism, religion, basicly anything dealing with confusing whiching we all are in some way.its a sad world were living in
I dont even know how people on welfare can afford drugs.. lol.. I think it's bullshit though because not everyone on welfare is a drug user.. it's really bad how they are making people look that are in need for help.. I think everyone should be tested for drugs shit they have prescription drugs out there even marijuana being prescribed this is just bullshit haha.. i'm sure people that work for welfare take drugs .. so yeah everyone in america should be drug tested what do you think?? lmao.
I'm not on welfare but I wud love for it to end!!! It's another reason for me to go insane!!! noone is protected if the goverment says "fair well to well fare" U betta lock ur doors white people lol!! If that will help!! We comming for yall!! Pay backs a B***ch LMAO
you need to learn what minority means, it means by comparison, there are not very many of you here, go ahead and try your "payback" and you'll soon learn what genocide means.
@egipt261 you are absolute proof that niggers are scum... so you are gonna go after whites because your lazy nigger ass cant get a check? yeah my doors will be locked but as soon as ou break them down.... my 12 gauge will be in your monkey face fucking nigger
@MrDjSeamless325 yall actually think its enuff money and jobs for everybody we are lazy and loseing on both ends.if it wasnt welfair blacks and whites a both be comin n your shit america would be full of crimes not for cars, clothes, and money but for food.oh yea and one more thing but werfair from the beginning you had more white ppl on foodstamps then alil bit and your kids and you on depressing pills thats drugs and whos paying for that.the rich will win in the end
A job is not the same as government benefits and does not carry with it the right to have a job. If you qualify for welfare, food stamps or medicaid, you have a right to have it and if they deny you you can appeal it and go to court - due process.
Yeah the few people you know are representative of ALL the welfare clients.
What asshole can be against this? Your tax money is being given to people who can work, but won't because they want to stay home and do their favorite drug and get paid to do it.
@zeppelin67637 yuup and this is going to make us pay more for the poeple giving the test and instead of buying drugs they will buy alcohal and what about the kids in those familys that have no choice in what there parents do.... take from them ..... so if u fall below the poverty line then u have no right to privacy....
@947969 So if the parents are buying drugs and alcohol with their EBT cards aren't they already hurting the children? Then what difference does it make if we take the EBT card away from the parent? The children are not getting the benefits from welfare and it is a drain on the taxpayers!. END PUBLIC ASSISTANCE NOW!
@RImusclebear You can't buy drugs and alcohol with an EBT card. Its programmed on the card to pay for what the state allows. Even pre-processed foods like pre-cooked chicken aren't paid for. You are stereotyping all welfare recepients by what a few do. I have no problem with drug testing those people on welfare who are arrested for using or dealing illegal drugs or known drug users.
Florida is the first state that will require drug testing when applying for welfare (effective July 1st)! Some people are complaining that this is unconstitutional. How is this unconstitutional yet it's okay that every working person had to pass a drug test in order to support those on welfare? Re-post if you agree!!! Let's get Welfare back to the one's who NEED it, not those that just WANT it!
If you are poor you deserve it, if you are on drugs....YOU DON'T...Drugs and poor isn't equal....Not all "POOR" people do drugs t....Maybe I put the wrong link up but it is a true law that I believe all states should adopt... I work and I HAVE to take a drug test to be able to pay for the "POOR people that DO DRUGS"? If you do drugs.... that's on you, NO worries, just don't have the tax payers pay for your habit.
Which drugs are they testing for? What if you legally take certian drugs prescribed to you like benzos. Are you gonna get cut off until you can prove that you get them legally? This is gonna cost a crapload of money. The Human Services Depts HATE it when a recipient takes their claim to court because of the costs involved. They would rather a recipient solves their complaint outside of court.
@jfsfrnd YOU ARE TALKING OUT YOUR AZZ. The social worker will have your Medicaid file on his/her computer. They know what drugs are prescribed and what drugs are not. Marijuana is sometimes prescribed for certain types of pain and those people would be exempt. I sincerely hope you don't bring any children into this world with your intelligence!
If someone has to take a test in order to get a job and go to work, shouldn't others have to take a test to NOT go to work? If someone chooses not to get benefits for their families because they use illegal drugs, (the argument I've heard over and over) and the kids suffer, then those people really shouldn't have kids in their care. The kids suffer anyway because they have crap for parents. Maybe testing will get some people help or a baby in a dangerous situation will get invention.
I think most people atleast have an initial drug test before being employed, since this is there idea of employment, yes they should at the VERY least have an initial drug test before they collect money. And 2:01, drug test do not destroy familys, drugs destroy familys. Why would you want children in the supervision of a fuc@en drugie. Its reasons like you working for welfare QA that so many scumbags are collecting and people that have worked and now in need are rejected. Go smoke a pole.
@jfsfrnd Why would you test all citizens? People who are self-sufficient dont need to answer to anyone. Its quite reasonable to expect somebody, who is looking for a job, to be clean.
