  • I have this computer and hate that it doesnt have a cd driver. There isn't a lot of room to download or upload. It's great for quick searches, writing, and other things but definitely wouldnt have invested had I seen this video sooner:(

  • Does it have a built in mircophone?

  • does that have bluetooth ?¿?¿?¿?

  • this is shittt imac 27 wayy better

  • @TheiPadFan well yeah no crap. its not even close to the same thing u_u

  • what has lenovo done to IBM is horrific. what is this compter? white, widescreen, childish-toy looking. really looks like a toy. shure there are still thinkpads around but they just aren't anywhere near the quality of IBM and they have widescreen. if IBM still owned the hardware part none of this wouldn't happen for shure. IBM please come back!!!

  • @simon1234simon this is a netbook...not a thinkpad laptop.

  • @manbearwolflion lol its actually just called a ideapad, I own it :P bought it 3 years ago.

  • Does anyone know where i can buy this in Canada??

  • that netbook is shit

acer aspire one is much better than tht crap

    thnx acer :)

  • @kevolloqui

You are funny, have you ever owned a lenovo?

  • for some reason, i want it!

  • without TrackPoint it never cant be so great like real IBM ThinkPads!! :-/ IBM rulezZzZzZzZ

  • wow. this computer is a dinosaur.

  • @lizzyclark1

    and a tank(sort of)

  • @C-choy9, shame? speaking the truth is shameful in this country? And learn to complete your thought so people can understand you.

  • @C-choy9, shame? speaking the truth is shameful in this country?

  • LENOVO is the worst company around. sent me a defective S10, refuse to offer a refund, rude customer service from India, idiot credits department that sent my account to collections in July 2010 when they had received my return on 1/22/10. Took more calls to idiots in India, several emails an calls to clear the whole thing up. It was a nightmare. STAY AWAY FROM LENOVO.

  • @feilong888 shame

  • @feilong888

You must have something wrong, lenovo would never do that...

  • '

what country make this computer laptop

  • @bestamerica

    Lenovo is IBM,

  • eastofakron1,

    '

    okay thank,,,

    IBM make it,,,

american make it computer laptop or asia

  • I have one of these, it gets the job done however I would trade it anyday for something bigger or more powerful like a Dell or some kind of MacBook (except the macbook air), but I suppose the fact that it's not as good as it was would be my fault as I've somewhat wrecked over the years and installed different OSs like Ubuntu Linux. However, if you're a student and you need something portable it's a yes and no as it's quick in many ways, but in the area of office programs it fails.

  • can it take discks??

  • @alien92able no

  • @alien92able

    haha it depends waht size...

  • the charger is big because some computers have them built in so it has a smaller charger but i proffer to have a smaller laptop

  • so this is a NO NO for my business??? Am looking at one for 399$ to replace my shitty current laptop with the bad memory and motherboard. I also travel alot. but 1 gig????? slow???? my PC has 4 and current POS IBM thinkpad has 2.

  • S10 is very very very hard to get brand new..... they still have S10e and the shitty !S10-2 lol

  • buy g550

very good netbook cheap price and not so big

  • i have this laptop and it has windows 7

  • I have the same. Do you think that win 7 is faster than xp on this laptop?

  • Lenovo sucks

    its crap

it was so much better in old days with IBM

why do i say this? well i had lenovo 4 times and there all got broken so i will not buy lenovo more.

    Olivetti Rules!

  • lol 4 times..

  • fucking idiot lenovo are IBM they still own them and share the same built quality.

    you fucking idiot lol

  • Comment removed

  • The IBM PC dvision was sold to Lenovo in 2005 you idiot hehe

  • and the contract ends soon so it goes back to them unless they re-buy

    your the idiot n00b sign...

  • have this laptop...

  • An Acer Aspire One is better then this one :D

  • @redtwist01 What makes you say that?

  • i miss mine sooo much :'( i had to sell it for a car

  • damn, sell your car for the s12 !

  • i wouldn't mind, my car is a piece of S&%T!

  • lol all year 9 students get that 2 free

  • Do your research if your looking for this type of computer this is a waste. Do the research and you can find one with a few more options for about 150+ less

  • Netbooks should not use windows period.

