You are a layer Danzig is a nation city of Poland. 1923 year there was a 15% of Polish(with Polish nationality excluding Polish becomers) but rest of citisens were german, judish,and other nations. So You can not sey that was a german city. True is that was and is a Polish City but nationality of citisens was difrent. but: in 1939 the city of Danzig was inhabitated by 90% german people.. they were oppresed as were the ukrainians and the belorussians in pre-WWII Poland.. so wasn't it clear they would support Hitler and his policy? Would you as Polish people liked to try how it was within that state to live as a minority, within a state that had to show for 30 years his superiority over anyone who wasn't polish. Poland 1919-1939 was hell for any minority..
Każdy dzień obrony na Westerplatte dawał chęć walki oraz podtrzymywał morale żołnierz którzy heroicznie walczyli o naszą ojczyznę. Choć termin obrony 12 godzin został dotrzymany oni bronili się nadal niosąc nadzieje chwała bohaterom września. Koppernigk's greatgrandfather was from Köppernig ("Koperniki") near Neiße ("Nysa") in Silesia, then part of the Austrians. Most Germans who have Polish roots were not "stolen", but from Polish ancestors. Kopernikus was loyal to the Polish Crown, but ethnic German, German-speaking, maybe some Polish ethnic influence from Kraków (which had many Jiddish and German speakers in 15th c. mostly). Cieszyn (Teschen) was always Bohemia and Deutsch. Yes you occupied Zaolzie in 1938!!!

The Köppernigk family was an ethnic German family from Kraków (in 1496 AD, Kraków had 35 % ethnic German citizens), originally from Köppernig in Lower Silesia (now "Koperniki" village), which was a German village in German Lower Silesia. This Polish propaganda about "Polish" Kopernikus is silly. I am already saying that Kopernikus was a Polish patriot-monarchist, but an ethnic German entirely. He wrote only in German and Latin. Ermland ("Warmia") was German 97 %.

@RitterDesHimmels1 Thorn in the 15th century AD was an entirely ethnic German city like Danzig was. Torun was not a Polish city like it became after 1926, by anti-German expropriation. In the Middle Ages, it was 100 % German. Poles were forbidden to live inside the city (except for Royal Polish representatives). In 1910 Torun was still 84 % German. Ok so what is polonization for you? Mikołaj Kopernik have spoken Polish (German, Latin, Greek and Italian too). All of his works were in Latin (he wrote also some letters in German to the Prussian Duke). The vast majority of Poles back then wrote in Latin not Polish. Unlike the German language, Polish was not widely used in scripts. Latin was the official language in Poland. He never identified himself with the German nation, but with the Polish state.He defended Poland against "Deutsches Orden"

Who defended the Polish crown. 19th century post-1789 nationalism and chauvinism did not exist, at least not in the current modus of blood, soil, identity, language. Walddeutsche were Polonized, exactly because they were Polish monarchists. Many Catholic non-Reformatory ethnic Germans in Wielkopolska were also polonized.

But like Thorn (Torun), most towns had a German majority. In Thorn, no non-Germans were allowed to live. This excluded Poles and Kashubians and Jews. You constantly deny the Weichsel and Warthe ethnic Germans, who were more numerous in 1400 in %, than in 1910.

@RitterDesHimmels1 If ethnic Germans of Torun are not Germans in 1400, then Masurians of East Prussia of 1921 (Plebiscite) were not Poles. But the Polish nationalists were ethnic identity nation-state adherents. They had phantasies about ethnic homogenous "Polish" state. In reality, modern Poland without the German territorities and including Lwów (exclave!) and Wilno was all there was to ethnic Polish land.

It is rather ironic that Westerplatte was only granted to Poland by the League of Nations because of communist based trade unions in Gdańsk who refused to ship arms through the port during the Polish - Bolshevik war. No doubt the Nazis did not mention that.

In Ternopil voivodeship Poles made about half of the population. Even according to the Austrian census from 1910, Poles made 40% of the population in whole eastern Galicia (including largely inhibitet by Ruthenians Stanisławowskie voivodeship). In Kowno after WWI lived much more Poles than Lithuanians.

Fakt, "niedyspozycji" majora, utrzymywano w tajemnicy przed żołnierzami składnicy, w obawie o ich morale. Oficjalnie Sucharski cały czas wydawał rozkazy - w praktyce robił to Dąbrowski. Informował on, Sucharskiego o podjętych decyzjach. Jeszcze jedna ciekawostka. Westerplatte MOGŁO bronić się dłużej!!!! Obrońcy posiadali jeszcze ZNACZNY zapas amunicji na ok
5-7 dni - mówi o tym raport niemców po zajęciu składnicy. ALE ranni, by tej dłuższej obrony nie przeżyli!!!