Everybody I know HAS been drug tested in order to get a job at one time or another. Then we have to sign an agreement allowing random drug testing at the employer's discretion. Is that unconstitutional? Drugs keep people unemployed and on welfare. People don't have a right to PAARTAY at the expense of others working their asses off every day of their lives.
@mykidszgr8 Private jobs are not government benefits. ''Drugs keep people unemployed'' - are you kidding me? Who do you think does drugs - only people in poverty? I have neighbors who ''PAARTAY'' all night and they work. They also keep me up all night. Most of the people receiving food stamps are children and senior citizens. Are they gonna drug test ALL EBT household members or just the person receiving the food benefit in their name?
@jfsfrnd I believe government workers ALL have to be tested. What exactly is your beef with people getting tested? Why NOT? Is this another class war issue? If you're not doing anything wrong then what is the big deal anyway? People who show up to work every day or night are rarely partying like your neighbors. That's not common in the real world. There are always weird cases to throw in for example.
@mykidszgr8 It starts here, it goes farther. Next they will want to go into your home and search around to see if you have certain things. They used to do that to welfare recipients BTW.
The ''if you are doing nothing wrong then what is the big deal'' is not a valid argument. People who show up to work every day do drugs too. You are living in a fantasy world to think that only the poor welfare and food stamp recipients do drugs. People who work every day deal drugs too.
I will tell you that my money every two weeks helps those who are on assistance. Leave your fantasy world and WAKE UP!!! I promise that those who are fighting it will not win. Just like it is legal to test you for nicotine and you won't be hired if you test positve... and oh wait... that's legal!
And if it werent for those drug users who get assistance telling me straight out of their mouth what they do with the system then I MIGHT give your argument a chance!
@jfsfrnd You know as well as I do that elderly and little kids aren't the ones they are targeting. The government wants to know the healthy adults they send checks to are clean and able to better their situation. Whether that be through work or education.
@mykidszgr8 Yeah and employment doesn't have due process rights attached to it, but welfare and food stamps do. If you fit the eligibility criteria you have a right to have it. And no one can take it away without due process.
Then why should the elderly who get food stamps be randomly tested. The ''government'' isn't passing these drug test laws, a few, maybe 8 or 9 states are trying.
So if ''the government'' wanted something from you, you would willingly give up body fluids?
@mykidszgr8 Well there are some elderly people who do drugs, but the poor in general don't have the money to buy drugs. That's why this whole drug test the poor issue is so dumb.
I hear ya. You have some valid points. Poor people, (I have been high on the poor list and not so long ago) aren't unlike wealthy in that drugs, alcohol and other addictions happen. A family member of mine is an addict. I've seen her at her lowest and yeah the last thing she needed was to get kicked from the little support she had. Wealthy and poor make the same mistakes. But like justice, it can be a two tier system.
@mykidszgr8 When I was ''doing drugs'' and alcohol, recreationally of course, it didn't matter if I had money or not. They were always given to me. I never bought an illegal drug in my entire life. And when I stopped recreational use of drugs and alcohol it also didn't matter if I had money or not. Drug use (and or abuse) isn't dependent on the amount of money you have. ''Wealthy and poor make the same mistakes''. Exactly! And some of them hang out together - another story for another time :)
What are you suggesting that these subhuman pigs should be "Free" to? Free to bankrupt my country with government assistance? Free to steal money from my family to pay for government subsidized housing? How dare people talk about lowering test scores in America! What kind of will to work do you have when all your money is given to those who DON'T!? Remind me why we don't Call America a Communist Socialist nation again please?
to the first caller who says that drug testing will punish the children: If the parent is spending $200. or more a week on drugs, then they can use that money instead to buy groceries rather than on crack or dope.
@mykidszgr8 are you suggesting you can do what you like with your own body? ... if so i want to put "drugs" in it. just like i want to put Cake in it.
@texme Please...it's not the same. You can eat a burger and the person making the burger isn't in organized crime or killing people to produce the burger, unlike drug dealers. Large people don't commit vehicular homicide from a burger overdose. Overweight people hurt themselves, not others. Eating doesn't keep you from getting a job or knock you out so that kids are not cared for. Of course there are the extreme cases, but doing drugs is not the same as eating too many hamburgers.
@mykidszgr8 No it is the same but you are to conditioned to accept it. You have never been to amsterdam or nimbin have you. ohhh thats right your American i bet. sorry bout that.
@texme What has that got to do with anything? Stop listening to the media and following the "fad of the day" of hating the USA. Yeah I'm American! I thank God in heaven I'm American.
@mykidszgr8 Nationalism is just racism with a flag, i dont hate america i hate the idea of a fiction called a country. its a fucking word you fucking moron. its not a fad its realization of a fiction word and its fiction boarders are obsolete ideals. yes before you ask im a fiction terrorist. god bless the boarderless world of wikileaks, P2P and Anonymous.