  • What would they use? Pain in the ass Linux?

These OS ought to make computing for normal people easier right? Well Windows perfectly fits that definition. Linux perfectly otherwise.

  • Its obvious that you have never tried Ubuntu. Its dead simple. As an added bonus its immune to all the crap that "normal users" usually get infected with using windows.

  • I have ubuntu on my 2 lappy's. And I work with computers for a living.

Ubuntu? Immnune? o_O You obviously are ignorant and don't have any idea about anything relevant.

If you prefer security and hassles over convenience and ease of use... go ahead with your linux... I'd go with something that makes everything a BREEZE for me... WTG Windows! :-)

  • Immune is techinically a overstatement. In practice its close enough as almost all malware targets windows for obvious reasons.

I also find windows _a lot_ more inconvenient. Even more so on a laptop.

  • You got any antivirus or firewall on Ubuntu? I heard that it is not necessary to install anything like that...

  • @qwasdninja Yes indeed, last ubuntu is easy like windows7 even easyer and it even run windows applications with whine, however i switched back to windows becose its faster and it has no bug (yeah now finaly in 2010)

  • @qwasdninja I have, I had Ubuntu 9.04 for 5 months roughly, until i torrented Windows 7 Ultimate, the simplest of tasks are made so difficult for Linux, it's a right pain in the arse. installing tar.gz isn't "dead simple" it doesn't run shockwave which is very common..

Also my Mobile intel 965 Express chip family GFX card can hardly support the basic graphics setting, let alone the advanced wavy one.

and in Windows 7, i set for best appearance, Aero on, works like a charm.

  • @Lemonaderz What "simplest tasks" are made difficult?

"installing tar.gz" - You cant install a tar.gz. Unpacking it, however, is very simple. Not playing/running shockwave is just riddiculus, any browser manages that regardless of platform.

"Also my Mobile intel 965 Express chip family GFX card can hardly support the basic graphics setting, let alone the advanced wavy one." - Couldnt agree more, hardware support sucks from time to time for various reasons.

  • @qwasdninja Yea, it plays up often, I like to watch alot of videos, I tend to watch them using flash within browsers

1 flash movie at a time is my limit, I've tried watching youtube videos while having a Movie buffering on pause.. I get very slow response when switching windows etc even scrolling down the page is painful

You just need alot of patience for linux, I've read alot of people complaining about no shockwave support, very annoying when you're stuck with it for nearly half a year XD

  • @Lemonaderz Flash performance pretty much sucks in ubuntu (im not sure about other distros) but the ability to have more than one player at a time is very dependant on your hardware. If you are talking about a netbook of some sort you probably get exactly the performance you have paid for. A workaround is to download the movies you want to watch using some plugin or other tool and watch it in vlc.

  • @qwasdninja Using a Laptop with Pentium Dual CPU T2930 @ 1.9Ghz, 2GB DDR2 RAM and a intel 965 family chipset

    VLC is a great alternative

but sometimes you wanna stream (i watch episodes of animes back to back) so i don't want to predownload before watching each one :P

nvm i have windows 7 now, so it's all good.. ^^

  • @qwasdninja Linux sucks big time

  • @3ytc Linux > Windows > Mac OS X

  • 80 gigs used before i even touch it? Not even Vista is _that_ bloated. Blowing 512 mb of ram on, well, nothing is also quite crappy.

  • At one point he said..."for this configuration... we have 1GB of internal RAM"...

    LOL

I bet he'll go on to give a review on an external graphics card too.

  • does it come with vista or xp? And which one is the best?

  • newer doesn't mean better. Vista requires much more RAM (memory) to run efficiently, and these computers usually only have 1gb, maybe 2gb max, which is not good enough to run Vista well. Vista will run, but XP will run better, and there's no advantage to having Vista over XP other than the look.

  • To muhali3:

Well, like i said, one man already installed Vista on to this very same netbook, and he said IT WORKED JUST FINE. So, just because its a netbook doesnt mean, it cant run vista. Ive seen tons of netbooks that do run vista, in real life, and ive tested them out, and they also work fine.

  • forget about xp and vista. windows 7 are best, really

  • forget about xp and vista and 7. windows 3.1 and 98 are the best, really

  • DOS FTW!!!

