  • Nice video. Where are the others? Nothing since 2007?

  • @bqdavis1

Thanks! I am just about to do a series on photoshop. Teaches you easy useful can't fail uses. Will go from 1 to as many as it takes to make you profficient and able to be truly creative and have fun. Also working on more design projects which will be up shortly.

  • This is best !! Thanks so much for showing how easy it is.

  • Just brilliant!!

  • LOVE YOU SWEETIE! This vid addressed all i needed to know about reusing all my old candle wax! Thanks amillion! Much love from Texas!!! Oh yeah, and that ring you have on is to die for!!

  • I love candles and now have lots of spare candle wax, which I want to recycle. Thanks for showing me how, only thing I would add, is the sound is a bit echoey :-(

  • She spent all that time making the candle and then imideitly burned it!!!!! Wow!

  • I love candles! unfortuantly i am not allowed to light them in my room but i bought 12 french vanilla tea lights and sad them aroung my desk mirror and it smells really nice...i dont have any old candles but i will go straight to poundland and buy some large pale candles and some glass vases...thank you! How do i get the string to stay straight...do i dip it in the wax?x

  • i really like this video it looks simple to other ones i have looked at

what if you want to add like 100% peppermint oil you get from aromatherapy shop

to give it the scent ?

  • I have the largest candle school in europe and I would just like to say great video

  • Being a candle maker for many years now be extremely careful if you are melting a candle with direct heat as opposed to double boiler or electric melter, candle wax is (duh) highly flammable over certain temps...just thought i'd throw this in for reasons of safety...good video! :)

  • just wandering f I can put wax in fridge\freezer to speed things up?

  • why spend money on string? I have made perfect wicks out of restaurant napkins.

  • What type of string could/should i use?

does it have to be a pre made candle wick?

  • @Jayywollam Hi,

No as I say in the vid ..........any old household string should work. Look at it again and you will see. T

  • Fantastic! I am looking forward to trying this. You make it look so easy ; )

  • wow! this video is amazing! it really helps me save money on my candle business, and it can be a gift too! this video isdefinitely going to my favorites!

  • Lindo!!! y facil!!!!!!!! Gracias!!!!

  • Hi I was just wondering if butchers twine would be ok..?

And can I use it the way it is without soaking it in something..?

Thank you your video has been so helpful..

  • @Jessupton4 Hi there, I am not entirely sure what Butchers twine is? Most string works fine. I don't bother to soak mine but the best thing to do is try it. Hope that helps, as I said mine method was just trial and error until I found something that worked. Good luck! T

  • I know that some people do soak them in the melted wax, but I am not sure whether this is necessary. I think Martha Stewart advocates doing this. I am no expert I simply came up with something that worked for me. You might want to google this and see what other people have to say. Good luck!

  • I have cotton, lead free wicks, do I need to soak them in the melted wax at all?

  • So where wicks are concerned, butcher's twine would do? I searched candle wicks just to see if I could make them at home and some recommended I let them soak in special solutions for a day or so and then dip them in wax. I'm guessing that's not necessary since you use ordinary butcher's twine, but I wanted to know how the wick burns with your recycled candles.

  • @Origamio Hi there! Nope it seems to work just fine! As I said I am just a try it and see, but I have to say no probs whatsoever! Good luck!

  • Great Video, the best I have seen and easy. I am trying this soon, I am excited!

  • @hunydipp81 So glad. Good Luck! Its fun!

  • WOW OH MY GOSH!!!! I LOVE IT. I was surprised that you layed it down when you put it in cold water. Why did you do that?

  • how do you make a candle dildo??

  • good job.

i discovered most of this on my own but didn't know a plain old string could be used as a wick. i've been using store bought wick.

  • wow thanks that is such a easy way of doing it so i think i might try it out

  • Great way to use old candles, little concerned about the safety aspect of melting the wax (ie flashpoint)

  • Best candle vid I've seen on here! Absolutely brilliant and just what I was looking for, easy as! Thanks so much!

  • @Bramble1976 Thanks so much!! Glad you enjoyed. That was the intention - to give people info that they could use easily and effectively and have fun with as well as recycle and save some cash! Good luck!

  • Wouldn't washers work better? That way you're not wasting pennies... just a thought.

  • @DansGurlsOfEngland4 Yes they would be great......its based on whatever you have lying around so if you happen to have washers handy great. The idea is to not have to go and get a specific item, just use what you have handy!

  • Very nice job your so inspiring

  • @kcatromero Thanks so much!!

  • Thank you for the close ups and simplicity.

  • Nice job.