So how did you come up with "racist moron" from me being glad I'm an American? Hate much? You don't know what race I or my family are and I have nothing to prove to you. Have a nice life.
@mykidszgr8 ''Large people'' cost the insurance companies extra dollars for health care. Diabetes, heart problems, breathing problems, depression, etc. the list goes on.
Well I stated the reason's that make obesity not the same as drug addiction. Higher insurance rates for obese people is the right of the insurance companies and doesn't have anything to do with drug abuse.
Can you imagine drug free, low crime, projects and low income housing? That is what would happen if we made it mandatory to drug test anybody who received any type of government assistance, welfare, subsidized housing!
@barnaby2011able I work for a living and I am drug tested several times a year. So welfare recipients are crying about drug testing for their welfare checks. GIVE ME A BREAK! MOST LARGE COMPANIES DRUG TEST THEIR EMPLOYEES AT RANDOM TODAY!
I am SO for it..and if you think the children will suffer..the parents are doing drugs anyway so they already are..and i know personally 6 PEOPLE who dont have kids and are on welfare! Perfectly able to get a job and work but dont. By the time im ready to retire there will be nothing left!!
Yeah a great idea..lets Punish and starve Children for the stupidity of adults..It will cost millions more to take care of fostering the Children in new homes for neglect, and parents will congest the courts with tax paying money to fight for their children and end up in paying rehab for them to get their kids back,I mean look at the big Picture..It will go into billions jsut cause selfist idiots want to take food out of the mouths of children..Has to be a better way.A child can see the evil of
@BudPeters44 Its simple, if you work for a living and don't need welfare you will probably will still get drug tested at your place of employment. Not ALL companies drug test but most of them do. So what is the big deal? If the parents are using drugs do you think they are taking care of their children in the first place? I sincerely doubt it. The welfare money is going for the parents drug habits not for the kids food!
The mentality that says drug testing is bad, is the reason why government welfare doesn't work, because there are no strings attached, like behavior modification. If a private organization gives you money to help you, it's not forever, and you have to do something in return. Government needs to end welfare, but drug testing will be a good start for people receiving welfare, food stamps, and gov housing. Imagine how safe the projects would be without the drug culture of violence.
Karen in Alabama would probably be out of a job if we drug tested welfare recipients. She talks about kids suffering, but what happens to the kid who doesn't get food because the welfare money his mommy gets on his behalf is spent on crack. Maybe giving money to druggies to spend on drugs is a bad idea miss welfare worker. You're fucking parasite as well.
Exactly. I get drug tested for my job, why shouldn't somebody recieving welfare get tested for their "non-job". The only people "targeted" by this are people who would rather spend money on drugs than food. People who honestly shouldn't be on welfare in the first place --- they should be in a rehab facility. Drug testing should honestly help in getting those individuals in to the programs that they desperately need to be in.
Yes, drug testing should be mandatory. I had to take a drug test for my job, as millions of others do, so why shouldn't they. Of course, the bleeding heart liberals will not go along with it because the want big government and to keep the welfare rolls up. If they test positive and their benefits are taken away, that's more incentive for them to get clean.
@wildwill1970 Actually some states are thinking about mandatory birth control for women receiving benefits. A great idea. If you are not on welfare you can have all the kids you want. How is that a violation of anybodys civil rights?
I work, and I have to take drug tests. If I want a paycheck, I don't get the luxury of being able to smoke weed. Why should welfare recipients get a luxury that working people don't get?
@magiccat12 My thoughts exactly. If people who work have to take drug tests, the same rule should apply to people who get welfare. This system of drug testing employees and not drug testing welfare recipients doesn't encourage people to stop living off the government and make a living, now does it? And if we can only afford to drug test one group, I'd say let's stop testing employees and start testing the other group. At least the employees who do drugs pay for their own habit.
You need a drug test to get a job, so why shouldn't you need one to get assistance.
The woman at 2:02 is basically stating that we need to ignore drug problems because if we point it out that they will lose their children and then we'll have to provide them with drug rehab. We already provide them with drug rehab on top of welfare.
They should drug test everybody who applies for Government assistance (welfare, food stamps, etc.) as a condition for receiving benefits also. Everybody who uses illegal drugs should be arrested and locked up behind bars. Plus also in addition to drug screens, they should require able bodied welfare recipients to do at least 8 hours of community service (such as cleaning up beaches) each day for five days a week.
This is a belief I've had for a long time, if your going to be able bodied, and live off of the taxpayer, for one, you should be foreced to do drug testing and two, you should lose your right to vote until you get back on your feet, that way you can't vote yourself more taxpayer money for doing nothing more than strong arming or more like WHINING to politicians
Once the Economy rebounds..

