This game can actually be challenging for a Real Time speed run. One hit and you lose the most important power up for speed running.

You may have noticed that SDA timing stops at around 41:55 (on the Youtube timer) and not ~42:34. This isn't an error because the Super Game Boy (SGB) runs a bit faster than the actual handheld and Game Boy Player.

So SDA multiplys the runs done on SGB by 1.024115 to get a good estimate on what the actual time should be.
