Man, as a salsera I'm very familiar with just how much can be done completely unchoreographed (provided you have a good lead and follow), but seriously, this is really cool.
I second the motion that this is wonderful: It`s great WCS dancing. The reason I fell in love with this dance: The coolness and the sexyness of it. He`s a wonderful, understated and sexy dancer....he frames her beautifully. Its just great.
If you will listen to the music at that point, Tat did a free spin which Parker lead that happened to fit the music nicely. Knowing the music, she then declined Parker's offered hand so she could spin the opposite direction to a similar repeating part of the music. Very cool on Tat's part, but just as cool was Parker's immediate and simple response of going slightly away and quickly returning thus allowing her to do her thing. One of those really neat moments on the dance floor.
OK. After a few more viewings I can see that Mollman performed a choreographed tease of Dearborn when she ignored his hand. I guess the ladies in the audience get a kick out of that stuff. I love seeing a routine like this in well lit room. Dancers are nicely dressed but not in costume. With these two it is obviously all about the dance.
Well, it's not choreographed- at a jack & jill you don't even know who you're dancing with until your partner's name is drawn from a hat (that's often how it works at Parker & Tatiana's level), and then you just go out there and dance to whatever song they put on.
What I particularly like about Dearborn's style is how he focuses on his partner, the music and the dancefloor. Not the crowd. He is an extremely generous leader and he has a beautiful follower in Mollman who dazzles within the context of the steps he leads. The segment where he offers his hand to her and she fails to take is ambiguous.-a miscue or is she acting? I lack the bandwidth to keep up with Dearborn's footwork during Gatton's thrilling doublestop solo.
A great west coast swing interpretation of a great Danny Gatton instumental. Unlike some routines I have seen here this is very recognizable as West Coast Swing. No acting or gymnastics, just hardcore WCS. Nicely photgraphed medium distance works.
Tatiana rules without making Parker look bad. She has everything you could possibly ask for in a follower. Kudos to Parker for "getting" her!

I like the Jack and Jill she does with Jordan (to the same song) better. Do a search for madjam2007 + tatiana + jordan

I stand corrected. My point was that it was intentional.