@realussoldier45 Drug addiction is a sickness so rather then deny the people that test positive for drugs benefits-the more practical solution would be to make in mandatory that they receive outpatient treatment and gradually ween them off drugs -you don't punish someone because they have a probem you get them help
curtisjones400 2 weeks ago
@curtisjones400 NOPE NO drugs at all. I know the drug background, I grew up around it and all my uncles, aunts are druggies, They get aid as well but I dont agree with that either.. If i have to stay clean and pee in a bottle to pay work and pay taxes then People on welfare should too. NO EXCEPTIONS. Get them help but dont pay them shit. and ONCE they are clean limit how long people can be on welfare..Welfare is a AID not a life time choice.
realussoldier45 2 weeks ago
@realussoldier45 Get them help and not pay them shit is not the answer either-it only makes the crime problem worst and he adds to the homeless population-recovering addicts can return the workforce i had a friend of mine who i helped get off drugs why she was recieving benefits-she found a job and got off of welfare-drug addiction is a sickness and should be treated as such

These laws are unconstitutional because it's the government testing citizens, not a company testing employees, Companies are perfectly within their rights to drug test employees at any time. According to the constitution, the government MUST have probable cause that someone is doing drugs BEFORE performing such tests. A similar law was ruled unconstitutional in Michigan and the Florida law has been blocked for the same reason.
goldenthroat86 3 months ago
@goldenthroat86 the constitution is irrelevant in todays society.. i.e. the 3rd amendment, it was created so that after the revolutionary war was over we could kick soldiers out of our houses.. its a piece of paper 224 years old and the men who wrote it had no idea what society would be like
THEStephenStanton 3 months ago
@THEStephenStanton Is the first amendment (freedom of speech, religion, press) also irrelevant in today's society? The 2nd amendment (gun rights) was created so a volunteer army could be formed quickly. Since the "men who wrote it had no idea what society would be like," it's no longer relevant. By your logic, the government needs to outlaw all guns. And forget the 4th amendment. The government should be able to search your house at any time, for no reason. It's "irrelevant in today's society."

