  • You are so adorable :D i wish verbal interaction could have so much facial expression involved.I read somewhere you are post-lingually deaf,do you still speak??

  • I loved "H" <3

  • Great video! You should include an audio voiceover for your videos to help people new to ASL understand better!

  • ILY

  • @adventurerrific LOL. Ummm... thanks.

  • Are your signs for "H," "K," and "Q" specific signs? I don't recognize them, but they look more like actual vocab words than the other letters, which mostly look like classifiers.

  • @raen714 When doing an ABC story, the letters will often be actual signs or a slightly modified sign (to fit the letter). They can also be classifiers or slightly modified classifiers. (Classifiers are "descriptive handshapes" for those who don't know what that term means.)

  • I don't know ASL but just through your expression I could understand the jist of the story!! thanks!!!

  • @vulcannut99 That's one of the beauties of story-telling in ASL. Expressions are actually a required part of the language and master story-tellers are ones that are so good that they can literally tell a story just from their expressions. Glad you like it. *smile*

  • that was pretty fantastic! i wish i could be that creative lol

  • @MelanieAlexandria Thanks! That's kind of you. *smile* Doing an ABC story isn't that difficult, just takes a bit of persistence to think your way through it.

  • Theres no Goddamn sound! I don't know what you're saying!

  • @TheRussianCommando Bummer huh? I guess it's time to learn the ASL alphabet. *grin*

  • @TheRussianCommando It's in ASL you jackass if you don"t understand it link to a different video

  • @mimegirl412 Honey it was sarcasm, get with the program. It's obvious you understand ASL, but I guess sarcasm is too much to comprehend.

  • Super cool :D

  • @momogirl64 Glad you like it!

  • fantastic ABC story !!!!!

  • @vg226 Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • And the W also.

  • What is the H and K used for? I'm a beginner and don't really know what they stand for. :/

  • @havochannah Take a look at it for a minute and tell me what you each of them might be.

  • '

wow very good sign language from A to Z,,,

how about backward from Z to A,,,

    just wonder

  • @bestamerica Glad you like. *smile* From Z to A huh? Interesting. Although traditionally it goes from A to Z I'm sure some might think that a fun challenge.

  • I loved this! well done!

  • @combustication07 Thanks! Glad you liked it!

  • This is cool! I've always had a hard time trying to find something for "M". . . I might use what you did!

    Very cool story :)

  • @CodacMoments Glad you enjoyed it. Lots of possible uses for "M." Just have to give it some thought. *grin*

  • you can coin your own. tell all your friends and maybe people will use it.

  • @TheLittlegreenbox Mmmmm. It's not a good idea for an ASL student to invent signs and then try to pass it off as a sign for everyone else to use. The better thing to do is ask what native signers use and then to follow that. (Which is what he did.)

  • @BYUFanatic i can understand that completely. however let me give you and example out side of ASL, my parents are orinaginaly from India, now the Indian langauge's (Hindi) vocab is much longer then the english language will ever be. Thus we find words in Hindi that dont have a english word. so my parents started to bridge words together with part Indian and part english. and started to usethem in day to day life normaly.I would give you and example or two however this comment will not allow me.

  • @TheLittlegreenbox There's a term for this. It's called "pidgin." However, one person's form of pidgin is not the same as another person's, and so on. Especially since, by using pidgin, you are combining and/or ignoring standard grammar rules. It's better to pick one language or another and learn that, rather than by creating a hodge-podge of two languages.

  • Is there a sign for the word "checkmate" or do we have to fingerspell it? (like you did at the beginning of the video)

    Thank you.

  • @Chevalier765 Unfortunately I'm not aware of a sign for "checkmate." I asked my friend who's a chess fanatic and he told me all he does is fingerspell "mate." There may be a sign, but it's not a common one.

  • @BYUFanatic Thank you very much

  • I found this video while doing an assignment on 'ABC' stories for my ASL class and I really enjoyed it. I was surprised that I understood what was going on the whole time, though. I also grew up playing chess so it was cool to watch a story about something so nostalgic for me.

  • @OtherHanded Easy story to follow isn't it? *smile* It was very easy to create as well. The story literally fell into place with little effort on my part. It's not often that an ABC story comes together that easily.

  • i completly understanded the whole situation with your vids!!!

  • @TheSmilingRedApples Thanks! Glad you enjoy them.

  • Good stuff! I love chess as a subject for an asl story. Very clever!

  • Thanks. This story was incredibly easy to put together. It almost literally fell into place by itself. Most good ABC stories take a little thought and planning (at least for me) but I put this one together in about 5 min I think.

  • Awesome story. I love chess and sign language. Great to see them combined like that; never would have thought of it myself. Thanks for sharing.

  • Glad you enjoyed watching it. I enjoyed making it. *smile*

  • This was adorable, I just started talking ASL and I love it!! I get lost in all the signs though, so I can't concentrate on the story..

  • Glad you like the story. *smile* Not to worry about getting lost. Watch it a few times and it should start coming together for you.

  • Nicely done. I have to do an ABC story as the midterm for my ASL class, and they're a lot harder to come up than you'd think!

  • Oooh. Good luck on your ABC story! Here's a tip for you - make a list of everything you can think of relating to your topic, then try to match them up with ABC's, then put it together in a story format. That'll make it MUCH easier! Good luck!

  • Thanks for the advice. I had already come up with my ABC story before you posted it, but it'll be a great tip for others.

By the way, I got a 100% on my story, so my teacher liked it (she's Deaf). Maybe I'll post it to YouTube some time.

  • I have to do one in my sign class too. I have been pondering so so so long on what to do...They are so hard to come up with. Good luck :)

  • That was adorrible! Think i missed "R" though.. *rewatching*

  • Glad you liked it! *smile* Did you catch the "R"?

  • That was great! I love abc stories, and this one was awesome. well done!

  • this is a great story! It inspired me to make one about monopoly! :D

  • Hey Chelsea! Glad you liked it. I'd love to see your monopoly story.

  • Very well done! A friend of mine just did an ABC story that included vomiting (O handshape). Yours is quite different from that. : )

  • hahaha, cute.

  • Wow, good job! I love ABC stories, but I'm terrible at making them up myself.

  • Amazing, my fav!!!!

  • Very good !

  • Cute! =]

  • Haha, that was great!! :)

  • Glad ya liked it. Now, YOUR turn to make one! *grin*

  • yeah go nuts
