I have to disagree with this. Side Control, I've found from experience (Not competition, streetfights.) That it is the safest position there is. I've never been thrown over from it, even by bigger guys.

It's a lot easier to get tossed when you are mounted on the guy than when you're cross-side. Especially when you're facing a big guy like in this video. In fact, unless you suck compared to your opponent, in which case you're screwed anyway, it's very unlikely.Plus you can knee the head and body from the side, and punch the nuts from cross-side.

I don't know that "upping your position" means going to mount.

"Punch the Balls" What the crap does Paul teach when you have elevated a fight to everything goes and your dirty move doesn't work. If you have to fight dirty, then it is already assumed that the person you are fighting is much better, other wise why fight dirty? So if this person is better, then what is stopping this better trained person from fighting dirty right back at you? All I am saying is train to win, without elevating a fight to something you might not be ready for.

@skippy563 If I'm simply an intermediate grappler at 150 lbs and I end up fighting Brock Lesnar NOW, you bet your ass I'm fighting dirty. Doesn't matter how big, strong, or skilled the other person is, you do what you have to do, simple as that. If that means eye jabs, ear yanks, throat shots, and groin hits, I will do that if it means I'll escape, and I'll tell my girlfriend that, and if I ever have a daughter, i'll tell her that.

2 things here.1)IF you westle regularly,no untrained man is going to reverse you from side mount,ever and 2)if you bite someone from mount that is excessive force and grevious bodily harm and youd be destroyed in court especially if its known you train.If youve mounted someone youre dominating and have absolutely no need to bite,a few good strikes and their out cold or rolled over to be choked.

@treataza of the main aspects of Kinomutai is to gouge the eye as you wrap around the head, meaning your opponent cannot turn their face towards you, hence they cannot bite back. Vunak considers all the variables beleive me. Good question though. Vunak's habit of asking himself such questions is probably a bit part of how he reached the level he's now attained.

@treataza Yeah, or what if Brad decides to drive his thumbs in Paul's eyes? Or maybe sticks his fingers in Paul's ears? If a person is in such fear for their life that they'll take a chunk of flesh out of another person's face, they better be prepared for the other person to do pretty much anything.  This is why real life and death or very serious fights rarely look like anything that could be described as matial arts.

@treataza More than likely he will react by flinching and recoiling, as opposed to calmly biting you back. Your actions and reaction will most likely be the way you practiced when you get into a real fight.

@treataza What the vid again and look at his hand position usually Vunak puts him in a rear naked choke backwards with your hand on his Forehead so your in control of his head and of course he can't bite you. :) Hope that help peace He didn't do it in the video tho. HEHE