Great idea. The kids will be better of growing up removed from a drug home and in a home where parents have a healthy work ethic. It will save money because the drug using people will be removed from the dole. I have used food stamps. Also healthy food should be covered and soap and toothpaste but not candy chips and soda pop.
wsevenbvh 5 months ago
@wsevenbvh Really. I was raised by a family with a ''healthy work ethic'' and was emotionally abused. Write to the Dept of Agriculture and tell them how you would implement not being able to pay for ''candy'' ''chips'' and ''soda'' on food stamps. So you want a nanny state that controls which foods people can purchase. Define exactly what ''candy'' ''chips'' and ''soda'' is. Which brands could you not purchase and who would make that decision? What about all the new products?

And the USA extends the amount of freedom Its citizens have. Why not test everyone in the US? If your drug free you can stay if not you get booted. And by doing that we can screen for illegal immigrants that suck up our hard working tax payers money and get rid of them.
krazyshortperson 6 months ago
Liberals are so retarded, How is this unconstitutional to drug test welfare recipients, when they allow drug testing to happen for any job you apply for. It's like saying people who are to lazy to work for them self’s don't have to be held accountable and they can just stay at home and smoke weed, on my tax dollars for the rest of their "GOD DAMN LIFE" while the rest off America works to support their drug addition. I don't give a crap if this disrupts families. It's a necessary expense.

@MaximusRelaximus Exactly. The issue at hand isn't "Should weed be legal or not". The issue this is addressing is that people are taking advantage of a system that was put in place to help those actually in need, and this new act will weed out those who abuse the system (no pun intended)

@Tommy9834 no because they need that money to survive. why go after the poor, they are just easy targets? and what ever happened to having 4th ammendment rights in america? i guess the poor doesn't deserve those rights? i'm on food stamps and i sure as hell dont wanna pee in any cup for someone. i'll do it to get a job i want but i don't agree with it. why is it ok to drug test for weed and not alcohol? i dont think this whole thing is fair, kinda on the cruel side.
renzokata 7 months ago
@renzokata Yea they need money to survive, but just cause it's needed, don't mean your entitled to someone else's money without proving your qualified at least. And no one's 4th amendment rights are being taken. No one is forced to be on welfare, you have to choose to be on welfare, and if you make that choice, it comes with requirements, one of them is you have to voluntarily wave your 4th amend rights, it's not being forced away . If you don't like it, then don't ask to be on the program.

@Tommy9834 first of all dude, i NEVER run out of ammo, so your gonna have to do something. i am already right. you agreeing doesn't change shit. time will prove that. if you can't see my point(which is above yours) then thats your problem-i'm just responding to your comments... lol soon drugs wont be illegal anymore and so will do away with drug testing too. we're still kinda in the dark ages locking innocent people in prison for it, but hey, we will evolve with time. we have. we will.
renzokata 7 months ago
@renzokata If drugs were legalized, THAT WOULD BE GREAT!! ABOUT FUCKEN TIME!!
But that's not the issue, and even if drugs were legal, we should still test them. Why?
Lets say you lost your job and asked to borrow some money to pay rent. I lend you some, but instead of buying necessities, you buy luxuries that you don't need. Pot is a luxury, whether it's legal or not. I have every right to be pissed and stop lending you money right? Same thing here. Pop positive, we stop giving you money.
Tommy9834 7 months ago
@Tommy9834 actually for a lot of people pot is a medicine and it works just great as one too. for exampe, i use pot to help control my seizures and even if you wanna use the whole "luxury" thing... thats kinda shitty to think like that too. you know the way society has things so stressful and difficult to live in it today, the least our gov could do is allow us a little escape from it. me and you are two totally different people man. i help others and give the shit off my back. just who i am
renzokata 7 months ago
@renzokata You know what else helps you relax, a day at the spa. So I guess we should now label a trip to the spa as NECESSITY now. While we're at it, enjoying a nice expensive meal also helps you relax, so does a trip to Hawaii, a Lamborghini and even Super Bowl Ticket. I guess they're all necessities too. Good thing you were here to educate me, cause I always thought the bare essentials were the only things that were necessities. Silly me.
Tommy9834 7 months ago
@Tommy9834 there you go putting words in my mouth, i clearly said weed is a medicine. everyone deserves a little happiness here and there though-HAPPINESS IS VERY IMPORTANT
renzokata 7 months ago
@renzokata I was referring to those that smoke pot to relax. If you were prescribed pot, then great, make sure you let the ones who is testing you know that.
So are you saying happiness is an entitlement? Even if it comes at the cost of others? If so, why do I have to go to school, study, go to work, get a job, etc? That sucks. I rather drive nice cars, eat expensive meals, smoke expensive drugs, and party all day. This should all be free, if happiness is an entitlement.

