  • What is this infamous corner called? Just wondering, because you have "the snake" and so on, and everybody's crashing at this particculary corner so it should bee called "the angels corner" since nobody (just assuming, not knowing) is getting killed in this corner. Alot of accidents is unfolded in this corner but it seems like nearly almost all of the riders are in one piece after the crash (not the same story to be told about the bikes howewer). :)

  • The bike just flops out from under him. That's awesome.

  • @ 0:31 he still thinks he's on a bike

  • Is that really it? Just locked up the front brake? Cause that makes sense to me.

  • Wait. Now how does this shit even happen. The ground looks clean, bike doesn't appear to be having problems. I want to get a bike someday but when I see unpredictable videos like this I have second thoughts. Why does this happen!

  • smh....every one crashes on this road...

  • lol, just came from a video where the dumbass locked up the rear brake around a corner... now this moron goes 1 step further, and locks up the front... !!!! wtf

  • sand/dirt =(

  • During my Uni years i did some research and engineering and made some crash simulations about mods of usual crash barriers to motorcyclist safe ones.

    youtube.com/watch?v=VCZkhZv-bII

install something like that on that corner

  • I know this guy! Went riding with im on Ortega. No crashes lol.

  • chac kiem xe di tap nga qua!!!!

  • FUCK! shitloads of vids like this! why dont u guys put some foam oder fuckin protection underneath that fuckin guardrail before someone really gets torn apart and fuckin die? shit... greetz from germany!

  • what you get for having a yellow ninja - it must be green

  • @TwigzletRandomness its orange you donkey turd NOT YELLOW!

  • how the hell did that happen? looks like he pulled both brakes to slam it down that fast

  • @joebmxx once the front wheel locks up while leaning, it comes down very quick... trust me, I've done this before.

  • @joebmxx Front brake from what I can see.

  • why are all your vids of the same corner on the same road on the same day ?" did you tamper with the roads integerty because this is what it looks like to "just an observation"

  • WTF happen? did he lock the front brake? Anyway, hope he learn something...

  • Final word on cause of crash from an expert: as seen in architecture and babies, the center line of the bike craves unity; the center seam of the crotch sack and it's cousin, the buttass crack need unity at a 45% angle - this is "hangimg into the bike" and a diameterically opposed AKA "cheeseless" orientation. ROUND your back into the bike while loving the brakes unconditionally but do not satiate their love for the finger touches.

  • I can't help but laugh at all the people in the comments proposing what he did wrong when they've never ridden a day in their lives.

  • this rider hit front brake when leaning ~~

  • Why does everyone crash at this highway ?!?!?!?

  • that gravity is shure mean

  • He's forcing his bars left to turn left. Motorcycles do not work that way. Steer right go left (25mph or more)... Look at his front wheel, he forces it right, then bails.

  • This idiot has has a 7 part video diary on Youtube of everything leading up to this lame crash and you're right, he's a fucking pussy.

  • ya, dont hit your front brake ina turn when your leaned over u stupid shit

  • Wasn't that much damage considering how hard it hit and slid.

  • don't hit the front brake in the turn dumbass

  • to the dumby who fell ,see the last guy?that s how you ride a bike.

  • yup JEROMELIYAS is correct u can see the guy let go of the front brake wen he starts to polish the floor.

  • how often do them guard rails get replaced

  • pressed the front brake too much 0:23. you see how the front tire "run" to the right.

  • turn to much the wheel 0:23

  • wait wait guys who the hell is paying for the insurance!!!

  • That's poor suspension setup, Tire pressure,Tire age, or a combonation of the three. I laugh at how many people never check their tire pressure, I do it before every ride.

  • Very poor riding skill.

  • shit place to walk your dog

  • lucky for that guard rail

  • HOLLLY SHIIIIIIIITTTTT!!!!!!!! 0:08, if not by the guardrail's leg, he'd fall into the valley!!!! look closely!!!!

  • I was expecting the red bike to crash next ! I do love being an expert watching these vids....all I do know is that we all cock it up at some time , luckily he was in good gear and the bike wasnt too trashed.

  • horrible driver

  • @ardilladeltibet it's not a car, you don't drive a bike, you ride, what you should say is "horrible rider"

  • Honda CBR600rr FTW!

