  • hi

  • besides this, your videos are gold for me. i'm learning statics for the first time in university and what was said before: you can understand 2 hours of teaching in 5 minutes of youtube! keep up the good work!

  • you said that Ex is positive 2000 and that your guess is correct. but in your drawing, the arrow goes to the left of x, so it's negative. besides, you draw the little arrow behind the 2000 to the left. so you have a positive number, you also say it's positive, but the 2 arrows indicate a negative x force. is this a mistake or am i missing something?

    thanks

  • @aolex

No that wasn't a mistake. If you get a positive answer for Ex, that means the guess was correct, therefore Ex does go to the left. If I got a negative for Ex, then my guess would have been wrong and Ex would be in the oppsite direction I assumed.

    I hope that helps!

  • I learned more in this 4 min video that my 2 hours class. Thanks a lot

  • this example was so helpful. Thank you!

  • thanks for this

  • At point E, how did he know that there's no Ey ?

  • nice, i wonder if you can do an example with a force acting at the top but with an angle.

  • E is a rocker so it can only generate Ex.

  • sigma Fy=-500-1000+Cy+Ey

There is an upward reaction on pin E

  • I'm not too sure about that, I can't tell if E is a hinge or roller.