RImusclebear 8 months ago
@RImusclebear You can't buy drugs and alcohol with an EBT card. Its programmed on the card to pay for what the state allows. Even pre-processed foods like pre-cooked chicken aren't paid for. You are stereotyping all welfare recepients by what a few do. I have no problem with drug testing those people on welfare who are arrested for using or dealing illegal drugs or known drug users.

Florida is the first state that will require drug testing when applying for welfare (effective July 1st)! Some people are complaining that this is unconstitutional. They would rather a recipient solves their complaint outside of court.

@jfsfrnd YOU ARE TALKING OUT YOUR AZZ. The social worker will have your Medicaid file on his/her computer. They know what drugs are prescribed and what drugs are not.

And 2:01, drug test do not destroy familys, drugs destroy familys. Why would you want children in the supervision of a fuc@en drugie. Its reasons like you working for welfare QA that so many scumbags are collecting and people that have worked and now in need are rejected. Go smoke a pole.

verkpunk 9 months ago
@jfsfrnd "So drug test ALL citizens."
Everybody I know HAS been drug tested in order to get a job at one time or another. Then we have to sign an agreement allowing random drug testing at the employer's discretion. Is that unconstitutional? Drugs keep people unemployed and on welfare. People don't have a right to PAARTAY at the expense of others working their asses off every day of their lives.
mykidszgr8 8 months ago
@mykidszgr8 Private jobs are not government benefits. ''Drugs keep people unemployed'' - are you kidding me? Who do you think does drugs - only people in poverty? I have neighbors who ''PAARTAY'' all night and they work. They also keep me up all night. Most of the people receiving food stamps are children and senior citizens. Are they gonna drug test ALL EBT household members or just the person receiving the food benefit in their name?
jfsfrnd 8 months ago
@jfsfrnd I believe government workers ALL have to be tested. What exactly is your beef with people getting tested? Why NOT? Is this another class war issue? If you're not doing anything wrong then what is the big deal anyway? People who show up to work every day or night are rarely partying like your neighbors. That's not common in the real world. There are always weird cases to throw in for example.
mykidszgr8 8 months ago
@mykidszgr8 It starts here, it goes farther. Next they will want to go into your home and search around to see if you have certain things. They used to do that to welfare recipients BTW.
The ''if you are doing nothing wrong then what is the big deal'' is not a valid argument. People who show up to work every day do drugs too. You are living in a fantasy world to think that only the poor welfare and food stamp recipients do drugs. People who work every day deal drugs too.
jfsfrnd 8 months ago
@jfsfrnd
I will tell you that my money every two weeks helps those who are on assistance. Leave your fantasy world and WAKE UP!!! I promise that those who are fighting it will not win. Just like it is legal to test you for nicotine and you won't be hired if you test positve... and oh wait... that's legal!
And if it werent for those drug users who get assistance telling me straight out of their mouth what they do with the system then I MIGHT give your argument a chance!
oOkpd625Oo 8 months ago
@jfsfrnd You know as well as I do that elderly and little kids aren't the ones they are targeting. The government wants to know the healthy adults they send checks to are clean and able to better their situation. Whether that be through work or education.
mykidszgr8 8 months ago
@mykidszgr8 Yeah and employment doesn't have due process rights attached to it, but welfare and food stamps do. If you fit the eligibility criteria you have a right to have it. And no one can take it away without due process.
Then why should the elderly who get food stamps be randomly tested. The ''government'' isn't passing these drug test laws, a few, maybe 8 or 9 states are trying.
So if ''the government'' wanted something from you, you would willingly give up body fluids?
jfsfrnd 8 months ago
@mykidszgr8 Well there are some elderly people who do drugs, but the poor in general don't have the money to buy drugs. That's why this whole drug test the poor issue is so dumb.
jfsfrnd 8 months ago
@jfsfrnd
But like justice, it can be a two tier system.
mykidszgr8 8 months ago

Remind me why we don't Call America a Communist Socialist nation again please?

to the first caller who says that drug testing will punish the children: If the parent is spending $200. or more a week on drugs, then they can use that money instead to buy groceries rather than on crack or dope.

if you can afford to buy drugs, then you don't need gov't assistance.

