  • Great clip. I use this method also when handing out food to dog(s). Sometimes I have dog guests in my home that bolt out the door or go beserk when the food bowl arrives. If just don't respond to that behaviour and just wait till they are calm or whatever you want them to do, it's amazing how quick they change.

  • I noticed alot of people are asking why you shouldnt say stay over wait. Stay and wait are two completely different commands. Stay says i dont want you moving. Wait says you can move but only when i say

  • Thank you

  • why shouldnt u use the command "stay"?

  • Whould you recommend doggie doors? I just think that you have to worry about other animals getting in the house.

  • @Maincodeman ive been looking into electronic dog doors. it uses a magnetic to allow the pet to pass through.

  • i need to teach my dog this.It will only take my old dog 30 seconds.

  • @SuperUnlawful I was wrong.It only took 15 seconds.Damn my dogs smart!

  • @eletendre1 how can i get it to wait me when i go to buy something in a store?

  • What if you have a sliding door?

  • @davidelij your poodle would pick it up real fast. They are suppose to be the smartest breed around. I have a xpoodle and he learnt it fast though he's still a puppy so he whines in excitement when he's waiting!!

  • its will be easy with a german shepherd....i have a siberian husky....im gona have a tough time

  • Cool, will do this first thing I take him out. He already knows the word "Wait"

  • why is better to say wait than stay?

  • your amazing well done

  • Does this work for any dog? Like i have a poodle and its a small poodle.

  • Does this work for any dog? like i have a young poodle very small like a puppy.

  • I know this is ridiculous but I can't understand the email he keeps saying and its not in the description... It's hard to hear it... don't know why... anyone understand what he's saying for the email address?

  • hello amazing dog trainer man:D

thank you for posting relevant dog training tricks for me to teach me soon to be puppy !:D greatly appreciated

whens the best age to start teaching the new dog when i first get him or something ?

    thank you

  • I love your videos!! Helped so much over the past few weeks. I've even seen some of Ian Dunbar's who you've mentioned as well. Both fabulous!!! Been sending to my friend as she's had problems with her dog but pretty sure that will soon be in the past with your wonderful help!!!

  • Not long got a 5month old great dane. Your vids are helping no end! absolute pro!

  • These are helping me out with my German Shepherd, he learns really quick, he is a smart dog! :)

  • I need your help, my dog is so aggressive to people, everyone even kids, I don't have control over him no matter what i do or say to him. but when i am at home he is such an angle, he listens, he is just so sweet like a different dog. please help

    thanks

  • If he is very aggressive you may need to seek out a dog behavior trainer. I have no experience with this sorry

  • thanks for ur videos, you are very good at what you are doing, and you are very good to teach other people including me about training dogs.

    Thanks alot

  • my brother's older puppy is hard headed. so i had to open the door and block it until he sits down.

  • That was the cutest thing I've seen in a long time! Thank you for sharing this! I will be trying this with my puppy

  • Cavolo, intelligente!!! Ma va a ca...

  • I did this also :). However i do have one issue..

My garden has plenty of holes in it to get through and start running on fields chasing rabbits etc.

But that wasn't really an issue, the issue is someway my dog has taught himself to open the door lol. But he only opens it when im not there, and i've caught him doing it once when i was. If the door is locked, he'd jump to hit and turn the unlock with his paw, then jump to pull down the handle and open.. Smart dog i guess, but still worrys me :b

  • Lol, that dog was like YES..aww no...YES!..ah no...yes? YEAHHH!!! lmao

  • @SheSoTalented216 what have you been smoking..? lol

  • how do you teach that to a JRT he wont understand what wait is..........

  • Place your dog on a lead to prevent any rushes. Simply bring the dog back in and start the process again if the dog rushes out.

  • This is a command you MUST teach your dog. It shows him that you are dominant because you control access to the world. He will respect you more.

  • I just did it it works

  • This is a great tip, it`s so easy and my dog learned it super-quickly:)

  • wow! Thanks!! great tips! can we also use this for making the dog wait before the car door opens? Thanks

  • Wow ! This could actually work. I never thought I could learn my Bichon Frise to stay inside while someone comes in our house. You are really a Amazing Dog Training Man ! Thanks so much !

  • Yup, I think he's great too.

  • WOW!!..I trained my dog with the video tips you supplied, I must say..YOU ARE TRULY AN AMAZING DOG TRAINING MAN!!

    Thank You.. ;)

  • One thing to Remember is this...