  • Go to 0:23 and watch him release the death grip on front brake.

  • yeah why was he using the front brake, if he woulda stayed calm and not grab a hand full he would have been fine

  • @2braappin hard to stay calm ( for some ); the POV looks much different than our view looking from behind a pc screen monitor; the sound of the motor, the vibration of the bike, the lean angle, the guard rail ect ect. much different than watching from our screen here.

  • @cooksecurities yeah ik cause it all happens so fast, and thats why its all about how much time you have on that seat..... the more time the more skilled, more skilled more calm, more calm equals being faster and more comfortable and knowing how to react in these situations, it takes time to ride above your skill level, and this guy clearly did, i ride motocross and hate to try and ride above my skill level and most likely when you do and are not ready for it you will crash

  • 0:24, too much front brake. Simples!

  • what a terrible body position....

  • Is somebody greasing this corner and waiting with a camera?!

  • @RocketDogMan seems so

  • that's happen when you let go of the gas a while turming

  • @Gendersonhernandez Obviously you know nothing about motorcycles.

  • @Gendersonhernandez

He chopped down a gear dumb cunt

  • What road are you filming all these videos form?

  • @flkidsofresh Mulholland highway

  • He braked to hard

  • @jesper476 Yeah looks like too much front brake. I'm sure he knows now to brake before he gets to the corner and use as little front brake as you can get away with once turning. If you lose the rear tyre you can get out of it quite often, but losing the front and you've little or no chance.

  • Front brake much in the turn ?

  • I personally think you assholes put something o. The floor to make it slippery there's no way that many people crash for no reason even if you know that's a dangerous spot put up a sign or something don't just record you stupid fagots I hope some out pulls out on everyone of you pieces of shit!!

  • @Maxparry5 As a local rider there, I can tell you nothing is put on the road that will harm the riders. In fact, I personally walk the road to ensure it's cleanliness. If not, the photographer brings a large broom, so the corners can be swept if needed. All the crashes that happen on entry, like the one you see here, are simply due to the rider entering the corner to fast for his comfort zone. He then panics and brakes heavily to the point where the front tire loses traction. Thats it.

  • red bike doing the corner was LIKE A BOSS.

  • theres more cameramen there than at the golden globes !!

  • hey you can watch me pull on my front brake on a sharp corner AND then CRASH hehe nood?

  • footbrake?

  • lololol his tires just said "NO" xD

  • In the slo mo the handle bars are turned in to the corner- never under estimate the power of counter steering

  • i wanna know what bike is that at 0:12 rc51??

  • Alvaro bautista style!

  • @maxinkaizer HaH! lol

  • Is this the same guy that crashed near the bottom of the Snake last Sunday? Same leathers and bike.

  • have to love americans how they check first on the bike lol

  • *danghewitt* is the guy, check his video from the on board cam :)

  • theres always some douche with a camera wiating for somebody to crash

  • i swear theres about 500 videos of people crashing going round that same area maybe something needs to be done to the road to stop loss of traction

  • 1:16 Ride of Shame..LOL

  • @psaross Totally, at least the worst damage was to his pride.

  • Good spotting everybody who picked up the front brake.

Those Kawasaki's sure look the bee's knee's even when going down.

  • Now he needs a new mirror !!

  • This is a very common problem with high-end motorcycles and their drivers. The problem's with the drivers. Too much money, not enough skill.

  • Yes, front brake was applied too hard you could see during the slow motion, he let's go of the brake during the fall. Every time you apply breaks, you minus traction, you don't want to reduce your total available traction by breaking durning a turn. Turning itself, requires traction and he went over the available traction the bikes tires could handle by breaking a turn.

  • what a shame.....cool video though, thanks for putting it on youtube!

  • i think under the street is a big magnet!

watch near miss video from uploader! it is damn curious!

    but hey, magnetic force!!!

  • Omfg, I looked at the slo mo. What the hell was his hand doing on the front brake while turning??????

  • P.P.S. Unless you and the bike are leaning far enough over to put some of the bike's weight onto your knee (using a skid pad and actually pressing on the pavement (very dangerous outside of a pristine track)), dragging your knee only effectively makes you have less control of the bike because your lower body is less secure, but at best it MIGHT make you feel better/cooler.