@mykidszgr8 are you suggesting you can do what you like with your own body? ... if so i want to put "drugs" in it. just like i want to put Cake in it.
texme 8 months ago
@texme Please...it's not the same. You can eat a burger and the person making the burger isn't in organized crime or killing people to produce the burger, unlike drug dealers. Large people don't commit vehicular homicide from a burger overdose. Overweight people hurt themselves, not others. Eating doesn't keep you from getting a job or knock you out so that kids are not cared for. Of course there are the extreme cases, but doing drugs is not the same as eating too many hamburgers.
mykidszgr8 8 months ago

Diabetes, heart problems, breathing problems, depression, etc. the list goes on.
jfsfrnd 8 months ago
Respond to this video...
Well I stated the reason's that make obesity not the same as drug addiction. Higher insurance rates for obese people is the right of the insurance companies and doesn't have anything to do with drug abuse.

TOO BAD opponents because as a poorer individual myself, I believe that people should be screened before they receive public assistance.

I know a guy who just got a job drug testing people but he did not have to take a test and if he had he would have failed as he smokes weed.

Can you imagine drug free, low crime, projects and low income housing? That is what would happen if we made it mandatory to drug test anybody who received any type of government assistance, welfare, subsidized housing!

Of course the entitled should be drug tested. By accepting a handout, you expose yourself to scrutiny.

Csmith1987 1 year ago
Yeah a great idea..lets Punish and starve Children for the stupidity of adults..It will cost millions more to take care of fostering the Children in new homes for neglect, and parents will congest the courts with tax paying money to fight for their children and end up in paying rehab for them to get their kids back,I mean look at the big Picture..It will go into billions jsut cause selfist idiots want to take food out of the mouths of children..Has to be a better way.A child can see the evil of
BudPeters44 1 year ago
@BudPeters44 Its simple, if you work for a living and don't need welfare you will probably will still get drug tested at your place of employment. Not ALL companies drug test but most of them do. So what is the big deal? If the parents are using drugs do you think they are taking care of their children in the first place? I sincerely doubt it. The welfare money is going for the parents drug habits not for the kids food!
RImusclebear 1 year ago
@BudPeters44
You make no sense at all. It's obvious that getting adults to be more accountable for SOMETHING...ANYTHING....is better for kids all around.
mykidszgr8 8 months ago
The mentality that says drug testing is bad, is the reason why government welfare doesn't work, because there are no strings attached, like behavior modification. If a private organization gives you money to help you, it's not forever, and you have to do something in return. Government needs to end welfare, but drug testing will be a good start for people receiving welfare, food stamps, and gov housing. Imagine how safe the projects would be without the drug culture of violence.
JTM45100 1 year ago
Karen in Alabama would probably be out of a job if we drug tested welfare recipients. She talks about kids suffering, but what happens to the kid who doesn't get food because the welfare money his mommy gets on his behalf is spent on crack. Maybe giving money to druggies to spend on drugs is a bad idea miss welfare worker. You're fucking parasite as well.
JTM45100 1 year ago
Exactly. I get drug tested for my job, why shouldn't somebody recieving welfare get tested for their "non-job". The only people "targeted" by this are people who would rather spend money on drugs than food. People who honestly shouldn't be on welfare in the first place --- they should be in a rehab facility. Drug testing should honestly help in getting those individuals in to the programs that they desperately need to be in.
sramsay85 1 year ago
Yes, drug testing should be mandatory. I had to take a drug test for my job, as millions of others do, so why shouldn't they. Of course, the bleeding heart liberals will not go along with it because the want big government and to keep the welfare rolls up. If they test positive and their benefits are taken away, that's more incentive for them to get clean.

Thats gonna be a lot of drug testing going on in the next couple years..
How about IQ testing for new parents too go with that?
Heck, how about sterilizing those people on welfare? Or is that just taking it too far?
wildwill1970 1 year ago
@wildwill1970 Actually some states are thinking about mandatory birth control for women receiving benefits. A great idea. If you are not on welfare you can have all the kids you want. How is that a violation of anybodys civil rights?

@wildwill1970
Oh the drama.

I work, and I have to take drug tests. If I want a paycheck, I don't get the luxury of being able to smoke weed. Why should welfare recipients get a luxury that working people don't get?
magiccat12 1 year ago

We already provide them with drug rehab on top of welfare.
xiala1980 1 year ago