You are a layer Danzig is a nation city of Poland. 1923 year there was a 15% of Polish(with Polish nationality excluding Polish becomers) but rest of citisens were german, judish,and other nations. So You can not sey that was a german city. True is that was and is a Polish City but nationality of citisens was difrent. Other important totaly Polish citys made by Polish Nobles; Minsk, Riga, Lwow, Vilno, Kaliningrag befor Koningsberg befor KRÓLEWIEC(Original Polish name)!!!

but: in 1939 the city of Danzig was inhabitated by 90% german people.. they were oppresed as were the ukrainians and the belorussians in pre-WWII Poland.. so wasn't it clear they would support Hitler and his policy? Would you as Polish people liked to try how it was within that state to live as a minority, within a state that had to show for 30 years his superiority over anyone who wasn't polish. Poland 1919-1939 was hell for any minority..

Każdy dzień obrony na Westerplatte dawał chęć walki oraz podtrzymywał morale żołnierz którzy heroicznie walczyli o naszą ojczyznę. Choć termin obrony 12 godzin został dotrzymany oni bronili się nadal niosąc nadzieje chwała bohaterom września. Wszyscy któż usiłują zniszczyć tę piękną historie są niewarci tego żeby nazywać ich polakami.

może i kiedyś był niemiecki jak obecne pół polski i co z tego. ciekawe czy na stronach afrykańskich tez piszesz że to kiedys były wasze kolonie. Gdańsk during 800 years was a part of Poland. This marks nothing? No quantity of disloyal inhabitants of this will not change. Unimportant, whether are Germans, Australians or with Mongolians. 800 years the plus or the minus the week. Westerplatte was a small coloured point in the sad reality. For the solace of the sad. The loss of Gdańsk was so painful. Our Mother Polend cry. Our hope never got lost. The prayer was heard. Free Poland in her own land, the house of Kashubians, Pomerania.

Oh stop this discussion. Danzig was inside the Polish Kingdom for centuries. Copernicus was loyal to the Polish King (incl. August the Strong from GERMAN Saxony). But he was German speaking and ethnic German, from ethnic German families from Frankenstein (Silesia) and von Watzenrode.

Copernicus defended the Polish Royal rule. Like his uncle the GERMAN-ethnic Prince-Bishop of Ermland ("Warmia") Lukas von Watzenrode from Braunsberg did too. He opposed the Teutonic invasions. But he was a German too. Or is von Watzenrode and Braunsberg "ancient Polish" too? Maybe Bonn and Trier are 'ancient Polish lands' too? Londowiec (London) and Janowice (Johannesburg), always "ancient Polish Imperial lands".

Lukas Watzenrode? The brother of the mother of Copernicus. And the father with Pole from Cracow which came to Toruń. In my family fon the distaff side it was several Germans. I do not despair. We are everybody in Pomerania autochthons. Quite many today′s Germans has Polish roots. After Polish stolen children , if had nordic faces. Where Polish limits never were there, there never there was Poland. Naturally, does not refer this Vilnius. Before XX age he was always a part of Lithuania.

It was impossible for Poland to exist without those cities. Piłsudski wanted to rebuilt historical Lithuania (a common home for Belorussians, Lithuanians and Poles) but Lithuanians refused.

Koppernigk's greatgrandfather was from Köppernig ("Koperniki") near Neiße ("Nysa") in Silesia, then part of the Austrians. Most Germans who have Polish roots were not "stolen", but from Polish ancestors. Kopernikus was loyal to the Polish Crown, but ethnic German, German-speaking, maybe some Polish ethnic influence from Kraków (which had many Jiddish and German speakers in 15th c. mostly). Cieszyn (Teschen) was always Bohemia and Deutsch. Yes you occupied Zaolzie in 1938!!!

Ślężanie were tribe West Slavs who coformed state of Mieszko. Silesia was Austrian only since short time. Perhaps for German "racial hygiene" German is somebody who had German ancestors to eighth generation. Will suffice to us one ancestor and loyalty. Poland committed only two crimes. 1: The occupation of Vilnius. 2: The occupation of Zaolzie. So anyway as other Allies permitting to ravage Czechoslovakia. Copernicus's mother wihout doubt was German. So as my grandmamma on distaff side.

Copernicus father was also German-speaking Koppernigk from Köppernig in Silesia (grandfather) and from Frankenstein (grandmother). The daughter of a German and Miroslav Klose is also German. Nikolaus Kopernikus was an ethnic German Polish citizen. Face complex history. Poland made many crimes: the august 1939 bloody attacks against ethnic Germans in West Prussia and Poznan region. All documented. Ethnic extremism. Did not exist before 1789.