  • yes there are DOS in windows 3.1

  • Damn.

    :^)

  • I utterly concur

  • BUT add more RAM maybe 2GB

  • im in the same computer

  • Yea I'm in year 9 and very year 9 student at my school gets one of these computers so i think its only for word processing and its go no disk drive

  • there are plugins like external disk drives, or you can virtually mount the files.... these methods both account for the lack of the disk drive.

  • no disc drive !WTF?

  • Thats what I said

  • Would it be hard for this computer to run a recording software. I am looking for a cheap laptop to record music with, because I create my own music. If you have any ideas about laptops under 400 if possible.

  • Na man these bad boys are only good for word processing and small business type use. The atom processors are shitty when you start to talk about serious processing power required for Audio and Video mixing and recording. Macs are excellent for that but not too many have the funds for em (ME) or the pricey software. Take a look at QVC for an affordable way to get a decent machine for your needs. I got a HP IQ506 back in October, LOVE IT! Yeah but these netbooks are just for emailing types...

  • I'd recommend the Mac route for such tasks really. Yes they cost quite a bit, but you get what you pay for. Look at refurbished models or "end of life" stock clearance. Now is the time for that as the new model refresh just happened in June, so they may still be getting rid of the old machines for bargin prices. Also, if you're a student, make use of the discount!

  • why has no one else been able to imitate the thinness of the apple airbook?

  • MSI netbook has an offering spot on to the macbook air in thinness. Not everything the Macbook air can do, but if folks just surf the net and email with it, then it's perfect for that.

  • Because they don't have Steve Jobs.

  • im sorry their new generation looks cheap compare to the 1st generation which has an express 34 slot for more usb and firewire expansions and among other things...

  • I N V U. (I envy you) (=

  • You have a good review voice, but just as a reminder it would be a tad better if you limited "uhs"

Besides that it was a very good review and very informational.

  • "AAAAHELLO I'M JERRY JATSON"

  • OW R U 2DEY

  • LOL

  • I wish the Lenovo S10 or the S10e had a TrackPoint :'( I'm really disappointed. Lets just hope the next generation S10(e) has one.

  • u people don't no anything about computers

solid state disk drives set a new standard for reliability in desktop and notebook storage solutions.

  • Sure, faster.. But reliability is a huge considern for SSDs. They have (relatively) low write cycles. How much do you know about compters?

  • @otlyer solid state drives suck balls, they scar whenever you delete something

  • solid state drives are less prone to breakdown. i dont know if they are faster, but they hold less memory. they are just...safer but less memory and i Think they're slower, dont know for sure

  • They can actually be much faster.

  • solid state drives are actually significantly faster if they have the same memory as the regular drives

  • Some solid state drives are slower then hard drives especially on netbooks. Better quality ones are faster.

  • i dont think those are that good because i think they have a solid state hardrive and those things suck soo.....anyone who knows about compputers reply to this comment

  • haha jerry jackson

  • haha

  • EEE supports 2gb with one ram module...

  • I like Lenovo laptops, I wonder if I'd like their netbooks.

  • I wanted something that was fast and the screening sharp (: I looked at another video and I was amazed of how sharp and fast the computer was for just $300 (: I was thinking about a notebook but i don't want to waste my money (:

I think im getting the Lenovo...

  • sorry :]

i didnt mean just notebook I meant Apple Notebook ***

  • this guys sounds like a bumbling idiot.... complaining about the length of the power cord? come on..

  • Is this fan Loud??

  • wats better and Y S10 / S10e thanks

  • the S10e is just a slimmed down version of the S10, instead of 1 gb of drr2 it has 512mb, instead of a 160gb hdd it has an 80gb hdd.

  • hey u didnt even turn on ur notebook need more detial..

  • I can consider long power cord a plus, even with a laptop. Usually most electric and electronic quipment comes with a too short cord, and it's not really taking up much extra space or weight.

  • I would love a MacBook-type power cord where you can switch out the wall outlet connector for a longer cord.

  • you don't sound very taken with this notbook, i don't know why you bothered

  • I'm saving up for a laptop that will be used for audio production/live performance tool. Would this be sufficient for running programs such as Adobe Audition or Acid Pro? Thanks.