  • wow.. very kool. i think its cost effective tooo. very clever

  • is it neccesary to use spray? or can you use regular olive oil?

also can you substitute the candlke wick with another rope-like substance?

    thxs in advance :)

  • @mauritiusrules101

HI you can use any type of string that you like. I have tried many different types and they all seem to work great. I have only used olive oil spray as I developed this method by trial and error. I imagine any spray oil would work.

  • @tinatenby thx u :) i hope you make more videos, your candle making one was very helpful and i would love some more vids displaying your talents :)

  • @mauritiusrules101 Thanks so much...yes thinking of putting some more up but more in line with re vamping wardrobes as I am a fashion designer by trade! Txx

  • QUESTION how do you wash the thing where you melted wax????

  • @77Polina Hi as I explained once you have used an old saucepan to melt the wax it is not much good for anything else. You can however try washing detergent once you have drained as much as possible. It works for cleaning whatever you use as a mold.

  • @77Polina

As I mentioned in the video you can use regular washing up liquid to clean the wax off! Good luck

  • why cant you leave the candle in the glass, i do the same ting in recycling candles, only i use a lamp wick cut very fine, it is alot of fun

  • @brawyn777 Of course you can do that if you wish. I explain that nearer the end of the video

  • could you please write down the 2 last things we need because I did not understand what you said at 2:02 and at 2;20 it's not that you don't explain well just my English isn't that good : (... but I would very much like to make candles with cheap material . thanks

  • hell ya. i didnt know it was that easy!!! i love recycling! and its great to know incase of a long emergancy!

  • hi Tina love you vid, im about to try making candles i was wondering can i use food coloring and is essential oil OK to use for scent

  • it is amazing thanks for the tips

  • This video inspired me to begin making my own candles. That was six months ago! Now I am making soy candles - who would have know I became so in love with it. This was the first candle making video I saw and I still enjoy watching it. And I only use cooking spray now when making molded paraffin candles or palm wax ones. It saves money! Blessings to you!

  • @LilithPersonified Hey Thanks! So glad that it inspired you to start something that you obviously get a lot of pleasure from! Thanks for the kind words! Tina x

  • i cant watch this its to boring and too slow

  • Comment removed

  • @99sbc Yep you sound too bring and too slow too........!!

  • Wow. I never would have thought about the pennies idea. Use a penny, save a penny. Amazing!

What kind of string are you using, twine?

  • 1.cooking spray does nothing 2.you dont have to put it in cold water if it is not coming out stick it in the freezer for 5 min. try to avoid it tho it will make the wax brittle

  • Just a thought : It might be easier to tie a slip knot, like the one used in crocheting, to tighten the wick, just as the yarn tightens on a crochet hook, with a little tug, the wick would do the same on the skewer.

  • @Oreocremerocks Yes good point!

  • omg thank you so much i know what to make mom the next holiday...haha :)

  • @LadykVideos Thanks, glad you found it useful!

  • can i use the really thin string that we use for sewing?

    if not which one?

  • @criptanizer No that is thread. That is too thin. You need refular household string.

    Good luck. Txxxx

  • great tutorial, very helpful, thankyou...

  • Thanks so much. Been on ebay looking for a mold and now I don't need one. I love the idea of oiling whatever you have handy.

  • thanks soooooooooooooooooooo much it really helps

  • Good job with this. Clever recycling old wax, which is relatively easy to pick up in thrift shops. Glad you mentioned the bit about the mouth of the mold needing to be the widest point. Regarding the wick, Martha Steward suggested dipping the string in the melting wax to make it taut and therefore easier to stand up.

    Thanks for the lesson.

  • why dont u just go to walmart and buy one for 50p?

  • @wildcatz171 I think you are missing the point....also different qualities of wax and how it burns make different qualities of candles....if you happy with a 50c one from Walmart good enough for you.

  • nice.., thanks a lot.., :)

  • someones at the door!!!!

  • well that`s worth knowing.... :)

  • I would have thought the string would smoke? Isn`t proper wick a special blend or something? I`m definitely getting into doing this though, another excuse to be creative :)

  • No it works just fine!!

  • great ideas thanks alot !!!!

  • Hey this is amazing. But I don't have the oil spray. What do I do?? Thought of lining the cup with a polythene bag but not sure... my wax is melting so I'll try different methods and let you know. :) 5/5 great vid thanks

  • Hi Jake. It may work without spray. You could also just get a paper towell with some oil on and rub it inside. Any oil. Good luck!