Has nothing unusual that the father of Copernicus knew German language. Who wanted to be the tradesman, had to be a polyglot. All my ancestors perfectly knew of German language. The politician of the germanization and the neighbourhood of colonials had effect. Is that so you didn't know that in the 1939 there was no pest about the name West Prussia, but Pomeranian voivodship? Original name? You don't attend that oppressing of Germans at that time would be a madness? Outright with the suicide?

He was from a German-speaking family, originally from Frankenstein (Schlesien). Like the Volga Germans. There were German and Dutch traders in Saint Petersbourg (Russia) for centuries too. But as long as they retained their ethnic identity, they remained ethnic Dutch and ethnic German. Like Koppernigk family. The family of the Pole Jozéf Beck took up Polish-speaking identity. But not Kopernikus. West Prussian ethnic Germans were murdered by Poles. I spoke with victims!

Indeed in late Middle Ages, Germans were not an unusual occurrence on Silesia. In the same way as Czeches, Silesians and Poles. Then Silesia was controlled by Czeches. The Köppernigk family was an ethnic German family from Kraków (in 1496 AD, Kraków had 35 % ethnic German citizens), originally from Köppernig in Lower Silesia (now "Koperniki" village), which was a German village in German Lower Silesia. This Polish propaganda about "Polish" Kopernikus is silly. I am already saying that Kopernikus was a Polish patriot-monarchist, but an ethnic German entirely. He wrote only in German and Latin. Ermland ("Warmia") was German 97 %.

@RitterDesHimmels1 Thorn in the 15th century AD was an entirely ethnic German city like Danzig was. Torun was not a Polish city like it became after 1926, by anti-German expropriation. In the Middle Ages, it was 100 % German. Poles were forbidden to live inside the city (except for Royal Polish representatives). In 1910 Torun was still 84 % German. Your Polish denial of historical facts, Polish perversion of historical truth, and repulsive chauvinism and Pan-Slavic myths are beginning to tire me

Ok so what is polonization for you? Mikołaj Kopernik have spoken Polish (German, Latin, Greek and Italian too). All of his works were in Latin (he wrote also some letters in German to the Prussian Duke). The vast majority of Poles back then wrote in Latin not Polish. Unlike the German language, Polish was not widely used in scripts. Latin was the official language in Poland. He never identified himself with the German nation, but with the Polish state.He defended Poland against "Deutsches Orden"

@RitterDesHimmels1 Ritter,you are right.Kopernik's father family lived in Kraków fo a hundred years before he moved to Toruń, interestingly he did that AFTER Gdansk and Toruń were incorporated to Poland,his frend was bishop Zbigniew Oleśnicki,an ardent defender of Polands interest and a chief politician.The family roots were in Koperniki,Silesia its germanic suffix was added 500years later by Frederic.Kopernik never used a German name form but Polish alternatively Latin as was common in Europe.

@wladys678 Köppernig is Silesia means cupper village, not a Slavic origin. Nicolaus Kopernikus was an ethnic German Polish monarchist who used only German and Latin. Who defended the Polish crown. 19th century post-1789 nationalism and chauvinism did not exist, at least not in the current modus of blood, soil, identity, language. Walddeutsche were Polonized, exactly because they were Polish monarchists. Many Catholic non-Reformatory ethnic Germans in Wielkopolska were also polonized.

@RitterDesHimmels1 Kopernik attended a pre-university education in Włocławek parochial school,it was a pure Polish ethnic land.We were 'called to the board' by historatia/IustitiaPax on this subject,otherwise Kopernik's nationality is not worth mentioning.We are not denying that on maternal side his name was German, his uncle was a prominent bishop with impeccable Polish loyality record.

@wladys678 Leslau was a "pure Polish ethnic land"? Leslau had a German minority and a German-speaking Jewish Rhinish majority. Of course the countryside was ethnic Polish. But like Thorn (Torun), most towns had a German majority. In Thorn, no non-Germans were allowed to live. This excluded Poles and Kashubians and Jews. You constantly deny the Weichsel and Warthe ethnic Germans, who were more numerous in 1400 in %, than in 1910.

@RitterDesHimmels1 I stated that they were ethnic German Polish monarchists. Austrians are ethnic Germans indeed. South Tyrolese are ethnic Germans. But they were not Prussian Hohenzollern adherents, nor were they Teutonic Knights, in order to keep with the Polish demonizing atrocity fairytales about "evil Germans".

@RitterDesHimmels1 If ethnic Germans of Torun are not Germans in 1400, then Masurians of East Prussia of 1921 (Plebiscite) were not Poles. But the Polish nationalists were ethnic identity nation-state adherents. They had phantasies about ethnic homogenous "Polish" state. In reality, modern Poland without the German territorities and including Lwów (exclave!) and Wilno was all there was to ethnic Polish land.

But the Teutonic Knights were not only "Germans", but in fact a multicultural Holy Roman Empire-inspired Monastic State. It included Polish and Slovak Knights too.
