This is a pretty 'soft' interview.

The likes of Andrew Denton would have researched the crap out of Mr Atkinson, because of that, and his interviewing technique, would engage the subject, and we would learn a lot more about this complex, intelligent, clever character than this interview displays.

Saying the equivalent of "Hey we are here from Australia" and "gee you are funny as Mr Bean" does not make for great television

Maybe they should have given him the car at the start of the interview!