  • @ITClimber000 Thats not how getting your knee down works. The idea behind setting up the correct body position is to lower the center of gravity as the rider makes up a significant portion of the total mass, but also to place that mass within arc of turn which helps to keep the bike stable and effectivley drags the bike tighter which means that the bike itsself requires less lean to complete the same turn at the same speed as someone rideing upright.

  • Getting your knee down as cool as it is is just a side effect of creating this body position.

  • P.S. Take a close look at the second rider. They went through the corner at a higher speed with much more control. Look at how they aren't just getting their butt into the corner, but their shoulders as well. Esp guys, most weight is in the upper body and that weight needs to be into the corner so the bike can be more upright in the turn making it more stable throughout.

  • Yes, the crash was caused by the front tire locking up. Using the front brake while cornering is a VERY bad idea because most of the friction is being used to turn the bike and braking can cause the friction threshold to be breached, causing a skid/lockup. Rear skid while cornering is much easier to recover from either by reducing acceleration or reducing brake application. Both of these recovery methods have the chance to cause a high-side wreck, but clamp with your legs and you should be fine.

  • @ITClimber000 It's also pretty obvious he was grabbing front brake because you can see the bike wiggling around just before the crash. Gotta be nice and smooth on the throttle and brakes in the corners. At that lean angle, he should have been off the brakes. Turn, brake, or accelerate. Start trying combos of those three and you're tempting fate if you don't have a ton of riding experience and know your limits (road condition, surface, tire condition/grip, etc).

  • 1:10 HaHaHaHa the ride of shame. Sad to say, I've been there, not a fun day :(

  • ihr sagt immer alle der hat dieses und jenes falsch gemacht doch kommt ers mal in die lage des bikers

sowas geht schneller als man denkt !!

  • too much speed into the turn and then panics and grabs too much front brake and tucks front end. ROOKIE.

  • Rnickeymouse love youre films on youtube!!! seen them all!

To all other people: I want to buy a piece of land in that corner and start a shop with motorcycle parts and repairs! who is with me???

  • Here Also !

  • Thank that guard rail or else the vultures would have had his bike/.........

  • why do you keep crashing in so many vids why do you keep doing it does it just randomly happen and you want it too or something im confused

  • Is someone oiling that turn up???

  • @nicdangeryt Read the description, then go back to your nintendo. Dumbass

  • @FusionSpecialists... Yeah I watched it carefully and you're right.. My bad.

  • Very simple crash. Incorrect steering had nothing to do with it. Rider overloaded front tire with brake and lost traction. Rider didn't all of a sudden jerk the handlebars to the left. Watch the Keith Code video where he mounted a set of handlebars to the frame and put a dial indicator on the gas tank to demonstrate how a bike steers. It's on Youtube. If after watching that video you still don't get it, I don't know how you're ever going to learn.

  • Steering wrong side, counter steer should erase.this mistake.

  • Front brake lock up....

  • this dude is a shit rider...not counter steering....not looking pass the turn...sitting up near the gas tank.

  • 350... he hits the front break... you can see the front wheel skid up and down... lol

  • You retards. Watch the slow mo carefully... When he enters the lean-in phase... Instead of counter steering, he turns the handle bars into the turn. It's a left hand turn and he turns his handebars to the left which cause the bike to fall

  • @350z89 its because the front wheel sliped

  • @350z89 watch the video from his POV (link in description). he states that he doesn't know what happened but the bike just started to skid. watching the video and any other video about this corner on mulholland it's clear that he got into the spot where most people skid out with their back tire. he just happened to put his front tire in it. that exact spot is notorious for loss of traction.

  • @666jet Not loss of traction, but the exact spot your speed vs your skill meet.

If that spot was so slick, why do thousands of riders, whether they are dragging knee or just putting along, navigate that turn without falling?

  • Comment removed

  • @sanjurokurosawa check the reply to myself... my bad. also, i went back through the mulholland videos and the spot i'm thinking of is closer to the end of the guardrail section. there's even a faint line of rubber where the majority of the slides happen.