A Door is what a Dog is...

Perpetually on the worng side of.

  • Ive just done this with my rottweiler and staff mix and cant believe how quick they learnt. Im amazed. My rottie is 14 mths and my staff mix is nearly 6 mths. and running out the door as soon as it was opened is one thing i was having trouble stopping. I practiced wiv them each separatly untill the didnt run out then tried together. and was pretty impressed that neither decided to dart out and only went when i said OK. There was even a distraction with a neighbours cat and still they stayed.

  • thanks for all your videos. They have been very helpful in training our puppy.

  • You are the most informative dog trainer I could find... thank you for your services.

  • Thanks

  • wat if u open the door and someone is walkin their dog by ur house and ur dog doesnt wait and bolts out the door straight towards the other dog?

  • Before that happens I suppose you could control socializing with other dogs like how you'd do so going out doorways. I could see how that same kind of psychology could work in your case if it could with StL87's husky entering water.

  • man thx for all, i will try this whit my poodel, hi is learning fast with all this videos , nice work 10/10.

  • You Are A Genius.

  • Thank You!

  • @warrior78912 i was seriously about to write this XD

  • I started doing this with my German Shepherd. It's only been a couple of days and now when he sees me heading to the door, he lie's down next to it and waits until I release him.

Very effective technique and is done with a tool that everyone already has.

  • dammmm Why I didn't do that in the first place. I use to do that for the water but not for the door and he is a hard head dog... husky anyway thank a lot

  • I gotta say, your videos are truly great, man. You're really helping me out with my golden retriever puppy!

    Keep up the awesome work!

  • I have a 9 month old black lab/ Golden retriever mix. I have tried a few of your training methods but I can't hold his attention. I tried "stay" and made him sit. Then I put a treat down but he didn't want the treat. Then I tried "wait" and normally he bolts out the door so I told him to wait and opened the door and he tried to go out so I made a sound and shut it. Then I tried again but the second time he just looked and watched me and then he walked away. Is this normal?

  • man i cant wait to try this and ill let you no how it woked for me but my dog usually listens to the wait comand as it is so i hop it will make him more responsive to wait but do u have any tricks for stay he wont listen to that at all

  • OMG THX

  • Eric, I just have to say, "wow." This is one of the most simple commands I've tried to train. I'm new to training and have started with a 9 year old 50 lb. Canaan/Foxhound mix. "Wait" was easy, and fast!! (not to mention the utility uses of the command) He's learning this with his crate and the door we use for "outside." Combined with a leash (because my back door swings outward) the results were immediate! He no longer bolts out the door or his crate (after less then a week of repetition).

  • Sorry... That's 9 months old... not years LOL.... Where did THAT come from!! :)

  • Great I live in the country but I have a very busy road in front of my house and always worry about the dogs running out the door and into the street.I'll try this first thing in the mourning.

  • whats his email agian ?

  • by any chance could you do a video about pomeranians?

  • good info, hard to find a video without a clicker or somn, voice and body posture is what the dog is responding to..meaning the dog is responding to YOU not a clicker. thanks

  • Your welcome.

  • DAMN! THANKS!

  • Your Welcome!

  • really thanks

  • Your welcome.

  • Your welcome.

  • good

  • my dog runs out the door even though i taught him to wait. what do i do?? by the way awesome video, helps a whole bunch! :)

  • my experience is that dogs have their own personalities kinda like people as well, some are harder some are simple to train, its just patience, mine tends to pick on its favourite person :-P my fiance takes a few hours to train a command while I take longer on the same actions.

  • Hi mate, thanks a lot for the video!

My problem it's that I have 2 dogs at home, one small and another medium size, should I train them together or separately.

Does this by any way make the dogs feel uncomfortable or unhappy?

    thanks a lot!

  • Hi Mate,

Thanks for your question. I always start training seperately. It is very difficult to control two dogs at once. As far as them being unhappy they often don't like being seperated once they have developed a bond, but as I stated earlier, it is much easier to train one at a time. Good luck!

    Eric

  • Excellent!! Thanks.

  • thanks a lot! I'm going to try it right now!! :D

  • we are adopting rescue dog who has a problem with one running if let out of the house and has problems with aggression towards kids and barking excessively if locked in a room. so im going to be working with her. i love your videos and will deffinetly be using some of your tricks. im looking at clickers as well

  • Glad you love the videos. Good luck with your new pup.

  • Perfect example of reward-based training!