  • 512mb isnt enough. But I guess its upgradable

  • it is enough..

  • Depends on what you're doing. If you're indeed using your netbook to surf the net, 512 is plenty. If you want to do something else at the same time, 1GB may be required.

  • Mine came with 1 GB. i think it is standard now.

  • this is a NETBOOK short for INTERNET BOOK. this machine is only dedicated with INTERNET FUNCTIONS that's why 1.5G max RAM is enough.

a NETBOOK is a smaller machine compare to a NOTEBOOK.

  • does it have wifi, like can i connect to my local wifi???

  • yes

  • This one is basically an Asus EEE 1000HA with an express card... event the Up key and Shift key are switched the same way... does it come with a sleeve or carrybag?

  • but is the eee able to upgrade to +2gb ram?

  • ok so where's the cd slot??? i don't see one and am thinking of buying the s10 please coment back?!

  • It's a netbook. Netbooks don't have CD slots, you have to buy an external drive.

  • thanks!

  • You need moar NC10.

  • NC10, whatever, any netbook except for the Inspiron Mini 9 are better then the IdeaPad S10. I said Aspire One because it was the first of the Eee imitators. The IdeaPad S10 is a thinkpad, only after you take away everything that makes a thinkpad worth using. You don't get ultranav, you get a less than full size keyboard WITH a shrunken right shift key, there's no solid state options, it BARELY has enough ram to run Windows XP and it took them til after CHRISTMAS to release a 6 cell battery.

  • Hey man, I'm with you. Lenovo Netbook is made of cock and fail. And the only reason I chose the NC10 is that it's got the largest keyboard for my fat ass hands, plus I think it looks classiest (but that's just opinion, let's not get dragged into a youtube war of words -_-)

  • Oh, and NC10 has 6 cell battery as standard. That's a major plus for me.

  • It's a 10 inch Netbook. It has pretty much the same resolution as all other Netbooks available.

  • Maximum Resolution: 1024 x 600

I don't understand what you're talking about, maybe you're just retarded and haven't changed the settings?

  • why in fuck would u play games on this its so small only an idiot would buy this for games

  • It's not meant to play games. It's meant to just websurf.

  • I play a lot of games on mine, and i run limewire, itunes, and it doesn't slow down a bit.

  • can u intall aim on it?

  • yes

  • Next time zoom in on the keyboard!

That right shift key is not a useful place for touch typists!

  • Lenovo is smaller for a 10" and better design than the Samsung nc10 but the 3 cell battery really kills the deal....so i didnt get it.

  • Yeah, it removed it from my list.

I'm looking at the MSI Wind 432US/286MY/422CA or the EEE pc 1000H.

  • ahhh it so cute lol

  • 300 dollar???????????

  • 399 dollars

  • 399...

but i herd its a REALLY great netbook

  • Yeah, Steve invented the colour.

  • dude it comes with like 4 other colors

  • i wish my laptop had an AC cord that long...

  • cool

  • i want to get this by selling my old notebook (that's way more high spec'd but a bit heavy to carry around all the time. I don't really need a speedy machine since i have a desktop). However, is it powerful enough for programs such as word, excel, powerpoint (I mean I'm sure it can run them, but do you guys think it can run them well enough?)

  • On Windows XP it can. If you try to install Vista, you might run into problems, but there is too little memory for that anyway. Office 2007 shoudl work great on these netbooks.

  • vista actually takes about about 20 GB so it would be using about 1/4th the memory on the computer itself.

  • It runs all the Office 2003 apps VERY well. Can't say as to Office 2007.

  • yah, looks more nice than Eee PC for sure!!

  • Wow, that thing just kicked Eee PC's ass.

  • not price wise

  • its almost 150 dollars cheaper lol

  • Received my order of 3 last week from an order that was placed like 2 months ago ;< .Well I got it at a nice sales price, and then I prompt sold all of them on ebay.Back orders seem pretty bad,I might of been able to get a better price for them.On the lenovo sight now, says the white one will ship in a few days but the black one(ones I got) ships in a whole month or more.Yeah those cords look bad but atleast the power brick is relatively small.

  • it's called a kesington lock

  • I think you mean Kensington, which is a company that makes laptop locks amongst other things.
