Ahhh! I remember seeing the paperwork for application somewhere and wanted to go to this so bad! I wish I could. It would definitely be an eye-opener to all the different styles out there.
Color Guard in marching bands/Winterguard...This is a fusion of ballet and other dances in which you use rifles, sabres, airblades, flags, and swing flags(sorry if i missed any) to create a part of the visual and general affect in a marching band, or in indoor season it is referred to as a winterguard, in which the colorguard stands alone and provides a show to be judged.
Honor Guard...Is when you march military style with 2 flags and usually two weapon bearing people. Not as pretty or exciting.
I do colorguard at my school (captains assistant), but we only use flags. This is my 5th year doing guard, but the type that we do at my small school is minimal and doesn't involve much dancing and isn't a big thing at my school. It's just for band. I'll be a junior in high school this year and I really would love to do something like this to help my team. I NEED ADVICE OF ANY TYPE!!!!
the best advice I can give you is to find a coach. I'm from a small school and last year we only did flags, but this year we got some coaches who are in college doing this and we've started doing riffles and sabres. You wont need a professional, just someone whos in college doing this. Thats what my coaches are. lol ones working at Joanns. But they know what their doing, and our color guard has really taken off this year
Tomorrow is a meeting for colorguard at my high school.. I want to do colorgiard but I've never done anything like it before. I have no experience. Do you think I should still try? =[
except im getting tired of our 3pm-12am practices.
thats not natuaral.
but anyways i think i'd be cool to come here. especially if im going to be my guard capn. next year. im only going into my second year of colorguard, and i already have to worry about being capn/and or co capn. but i love it none the less. the best part is it's not individual is a part of something bigger.
i just made color gaurd its really fun, i am the only guy though, people who say color guards gay its not =Þ its not its a verry fun sport i havent been to this camp though id like to go =D
i love guard so much. its my schools first year of winter guard and its amazing to be in. we're doing rifles, flags, and umbrellas for our show, but i cant wait to get sabres next year!
every time i try out for color guard at east carteret i never make it and it pisses me off cuz all the little twigs make it and im the only one to ever to get cut i miss twirlin a flag from when i waz 6 in jr color guard i wish i could make it this year it being my senior year but dam pizzez me the fuk off!!!!!dam dam dam dam dam dam damdam dam dam dam dam dam dam dam dam dam dam dam dam dam dam dam dam
i tried out for drum corps with that girl emily in the video......she left half way through the second day. She would have gotten a spot along with me if she had stayed.
i wish i would have known of this. i would have gone. that would have been an amazing opportunity, especially since my friend spun bluecoats this summer.
for indoor i know of blackwatch and light brigade. they spin in the independent world class. my instructor spins with them. there is also a senior class guard called "the guard". those guards all spin indoor. but for dci, i know bluecoats are in ohio, i'm not sure where the others are located though.
you're welcome. yeah, i must say guard is the best part of my life pretty much. all of my really good true friends are pretty much all in colorguard. i love it and i never want to stop, so i'm planning on doing adult guards as well once i get out of high school.
My guard practices 9am to 9 pm. Twelve hours of painnn. hahahaha.

Do they only use parade rifles or do they use drill rifles as well at one point? Just curious.

You mean that you alone do not care. This is one individual's opinion. It is illogical to assume that you could speak for others.