  • @666jet oops! i just watched this video again from REALLY close to my TV and i can see that the front wheel locks up and you can see him clearly letting off the front brake right as he hits the ground. tsk, tsk... it's hard to find that perfect amount of front vs. rear brake when panic braking as you enter a corner too fast for your ability...

  • @666jet Yeah I've watched all the crash clips. The first one was the guy who stares himself into the guard rail, and my favorite is definitely the scooter rider.

But while there are alot of crashes on the curve, I haven't seen one posted where the rider slides out because of a loss of traction. Strictly a case of entrance speed vs skill.

  • @sanjurokurosawa it takes some really close viewing but there are a few. it's usually the rear tire and you can see the spot where it gives way. there's clearly some sort of mark there in the road if you look closely. it's about 4-6 feet long and about the width of a tire. i'm sure it's from other bikes going down right there. idk. just seems like it to me.

  • @666jet Yeah i just noticed that too. The front tire locked up. You can also see just before he crashed, the handle bars started swaying. Seems like a good guy tho.

  • @666jet then...the front brake was the problem?

  • @blackfire133 he pulled the front brake too hard and it locked up.

  • @350z89 Calling everyone else retarded when your own explanation shows you don't even understand what happened? Watch it in 1x speed, I think it'll be less confusing for you. When you see the handlebars turn to the left -- that's waaaay after the turn was initiated (which happened at around 0:18 in the slow mo). The front wheel tucked because he braked too hard while turning -- like everyone else but you was saying.

  • @350z89 actually, if he turned the bars in to the turn the bike would have straightened up, not slipped under. if you think about it, when you're cornering (using countersteering) how do you bring the bike back up from leaning? by turning in.

  • This is what happens when you use your front brake around a turn

  • @mcracer409 You obviously don't ride. Go back to your Nintendo.

  • @mcracer409 He was not overbraking. The front wheel only locks up after the wheel turns hard - not before. Also, if he were braking, the fork would deflect and a righting moment would force the bike into uprighting itself. You can see none of that in this video.

Instead, I think 666jet is right. There are some nasty bumps in that road that cause the tire to lose road contact for a very short time. You can even see the bike wobble. That caused the crash.

  • @TheXnhy There's no bump!

  • @0:24 you can see he was holding the brakes, thats y he fail

  • Looks to me as if he's not looking through the corner but at the gaurd rail.

  • 1:05 .. bike 4sale!!

  • Between the 22 and 25 second mark you can see the rider stab the front brake twice causing the forks to compress and washing out the front. When the riders right hand comes off the grip you can see that he had all fingers around the brake lever. In short he grabbed a handfull of brake and it bit him. Stock brakes suck on 2nd gen zx10r's. Steel braided lines and Nissin calipers = 2 finger braking.

  • Shit on the road surface, not the biker fault! Should be compensated by the government, for not keeping roads clean...

  • If you look carefully that rail was already broken where he hit. :P

  • @Hawaiianspawn wtf is wrong with the government? there are all these vids of riders slamming into the guard rail...yet they've done nothing to improve them...

  • @nEEdLzZz "They are breaking road laws by driving too fast on a corner."

Bullshit, keep a barrier that'll keep a goddamn F150 from sliding off the ledge then they won't get tangled in the posts.

  • Am I seeing things or is there a slight bump in the road that lead to this crash? Lookes like his suspension unloads and loads and the wheel locked on the rebound from the bump. Or is that him braking and then releasing which is loading and then unloading the suspension???

  • The guy with the ape hangers made it.

  • E dopo sta figura de merda se ne ito a casa co' la coda tra le gambe ;-)

  • @Cyberediting...Do you spend your life calculating numbers in inorder to try to prove the Physics on why guys crash on their motorcycles and post them here to look superior? SAD!!

  • se fue "contento" para casa

  • 1:19 CYA sucker!!! lol

  • Dude watch his onboard video...it appears as if he corsses the double yellow several times and hes passing people on the corners as well.. shouldnt own a motorcycle...

  • @Sicknastyracerr The video is titled "Helmet Cam Crash Mulholland Snake (6 of 7)"

  • That road dont look so bad!! come to the uk and have a play on the cat and fiddle!!

most of the crashes on here seem to be due to riders using the brakes ? wtf for ?