  • Hiya, I did what you said but with a paintbrush. I now have about 20 of the most amazing candles ever! Thanks for your help :)

  • i did the same way u did , i melted a used candle i had but at the end after it cooled down there was that big hole in the middle

    why is that

also there were bubbles inside although i did pour it really slowly to prevent that

    and thanks for that vid

    very informative love it :)

  • you have to pour wax in a quarter at a time, each after the first has cooled but not hardened- the hole is normal, save a small amount for the very end to fill in the hole. let the whole over fill to create a top layer. this will keep the hole from reforming. so when you set your wick, from the beginning, make sure its extra long (long enough to wrap around finger above the top of candle holder. also try heating wax in an old soup can, inside a pot of boiling water so wax never boils

  • Saved this to my favorites and will be sharing it with all our friends.

  • just use parchmet paper easier

  • thank you ssssssooooooo much i looked all over but i couldnt find anything but this helped alot!

  • Thank you so very much!!!

  • ... sorry "Great" : )

  • Greta! Just what I was looking for. Best and simplest at home how to on candles I've seen. thanks Tina : )

  • thats the best candle making method I've found!

  • wow. thats realllly cool. did you say you shouldnt use the pot again?

  • that's a great idea, thank you

  • Awesome! So easy, thank you!

  • OMG! Thank you soooo much. I'm an environmentalist and this is definitely one of the ways to save our landfills.

  • YOU ARE AMAZING!, THIS HELP SO MUCH!

  • Thats awsome! All the videos on candle making have been saying that u have to go out and buy wax, this saved me so much money and time looking for wax in stores thx so much!

  • this is such an amazing idea thank now i am going to serch for some old candles

  • that's a great idea, thank you, how can you add scents to the candle?

  • COMPLIMENTS TO THAT VERY SMART LADY, thank you madame; your vidio was very helpful to me!

  • wows this is soo cute and easy i worshop this vid girly

  • Thanks larnielooloos. I think he just had too much time on his hands, and was mean spiritied. Glad you like the simple message.

  • this is amazing,thanks!

  • thank you sooo much! i just got my candle that i made this way and its perfect!

  • Hi Mehetlll

Some people have said the cooking spray does not do anything. I have not tried it without the spray, so I am not sure that this is true. I would imagine cooking spray would not affect the scent too much. My method was trial and error so you will just have to try it out?good luck!

  • Thank you for the tutorial. I have a home business and will start working with candles to enhance my product base. Could I spray cooking oil inside if a metal mold before pouring the wax? Will the olive oil affect the scent? Thanks for your help:)

  • Thanks, but no it was made from another orange one.

  • Very simplified! thank you. If that candle was made from the old red one, it is interesting that the end candle was some shades lighter, a very nice colour.

  • I think it is different wax. You may be able to use the crayons as a colouring agent, but to be honest I have never tried. I wouldn't recommend using them as a candle as I think it is much softer wax, and probably has a different melting temperature. Good luck.....you must have a few old candles lying around?

  • do you think this wld work with wax crayons rather then old candles?

  • I dont understand why there is no good candle making tutorials on youtube. I want a very detailed canlde making tutorial. With tempatures, diff typed of wax, explaining everything.

  • Don't complain to me there are plenty of those on you tube.....open your eyes craigdirty? strange name.....dirty....? You are not my demographic......go complain elsewhere! Not what I need to hear. I am here to help the people that don't want to spend their life learning all that boring stuff!

  • yeah! this video is as basic as it goes but i love it moto is: reduce reuse recycle using objects at home! why would he make such a comment on this type of video. its about homemade happily made candles keeping costs as low as possible!!!

  • Easiest, most succinct, least scary advice available. Thanks!

  • i made a candle but the very LONG way

  • Thanks for the information!

  • Most seem to make it complicated but you make it easy. Nice work. I've had some supplies in my closet for about 15 years.. I may put them out and give it a try.

  • Great information, looking to make candles for my business here in the U.K

  • Good luck with the business.

  • Thank you, a really good video you made

  • amazing video. Thanx a lot for posting it.

  • this is jack

  • What creativity!! Thank you!

  • um... what the point of melting a candle into another candle?

  • you obviously missed the point......duh...!

  • crispocream: Cuz after you burn them for a long time they get deformed and look ulgy, you can but 1 candel and keep making candels from that wax once it burns, rather then throwing them out, so you are also saving a lot of money.

  • Thanks alot!!! May God Bless you. I wanted to know how to add perfume in the candle? Do i add perfume oil in the hot wax?

  • I have not tried adding perfume, since many of the candles I recycle are already perfumed so I cannot tell you as I have not tried that. My method came about by trial and effort. I would try just adding perfumed oil in one and see how the results are. Glad you found it useful. Good luck with your efforts.

    Tina

  • guardate martha stewart