  • @tuonogeoff From watching videos of your Cat and the Fiddle, I can see it's nice for high speed runs. We here tons of those roads like that over here. Just Goggle Map Malibu California and your mouth....lol The Snake is tight with a wide variety of corners - off and on camber, decreasing radius and the hair pin at the top where this guy crashes is axially a double apex with a very deceiving entrance and a decreasing radius on exit. Which is why so many riders are caught on tape crashing.

  • @bassgypsy00 Goggle Map Malibu California and your mouth will water. Oooops, forgot the last part of the line.

  • @bassgypsy00 Good to see (at last) someone who understands the technical aspects of this particular corner. I film at an equally difficult location in Taiwan. When novice and intermediate riders are already at their limits, they are unable to cope with three variable changes that this corner (in Taiwan) throws at them. Hence the large number of scooter & bike crashes there.

  • @CyberEditing Thank you for the kind compliment. I've studied hard and walked many types of roads to understand their complicities. Awesome technical graphic over-lay you inserted in your videos! Would be cool if "rnickeymouse" did the same to his videos too!

Here a video of me in the same corner taken by the same filmer - d8CKWUvW34s

    -Paul

  • @bassgypsy00 Thanks for the nice, positive feedback. I watched your vid carefully & observed a few points that might help: select a higher gear (lower RPM) for the speed you are doing through the corners....makes the bike response much smoother

(less snatchy). Secondly, take a much wider, sweeping / later line through the corners. You hit the apexes' radii far too early.....before the actual apex of the corners....(if that makes any sense). Lastly, make sure you weight shift your whole body!

  • @CyberEditing Your right about the lower gearing. I'm in 2nd just for more show/growl. I normally ride the Snake in 3rd gear. It's much smoother during corner entry due to less engine compression. Also, I having been working on squaring off the corners but still tend to early apex. Yeah, I still need to bring my upper body down lower. I found its the forces on my arms a wrist that keep me from just putting it where I want it. Good eye though, and thanks for the tips, I'll keep working on it!

  • @ rnickymouse.... Do you spend your life hiding out in the bushes waiting for guys to come off their bikes? Sad

  • @zaklndn No he doesn't. Only on Sundays, & like him, I capture similar footage (in Taiwan) so that others can learn from it & avoid the same mistakes in the future.

  • THATS a beautiful bike!

  • he wasnt evn that low

  • @MacGamerPro yeah ur ryt...

he's afraid to crash that's why he hit the front brake so hard...

  • @speedypt just finished my basic riding MSF course. In the course, they told us to not even brake during the turn because with as little traction that you have going directly to turning, braking is just going to take that traction and basically fuck you up. You're doing it right lol.

  • I have ridden this road and it's intimidating the first few times you ride it. New and experienced riders have crashed here. It's better to help analyze than criticize...at least in my opinion. It does look like he squeezed the front brake while leaned into the turn. That can quickly overload the traction of the front tire and wash out the front like that. The only way I can avoid that myself if to adjust my speed before the turn and take my fingers off the brake all together.

  • woah that was fast. down in a second.

  • The guy at the end shows how it's done: Lays off the gas before entering the corner, enters it with a confident, consistent lean at a reasonable speed, with no sense of panic, and accelerates out of it.

  • Brake before the turn, accelerate through the turn. Busch league stuff, come on now

  • nice colour for a kawa

  • I read the 1st comment to laugh. I read the 2nd comment to learn what happened.

  • Looks like his front for suspension is a tad hard setup.

  • So do you just sit there all day and record people going up this road or something? You have a lot of videos of what looks to be a single section of road. There good video's, im just wondering?

  • Not only does he lock the front and wad his shit up, he's stupid enough to get back on it and ride more without checking the bike out. What a douche. Darwin at his best.

  • I would at least think that everyone out west riding these curves wouldn't at least make these type of breaking errors. SMH.

  • You lost a merror in the vally sorry for bad spelling

  • if those guard rails wernt there alot of riders would have been fucked lol

  • don`t you love the sound of that chopper bike just going to it`s destiny?

  • dude! ive been watching some videos of yours now, and that fence...well, lets just say it have saved a couple of lifes!

  • The CBR6 at the end was like "that's how you do it"

  • get your breaking done before the turn lesson #1
